Vroege Vogels is een live-radioprogramma, tv-programma en online community van BNNVARA over natuur en milieu.

In het radioprogramma wordt het gesproken woord omlijst door licht klassieke muziek en salonmuziek. Het radioprogramma werd in 1978 voor het eerst uitgezonden door de VARA en is een van de langst lopende en best beluisterde radioprogramma’s van de publieke omroep. Het wordt elke zondagmorgen uitgezonden tussen 07:00 en 10:00 op NPO Radio 1. De beginmuziek is een bewerking van Vivaldi’s “Piccolo Concerto in C major” (RV 443). De tv editie wordt uitgezonden via NPO 2 op zondag, vaak rond een thema.

In de stad Groningen zijn zo’n 5.000 nestkasten te vinden, waarin onder andere de huiszwaluw graag broedt. Op de rustige, historische Zuiderbegraafplaats groeien bijzondere paddenstoelen. Menno Bentveld beklimt de Gasunietoren om prooiresten van de slechtvalk te verzamelen. In de drukke straten is te zien hoe planten zich aanpassen aan het stadsleven en insecten aantrekken. Het Stadspark blijkt een verborgen paradijs vol zeldzame korstmossen.

Er is op 24 november 2024 geen uitzending op de radio.

Gemeente Amsterdam stelt ongeveer 10 hectare in de Lutkemeerpolder beschikbaar voor stadslandbouw en natuur, via een tender konden partijen zich inschrijven met een plan.

Gemeente Amsterdam is voor deze kavels op zoek naar een groep samenwerkende ondernemers die participeren in een rechtspersoon die op democratische leest geschoeid is, zoals een coöperatie of vereniging en die een plan wil realiseren voor stadslandbouw en/of natuur op kavel N5. Een plan dat past bij de sfeer van Tuinen van West. Tuinen van West is een recreatiegebied met stadslandbouw en natuur aan de westkant van Amsterdam (Nieuw-West). Tuinen van West staat voor gezelligheid, bewegen, samen iets doen of maken, duurzaamheid, bewust leven en lekker eten. Bezoekers uit Amsterdam en de regio komen er voor sociale contacten, ontspanning, educatie, een zinvolle dagbesteding, aankoop van verse lokale producten, om er even tussenuit te zijn of actief wat te doen. Stadslandbouw: voedselproductie in of om de stad in combinatie met nevenactiviteiten die een maatschappelijke bijdragen leveren op het vlak van kennisuitwisseling (bijv. voedseleducatie), bewustwording, landschapsbeleving.

Plaatselijke gladheid door buien met sneeuw en/of hagel.

Op donderdag 21 november 2024 valt in Groningen regionaal veel sneeuw, 5-10 cm, daarvoor geldt code oranje. Later in de avond, de nacht en vrijdag 22 november geldt code geel in heel Nederland, met uitzondering van het westen, wegens plaatselijke gladheid door winterse neerslag en/of door bevriezing van natte weggedeelten. In het hele land, met uitzondering van Zeeland, kan plaatselijk verraderlijke gladheid optreden door bevriezing van natte weggedeelten door sneeuw- en hagelbuien, vooral in het oosten en noorden ook door sneeuw(restanten). In de middag is er in de westelijke kustgebieden kans op zware windstoten. Vrijdagavond en in de nacht is er in het hele land, met uitzondering van het westen, kans op gladheid door bevriezing van natte weggedeelten of een enkele winterse bui.

Die Leibniz-Instituts für Astrophysik Potsdam (AIP) Babelsberger Sternennächte finden online statt, in der Regel gibt es immer am 3. Donnerstag im Monat einen neuen Vortrag einer Wissenschaftlerin oder eines Wissenschaftlers des AIP, der ab 20 Uhr auf dem YouTube-Kanal von Urknall, Weltall und das Leben ausgestrahlt wird.

Why are intermediate-mass black holes so important for astrophysics? Nikolay Kacharov from the Leibniz Institute for Astrophysics in Potsdam presents the first solid evidence of such a black hole. He explains their potential role in the formation of supermassive black holes and provides insights into the groundbreaking observations that led to this discovery.

Understanding how rising global air and sea surface temperatures (SSTs) influence tropical cyclone intensities is crucial for assessing current and future storm risks.

Using observations, climate models, and potential intensity theory, the study ‘Human-caused ocean warming has intensified recent hurricanes‘ introduces a novel rapid attribution framework that quantifies the impact of historically-warming North Atlantic SSTs on observed hurricane maximum wind speeds. The attribution framework employs a storyline attribution approach exploring a comprehensive set of counterfactuals scenarios—estimates characterizing historical SST shifts due to human-caused climate change—and considering atmospheric variability. These counterfactual scenarios affect the quantification and significance of attributable changes in hurricane potential and observed actual intensities since pre-industrial. A summary of attributable influences on hurricanes during five recent North Atlantic hurricane seasons (2019–2023) and a case study of Hurricane Ian (2022) reveal that human-driven SST shifts have already driven robust changes in 84% of recent observed hurricane intensities. Hurricanes during the 2019–2023 seasons were 8.3 m s−1 faster, on average, than they would have been in a world without climate change. The attribution framework’s design and application, highlight the potential for this framework to support climate communication.

Wereld Hallo Dag / World Hello Day 2024

World Hello Day is als reactie op het conflict tussen Egypte en Israël in de herfst van 1973 (de Jom Kipoeroorlog) in het leven geroepen om staatshoofden en regeringsleiders aan te moedigen om pratend conflicten op te lossen in plaats van de wapens te pakken.

Hoe kun je meedoen? Heel simpel, vandaag groet je 10 (of meer) of meer mensen. Waarom? Allemaal voor het in stand houden van de vrede.

Television continues to be the single largest source of video consumption.

Though screen sizes have changed, and people create, post, stream and consume content on different platforms, the number of households with television sets around the world continues to rise. The interaction between emerging and traditional forms of broadcast creates a great opportunity to raise awareness about the important issues facing our communities and our planet.
In recognition of the increasing impact television has on decision-making by bringing world attention to conflicts and threats to peace and security and its potential role in sharpening the focus on other major issues, including economic and social issues, the United Nations General Assembly proclaimed 21 November as World Television Day (through resolution 51/205 of 17 December 1996).

World Television Day is not so much a celebration of the tool, but rather the philosophy which it represents. Television represents a symbol for communication and globalization in the contemporary world. On 21 and 22 November 1996 the United Nations held the first World Television Forum, where leading media figures met under the auspices of the United Nations to discuss the growing significance of television in today’s changing world and to consider how they might enhance their mutual cooperation. That is why the General Assembly decided to proclaim 21 November as World Television Day. This was done in recognition of the increasing impact television has on the process of decision-making. Television was thus acknowledged as a major tool in informing, channelling and affecting public opinion. Its impact and presence and its influence on world politics could not be denied.
