Day for the Right to the Truth Concerning Gross Human Rights Violations and for the Dignity of Victims / Dag voor het Recht op de Waarheid over Grove Schendingen van de Mensenrechten en voor de Waardigheid van Slachtoffers 2026
Each year, on 24 March, the Day for the Right to the Truth Concerning Gross Human Rights Violations and for the Dignity of Victims is observed.
This annual observance pays tribute to the memory of Monsignor Óscar Arnulfo Romero, who was murdered on 24 March 1980. Monsignor Romero was actively engaged in denouncing violations of the human rights of the most vulnerable individuals in El Salvador. Right to truth is the right, in the case of grave violations of human rights, for the victims and their families or societies to have access to the truth of what happened. The right to truth is closely related to, but distinct from, the state obligation to investigate and prosecute serious state violations of human rights. Right to truth is a form of victims’ rights; it is especially relevant to transitional justice in dealing with past abuses of human rights. In 2006, Yasmin Naqvi concluded that the right to truth “stands somewhere on the threshold of a legal norm and a narrative device … somewhere above a good argument and somewhere below a clear legal rule”
Wij willen parttime aan de slag! – petitie
Mensen met een arbeidsbeperking en mantelzorgers hebben zware verplichtingen en lopen grote financiële risico’s wanneer zij geen werk vinden, terwijl werkgevers geen vergelijkbare consequenties ondervinden bij afwijzing.
Het gevolg is dat mensen die wél willen en kunnen werken, maar niet binnen het fulltime model passen, structureel buitenspel blijven staan. Het is belangrijk dat er meer parttime banen komen van 4, 5 of 6 uur per dag, zodat veel meer mensen de mogelijkheid krijgen om te werken. Ook als jou dit nu niet raakt: ziekte of zorg kan iedereen treffen. Meer ruimte voor parttime werken vergroot de kans voor velen. Delen wordt gewaardeerd: met je netwerk, vakbonden, politieke partijen en via social media. Met jouw handtekening, jouw betrokkenheid bij deze actie en jouw bereidheid om te delen zorg je voor een groter bereik. De petitie gaat aangeboden worden aan het kabinet en aan de AWVN (Algemene werkgeversvereniging Nederland).

The experiment successfully transported a trap filled with antiprotons across CERN’s main site, a remarkable first step towards delivering antimatter to other European laboratories.
a team of scientists from the BASE experiment at CERN successfully transported a trap filled with antiprotons in a truck across the Laboratory’s main site. The team managed to accumulate a cloud of 92 antiprotons in an innovative portable cryogenic Penning trap, then disconnect it from the experimental facility, load it onto a truck and continue experiment operation after transport. This is a remarkable achievement, given that antimatter is very difficult to preserve, as it annihilates upon contact with matter. This world premiere is a test, the ultimate aim being to transport antiprotons to other European laboratories, such as Heinrich Heine University Düsseldorf (HHU), where very-high-precision measurements of the antiproton properties could be performed. Antimatter is a naturally occurring class of particles that is almost identical to ordinary matter except that the electric charge and magnetic moment are reversed. According to the laws of physics, the Big Bang should have produced equal amounts of matter and antimatter. These equal-but-opposite particles would have quickly annihilated each other, leaving an empty Universe. However, our Universe contains predominantly matter, and this imbalance has baffled scientists for decades. Physicists suspect that there are hidden differences that may explain why matter survived and antimatter all but disappeared.

In de middag en avond van 24 maart 2026 neemt de wind geleidelijk toe en de daarop volgende nacht is er vooral in de kustgebieden kans op zware windstoten, met name tijdens buien.
Ook landinwaarts is er tijdens passage van een felle buienlijn kortstondig kans op zware windstoten. In de eerste helft van woensdagochtend 25 maart neemt de wind vrij snel af af en verdwijnen de zware windstoten. Verkeer en buitenactiviteiten kunnen hiervan hinder ondervinden. Er kunnen in de kustprovincies vooral in buien zware windstoten optreden van 75-90 km/u, in het noordwestelijk kustgebied mogelijk 90-100 km/u. Landinwaarts kunnen tijdens passage van een felle buienlijn kortstondig zware windstoten voorkomen van 70-80 km/u. De wind komt vannacht eerst uit een zuidwestelijke richting. Aan het einde van de nacht woensdagochtend vroeg draait de wind naar een noordwestelijke richting.

The 15th meeting of the Conference of the Parties (CMS CoP15) to the Convention on the Conservation of Migratory Species of Wild Animals starts today (March 23) in Campo Grande, Brazil until the end of the week (29 March).
Governments, scientists, conservationists, indigenous peoples and local communities will gather to address urgent conservation challenges facing migratory species that cross international boundaries. Convening under the slogan ‘Connecting Nature to Sustain Life’, CMS CoP15 will underscore the critical importance of ecological connectivity for conserving ecosystems crucial for both migratory species and human well-being. Half of the world’s GDP depends directly or indirectly on nature. Safeguarding species and ecosystems is therefore not only an environmental imperative, but an economic and social one.

Stop de normalisering van anti-Aziatisch racisme in media – petitie
Volgens onderzoek van het Ministerie van Sociale Zekerheid en Welzijn (2024), ervaren van de ruim 2 miljoen Aziatische Nederlanders, 1 op de 3 racisme en discriminatie, onder Chinese Nederlanders is dat zelfs 1 op de 2.
En nog steeds wordt anti-Aziatisch racisme niet gezien. Niet begrepen. En keer op keer gedoogd. “Genoeg is genoeg,” zei Ruud de Wild op maandag 23 maart 2026. Maar dat is juist wat Aziatische Nederlanders al jaren zeggen. In 2020 zei DeGoedeZaak het al in de petitie ‘Wij zijn geen virussen‘, die door meer dan 65.000 mensen werd ondertekend. Zij maken nog elke dag racisme mee. Op radio. Op tv. In campagnes. In klaslokalen. Steeds opnieuw hetzelfde beeld: Aziaten als grap. Als stereotype. Als karikatuur. [1] Dit is niet onschuldig, maar leidt ook tot verbaal en fysiek geweld! Daarom moeten we nu in actie komen en de normalisering van deze vorm van racisme stoppen. Het is belangrijk dat dit niet wordt weggewuifd! Er moet verantwoordelijkheid worden genomen door de media die macht heeft over wat als ‘normaal’ gezien wordt. Daarom vragen we de minister van Onderwijs, Cultuur en Wetenschap deze verantwoordelijkheid te nemen. Er moeten nu stappen genomen worden tegen de normalisering van anti-Aziatisch racisme. Zolang racisme wordt weggewoven, groeit het. Daarin mogen we niet selectief zijn. Als we niet alle vormen van racisme serieus nemen, beschermen we uiteindelijk niemand. Voor het racisme en geweld dat Aziatische Nederlanders nu mee maken, moeten we de volgende generatie beschermen. Daarvoor is nu actie nodig! De petitie ‘Stop de normalisering van anti-Aziatisch racisme in media‘ is door DeGoedeZaak gestart namens de diverse Aziatisch-Nederlandse gemeenschappen, Hui-Hui Pan (Pan Asian Collective), Rui-Jun Luong (Asian Raisins), Julie Ng (Meer dan Babi Pangang) en het anti-Aziatisch Racisme Manifest. Zij zetten zich elke dag in om deze normalisering tegen te gaan. Het is aan ons om naast hen te gaan staan. De petitie zal fysiek worden overhandigd aan minister Rianne Letschert van Onderwijs, Cultuur en Wetenschap en het parlement in Den Haag.

World Meteorological Organization (WMO)’s State of the Global Climate report 2025 confirms that 2015-2025 are the hottest 11-years on record, and that 2025 was the second or third hottest year on record, at about 1.43 °C above the 1850-1900 average.
Extreme events around the world, including intense heat, heavy rainfall and tropical cyclones, caused disruption and devastation and highlighted the vulnerability of our inter-connected economies and societies. The ocean continues to warm and absorb carbon dioxide. It has been absorbing the equivalent of about eighteen times the annual human energy use each year for the past two decades. Annual sea ice extent in the Arctic was at or near a record low, Antarctic sea ice extent was the third lowest on record, and glacier melt continued unabated, according to the report. For the first time, the report includes the Earth’s energy imbalance as one of the key climate indicators.
