What do Shell, ING and ASML have in common? Their largest shareholder is BlackRock. This titan of an asset manager has a colossal, invisible grip on businesses worldwide. Chances are you’re connected to them too, without even knowing it, since BlackRock manages the pension money of over 7 million Dutch citizens. For decades, they operated in the shadows. But nowadays, this giant is facing massive backlash. Not only because their investments link them to the genocide in Gaza, but also because they remain one of the biggest backers of the fossil fuel industry. Bowing to pressure from US Republicans just before Trump’s second term, BlackRock even pulled out of major climate pacts, leaving Dutch pension funds (that do have green goals) feeling extremely frustrated. In a Volkskrant interview, BlackRock’s Dutch country manager Monique Donders claims to be tired of being talked about, and not talked to. Well, consider this an invitation. Do they dare show up, or will they keep their doors shut? Either way: this conversation needs to happen. Pinkpop 2026 (Radio NPO 3FM / 3voor12 / TV NPO 2 extra)

Pinkpop is een jaarlijks, driedaags popfestival in de Nederlands-Limburgse gemeente Landgraaf, dat sinds 1970 normaal gesproken in het weekeinde van Pinksteren plaatsvindt.

Het festival duurt sinds 1996 drie dagen en trekt per dag tienduizenden bezoekers. Pinkpop is het langstlopende jaarlijkse popfestival ter wereld. Het festival is een aantal keren van locatie gewisseld. In principe wordt het evenement sinds 2008 in elk jaar waarin Pinksteren vroeg valt, niet met Pinksteren gehouden, maar in een ander weekend, dat in of dichter bij de maand juni ligt. De reden hiervoor is dat Pinksteren anders te ver van andere Europese festivals zou liggen en er dan niet veel bands op tournee zijn in Europa. Met als gevolg dat er in het Pinksterweekend te weinig bands zouden kunnen optreden.

“The essence of childhood has been destroyed”: Israel’s deliberate targeting of Palestinian children in the Occupied Palestinian Territory since 7 October 2023 – publication

The Independent International Commission of Inquiry on the Occupied Palestinian Territory, including East Jerusalem, and Israel examines violations and crimes against and affecting Palestinian children, including serious physical and psychological harm by the Israeli security forces since 7 October 2023 resulting in the death of at least 20,179 and injury of 44,143 children.

The paper ‘The essence of childhood has been destroyed: Israel’s deliberate targeting of Palestinian children in the Occupied Palestinian Territory since 7 October 2023‘ describes the deliberate targeting and killing of Palestinian children, including post-ceasefire since the October 2025 Gaza peace plan. The Commission also examines a sharp increase in violence perpetrated by members of Israeli settlers against Palestinian children in the West Bank, including East Jerusalem. The Commission examines the use of torture, inhumane and degrading treatment, including sexual and gender-based violence, against Palestinian children, particularly during mass arrests and in detention. It analyses pattern of Israel’s targeting of critical infrastructure essential to children, such as healthcare facilities and its short- to long-term consequences, as well as the impact of reproductive violence on newborns, resulting in poor neonatal health and birthing outcomes; attacks on orphanages and schools, impacting the loss of care for orphans and unaccompanied children, and inducing academic harm and learning disruptions for children, respectively. The Commission examines the impact of the conditions of life imposed by Israel in Gaza resulting in preventable mortality of children, exacerbating morbidity, and serious mental trauma from the relentless and widespread attacks by Israel over two years – collectively revealing severe, multi-layered harm to Palestinian children’s survival, health, and development. Further, the Commission examines how Israeli soldiers mock and weaponize symbols of childhood in Gaza, raising ethical, disciplinary and legal questions about the conduct of the Israeli security forces during the ground invasion of Gaza. Lastly, the Commission provides recommendations to diverse stakeholders for the cessation of attacks, reparations, accountability and international enforcement of sanctions – aimed at advancing child-responsive justice.

Op 18 juni 2026 was het tijd voor het jaarlijkse teamuitje van de afdeling waar A3 werkt. De dag begon met een bakkie koffie in een hotel aan het Y. Vervolgens een cursus geurkaarsen maken. Daarna een werd er een lunch geserveerd en gegeten. Toen volgde een tocht naar het Westerpark, alwaar een filmpje werd bekeken. Tenslotte ging de groep naborrelen op het terras van een cafe.

In July 2021, the UN General Assembly highlighted global concerns over “the exponential spread and proliferation of hate speech” around the world and adopted a resolution on “promoting inter-religious and intercultural dialogue and tolerance in countering hate speech”.

The resolution recognizes the need to counter discrimination, xenophobia and hate speech and calls on all relevant actors, including States, to increase their efforts to address this phenomenon, in line with international human rights law. The resolution proclaimed 18 June as the International Day for Countering Hate Speech, building on the UN Strategy and Plan of Action on Hate Speech launched on 18 June 2019. To observe the Day, the United Nations invites governments, international organizations, civil society groups, and individuals to hold events and initiatives promoting strategies to identify, address and counter hate speech. This first UN system-wide initiative designed to tackle hate speech provides an essential framework for how the Organization can support and complement States’ efforts. Whether as Member States the private sector, the media and internet corporations, faith leaders, educators, actors of civil society, those affected by hate speech, youth, or simply as an individual, we all have the moral duty of speaking out firmly against instances of hate speech and play a crucial role to in countering this scourge. Since the spread of hateful rhetoric can be an early warning of violence – including atrocity crimes – limiting hate speech could contribute to mitigating its impact. Addressing hate speech remains a key priority within the United Nations system, through the implementation of the UN Strategy and Plan of Action on Hate Speech. Subsequently, General Assembly resolution A/RES/79/316 adopted in June 2025 “encourages Member States to consider […] initiatives that identify areas for practical action in all sectors and levels of society for the promotion of interreligious and intercultural dialogue, tolerance, understanding and cooperation” as a tool to counter hate speech.

The UN Strategy and Plan of Action on Hate Speech underscores the importance of partnerships in the fight against hate speech. Indeed, as hate speech affects the whole society, a whole-of-society approach is necessary to address this phenomenon.  Relatedly, the UN Strategy stresses the need to raise awareness about respect for human rights, non-discrimination, coexistence, acceptance and respect for diversity and understanding of other cultures and religions, as well as the promotion of intercultural, interfaith and interreligious dialogue. It urges for the use of advocacy to highlight hate speech trends of concern as well as to express sympathy and support to targeted individuals or groups. This is most resonant in the current context of rising conflicts globally, both in their frequency and intensity as well as in the ways in which hate speech is used to fuel them. To protect all those at risk of hate speech, which can lead to incitement to violence, there is an urgent need to further strengthen practical approaches and tools, and scalable strategies to break the cycles of hate, elevate  empathy, and acceptance, and respect for diversity as critical pillars in any society and reinforce the foundations of dialogue and understanding as instrumental to building peaceful and just societies. These practical approaches entail policies, new technologies and innovative partnerships to advance and sustain efforts to not only address the root causes of hate speech but also mitigate its impact on societies and communities and to counter it. They consider the intersection of education, media, digital literacy, monitoring, data collection and identification of access points for interventions. In the current international landscape, partnerships also remain essential in designing and implementing these practical tools and approaches for countering hate speech and other noxious narratives and contribute to a healthy information ecosystem.

Volgens de UNESCO wordt gastronomie ook wel de kunst van het koken genoemd, als we het op Dag van de Duurzame Gastronomie hebben over duurzaam dan gaat het over bijvoorbeeld over duurzaamheid in de landbouw, visserij of zelfs bij het bereiden van voedsel.

Gastronomie is pas duurzaam als onze natuurlijke hulpbronnen tijdens dit proces niet worden verkwist. En dat later blijkt dat het niet schadelijk is geweest voor het milieu of onze gezondheid. Duurzame gastronomie betekent daarom een keuken die rekening houdt met waar de ingrediënten vandaan komen, hoe het voedsel wordt verbouwd en hoe het op onze markten en uiteindelijk op ons bord terechtkomt.

Sit-in van Rijksambtenaren in Den Haag

Sit-in door een groep Nederlandse ambtenaren die zich ernstige zorgen maakt over het aanhoudende Israëlische offensief in Gaza – dat volgens het Internationaal Gerechtshof bestempeld werd als plausibele genocide- en het Nederlandse beleid in reactie hierop.

Je kent ze misschien van de sit-ins die elke donderdag om 12:00 plaatsvinden voor het Ministerie van Buitenlandse Zaken. Als ambtenaren zijn zij doordrongen van het belang van internationaal recht. Ze legden een eed af op de Grondwet, inclusief artikel 90 waarin staat dat de regering de internationale rechtsorde bevordert. Het is aan de politiek om het beleid uiteen te zetten, dat klopt. Maar ook de politiek heeft zich te houden aan onze Grondwet en aan internationaal verdragsrechtelijke verplichtingen. Het is aan ambtenaren om de politiek erop te wijzen wanneer beleid het internationaal recht (mogelijk) schaadt. En die taak – die plicht – nemen zij zeer serieus. Zij verwachten van onze regering dat zij zich onvermoeibaar in gaat zetten voor consistente naleving van het internationaal recht. Concreet stellen zij vier eisen aan de Nederlandse regering en verwachten wij van de regering dat alle diplomatieke middelen worden aangewend om onderstaande te bewerkstelligen:

1. Maximale inzet op een onmiddellijk en permanent staakt-het-vuren en volledige humanitaire toegang tot Gaza.

2. ⁠Een eind aan alle vormen van steun voor én rechtvaardiging van Israëls huidige militaire optreden in Gaza en erkenning van het internationale humanitaire en oorlogsrecht;

3. ⁠De onmiddellijke naleving van uitspraken van het Internationaal Gerechtshof (ICJ).

4. Een strategie voor duurzame vrede, met garanties voor de mensenrechten en veiligheid van zowel Palestijnen als Israëliërs.

Graspop Metal Meeting 2026 (TV Graspop live stream)

Graspop Metal Meeting (ook kortweg Graspop of GMM(xx) genoemd) is een jaarlijks meerdaags metalfestival in Dessel, in de Belgische provincie Antwerpen.

Sinds 2011 is het een vierdaags festival dat, behoudens enkele uitzonderingen, telkens in het voorlaatste weekend van juni plaatsvindt. Het valt meestal samen met het Franse metalfestival Hellfest.
