Elk jaar is er op 23 juni de Dag van de Mantelzorg, een dag waarop er extra aandacht is voor de 2 miljoen Vlamingen die mantelzorger zijn.
Rond de Dag van de Mantelzorg worden overal in Vlaanderen activiteiten georganiseerd. Mantelzorgers krijgen, in welke vorm dan ook, een welverdiende appreciatie voor wat ze doen.
De Dag van Overprikkeling bij hersenletsel, is in 2017 gelanceerd door de website Hersenletsel-uitleg.
Hiermee tracht de stichting achter de website meer bewustwording en kennis over overprikkeling als gevolg van hersenletsel te realiseren. Ieder mens heeft het recht om te kunnen deelnemen aan de maatschappij. Het is alleen niet haalbaar voor hen met ernstige vorm van zintuiglijke overprikkeling.
World Whistleblowers Day was created to raise global public awareness in combating corruption, the day is about the important role of whistleblowers in combating fraud, abuse and corruption.
Whistleblowing (also whistle-blowing or whistle blowing) is the activity of a person, often an employee, revealing information about activity within a private or public organization that is deemed illegal, immoral, illicit, unsafe, unethical or fraudulent. Whistleblowers can use a variety of internal or external channels to communicate information or allegations. Over 83% of whistleblowers report internally to a supervisor, human resources, compliance, or a neutral third party within the company, hoping that the company will address and correct the issues. A whistleblower can also bring allegations to light by communicating with external entities, such as the media, government, or law enforcement. Some countries legislate as to what constitutes a protected disclosure, and the permissible methods of presenting a disclosure. Whistleblowing can occur in the private sector or the public sector. Whistleblowers often face retaliation for their disclosure, including termination of employment.
Several other actions may also be considered retaliatory, including an unreasonable increase in workloads, reduction of hours, preventing task completion, mobbing or bullying. Laws in many countries attempt to provide protection for whistleblowers and regulate whistleblowing activities. These laws tend to adopt different approaches to public and private sector whistleblowing. Whistleblowers do not always achieve their aims; for their claims to be credible and successful, they must have compelling evidence so that the government or regulating body can investigate them and hold corrupt companies and/or government agencies to account. To succeed, they must also persist in their efforts over what can often be years, in the face of extensive, coordinated and prolonged efforts that institutions can deploy to silence, discredit, isolate, and erode their financial and mental well-being. Whistleblowers have been likened to ‘Prophets at work’, but many lose their jobs, are victims of campaigns to discredit and isolate them, suffer financial and mental pressures, and some lose their lives.

The United Nations Public Service Day is celebrated on June 23 of every year, it was designated by the United Nations General Assembly‘s resolution A/RES/57/277, adopted on December 20th, 2002, to “celebrate the value and virtue of public service to the community”.
The United Nations Economic and Social Council established that the United Nations Public Service Awards be bestowed on Public Service Day for contributions made to the cause of enhancing the role, prestige, and visibility of public service.

A collaborative effort to raise awareness and encourage action to save one of Earth’s most precious resources, the rainforests
Rainforests are vital for the survival of life on Earth. We depend on the Amazon rainforest alone for 20% of the oxygen we breathe and the freshwater we drink. They absorb our carbon dioxide, stabilize climate patterns, and are home to half the world’s plant and animal species. Yet every minute, we lose 40 football fields of rainforests, which threatens our biodiversity and imperils our planet’s health. Deforestation causes 15% of global carbon dioxide emissions that accelerate climate change—more than from all cars in the U.S. and China combined. Natural climate solutions like protecting and restoring forests, however, could reverse global emissions by a third.

Nergens in Nederland wordt op zo’n grote schaal geëxperimenteerd met natuurinclusief boeren als in het Buijtenland van Rhoon. Gele akkers met raapzaad worden omringd door stroken met roze koekoeksbloemen, klavers en orchideeën. Dat trekt insecten aan die op hun beurt plaagdieren op de gewassen bestrijden. De boeren gebruiken op het land namelijk vrijwel geen insecticiden. Kieviten hebben het hier nog moeilijk, dus de kuikens worden met minizenders op de voet gevolgd om te kijken waar het misgaat. En Menno Bentveld ligt languit op een rijdend bed te wieden in het uienveld.
Vroege Vogels is een live-radioprogramma, tv-programma en online community van BNNVARA over natuur en milieu.
In het radioprogramma wordt het gesproken woord omlijst door licht klassieke muziek en salonmuziek. Het radioprogramma werd in 1978 voor het eerst uitgezonden door de VARA en is een van de langst lopende en best beluisterde radioprogramma’s van de publieke omroep. Het wordt elke zondagmorgen uitgezonden tussen 07:00 en 10:00 op NPO Radio 1. De beginmuziek is een bewerking van Vivaldi’s “Piccolo Concerto in C major” (RV 443).
