De Klimaatconferentie van Glasgow 2020 (2021 United Nations Climate Change Conference / COP26) is een conferentie van de Verenigde Naties over klimaatverandering, die gehouden wordt in de Scottish Events Campus te Glasgow, Schotland, Verenigd Koninkrijk, en in Italië.

Introductie:
COP26 was gepland van 9 tot 19 november 2020, maar is in verband met de dan heersende coronapandemie 12 maanden uitgesteld naar 31 oktober tot en met 12 November 2021. De conferentie is de 26ste Conference of the Parties (COP26) in het kader van het Klimaatverdrag (UNFCCC), de 16e sessie van de partners in het Kyoto-protocol (CMP 16), en de 3e sessie van de partners in uitvoering van het Akkoord van Parijs (CMA 3). 

COP26 volgt op de Klimaatconferentie Chili 2019 – COP25. Het Verenigd Koninkrijk won de toewijzing van de conferentie, na een samenwerkingsakkoord met Italië. COP26 zal doorgaan in Glasgow, terwijl Italië gastland wordt van de voorbereidende vergaderingen, en een jeugdevenement. Glasgow, en Schotland in het algemeen, gaan er prat op een voortrekkersrol te spelen in het klimaatgebeuren. Tijdens COP26, waarop men 30.000 deelnemers verwacht, zal de eerste herziening van het Akkoord van Parijs centraal staan.

Leaders of more than 100 countries with around 85% of the world’s forests, agreed to end deforestation by 2030, improving on a similar 2014 agreement by now including Brazil, Indonesia, and businesses.
