Brandweerlieden komen jaarlijks bijeen, op de derde zaterdag van juni, om hun dankbaarheid uit te spreken voor de toewijding van alle brandweermensen aan onze maatschappij.
Bij het brandweermonument wordt de pijn uit het verleden gedeeld en laten brandweermensen de verhalen van omgekomen brandweercollega’s weerklinken. 99 namen. 99 gezichten. 99 mannen die hun gezinnen, kinderen, ouders, vrienden en collega’s achterlieten. 99 waargebeurde verhalen, die allemaal anders zijn maar worden verbonden door het feit dat deze brandweermensen met hun leven de hoogste prijs hebben betaald voor het bewaken van ieders veiligheid. Brandweermensen staan 24/7 met hart en ziel klaar voor onze maatschappij. Soms zelfs met gevaar voor eigen leven. Want het brandweervak is niet zonder risico’s. Daar zijn we ons van bewust, maar we staan er niet iedere dag bij stil. Soms gaat het mis en betalen brandweermensen de hoogste prijs.

Every year the International Alliance of ALS/MND Associations celebrates 21 June as the global day of recognition of ALS/MND – a disease that affects people in every country of the globe.
ALS/MND is a global problem. It does not discriminate on the basis of race, ethnicity, socioeconomic status or region. There are people living with ALS/MND all over the world. For every person diagnosed, the impact of the disease will be forever felt by their loved ones. Alliance members across the world use the hashtag #ALSMNDWithoutB
The PALS and CALS Advisory Council and the Alliance support the “Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities and Optional Protocol” as brought forward by the United Nations. The Convention supports the global promotion and protection of all human rights and fundamental freedoms for all people with disabilities, including those living with ALS/MND. Of note, the Alliance emphasizes the importance of Articles 9 and 19 surrounding a person’s independence and their rights to equal accessibility and participation in daily living and enjoyment of life.
By providing equal access to all aspects of daily living and services, people living with ALS/MND are able to live autonomously and independently. This means that people living with ALS/MND are able to make their own choices or decisions about their daily living, living arrangements, healthcare provision, and community involvement. Global provision of equal access to services such as transportation, housing, workplace environment, medical facilities, and information services can support both enjoyment and quality of life and support for a person’s independence. In addition to supporting the Convention, these rights as they pertain to people living with ALS/MND are extrapolated into the Fundamental Rights of People Living with ALS/MND.

Show Your Stripes Day is a global moment to share our concern about how the climate is changing and the need for urgent action.
We ask everyone to share the famous “warming stripes”, a powerful visual representation of how temperatures have increased around the world since the industrial revolution. Created by climate scientist Professor Ed Hawkins at the University of Reading, each stripe represents one year. The colours transition from cool blues to warm reds to represent the increases in temperature seen throughout the past 150 years or more. On 21 June individuals, businesses, and cities around the world are called on to highlight their local climate stripes and share the powerful message they convey.
Dit conceptwetsvoorstel voorziet in een strafbaarstelling in het Wetboek van Strafrecht van het verheerlijken van terrorisme en het in het openbaar betuigen van steun aan terroristische organisaties.
In het Wetboek van Strafrecht (Sr) en het Wetboek van Strafrecht van Bonaire, Sint Eustatius en Saba (Sr BES) zullen de volgende strafbaarstellingen worden geïntroduceerd:
1) Verheerlijken van terrorisme: Op grond van een nieuw artikel 132a Sr is strafbaar degene die in het openbaar, mondeling of bij geschrift of afbeelding een terroristisch misdrijf verheerlijkt waarop naar de wettelijke omschrijving levenslange gevangenisstraf is gesteld. Op dit misdrijf wordt een gevangenisstraf van ten hoogste drie jaar of geldboete van de derde categorie gesteld. Een vergelijkbare strafbaarstelling wordt opgenomen in artikel 138b Sr BES.
2) Verspreiden verheerlijkende geschriften: Ook het verspreiden van een (door iemand anders gemaakte) afbeelding of geschrift waarin een terroristisch misdrijf wordt verheerlijkt, wordt strafbaar gesteld (voorgesteld artikel 132b Sr). Op dit feit wordt een gevangenisstraf van twee jaar of geldboete van de derde categorie gesteld. Een vergelijkbare strafbaarstelling wordt opgenomen in artikel 138c Sr BES.
3) Openlijke steunbetuiging aan terroristische organisaties: In het voorgestelde artikel 132c Sr wordt afzonderlijk het openlijk betuigen van steun aan een terroristische organisatie strafbaar gesteld. Aan dit misdrijf wordt een gevangenisstraf van ten hoogste drie jaar of geldboete van de derde categorie verbonden. Een vergelijkbare strafbaarstelling wordt opgenomen in artikel 138d Sr BES.

Researchers recently caught Meta using an egregious new tracking technique to spy on you, exploiting a technical loophole, the company was able to have their apps snoop on users’ web browsing.
This tracking technique stands out for its flagrant disregard of core security protections built into phones and browsers. The episode is yet another reason to distrust Meta, block web tracking, and end surveillance advertising. Fortunately, there are steps that you, your browser, and your government can take to fight online tracking:
Choose a browser with better default privacy protections than Chrome. For example, Brave and DuckDuckGo protected users from this tracking technique because they block Meta’s tracking pixel by default. Firefox only partially blocked the new tracking technique with its default settings, but fully blocked it for users with “Enhanced Tracking Protection” set to “Strict.”
It’s also a good idea to avoid using in-app browsers. When you open links inside the Facebook or Instagram apps, Meta can track you more easily than if you opened the same links in an external browser.
Reduce the number of ways your information can leak by deleting apps you don’t trust or don’t regularly use. Try opting for websites over apps when possible. In this case, and many similar cases, using the Facebook and Instagram website instead of the apps would have limited data collection. Even though both can contain tracking code, apps can access information that websites generally can’t, like a persistent “advertising ID” that companies use to track you (follow EFF’s instructions to turn it off if you haven’t already).
EFF’s free browser extension blocks trackers to stop companies from spying on you online. Although Privacy Badger would’ve stopped Meta’s latest tracking technique by blocking their pixel, Firefox for Android is the only mobile browser it currently supports. You can install Privacy Badger on Chrome, Firefox, and Edge on your desktop computer.
Meta’s business model creates an incentive to collect as much information as possible about people to sell targeted ads. Short of deleting your accounts, you have a number of options to limit tracking and how the company uses your data.
