Petition proposing an ‘International Day of Volcanoes’ to be observed officially by the United Nations and we are asking that the U.N. General Assembly please consider a resolution for establishing an ‘International Day of Volcanoes’ on 10th April every year.
Tanguy De Saint-Cyr, owner of French volcano tour company, that came up with the concept for an ‘International Day of Volcanoes’ and Jeannie Curtis, a New Zealand technical writer and educator are proposing an ‘International Day of Volcanoes’ to be officially recognised and observed by the United Nations and ask that the General Assembly please consider a resolution for establishing an ‘International Day of Volcanoes’ on 10th April. The date of 10th April has no recognised international day and we propose this date for the following reason: On 10 April 1815 Gunung (Mount) Tambora in Indonesia erupted and generated massive pyroclastic flows and tsunami that instantly killed 10,000 locals, who were unaware of the danger. The massive eruption injected huge amounts of aerosols into the Earth’s stratosphere, causing a global haze which reflected back the incoming sunlight and cooled our planet by half a degree (celsius). This affected the planet’s climate for three years, causing crop failure and famine, resulting in up to 60,000 more human deaths globally – as well as affecting animals, fauna and agriculture. Tambora is still the deadliest eruption in recorded history, and 10th April is a date in which the people of the World can reflect upon an “International Day of Volcanoes’
Blocking the Betuweroute
Geef Tegengas en Nijmegen Campment target the Betuweroute, the most important railway line between Nederland and Germany; built on €4.5 billion taxpayer money, it is the second most expensive Dutch infrastructure project ever, used heavily by the German coal, steel and weapons industry.
These companies have strong collaborations with the US and Isreal, which is now extending its genocide from Gaza to Lebanon, Syria and Iran. Today GeefTegengas en NijmegenenCampment escalate, and after today this escalation will not stop. They will hit logistical chokepoints in the Netherlands whereever they may be. If all people stand strong and together, the Netherlands can transform from a hub of violence and oppression to a hub of justice and solidarity.

Bijentelling 2026
De Nationale Bijentelling wordt georganiseerd door Naturalis Biodiversity Center, LandschappenNL, en IVN Natuureducatie, in samenwerking met EIS Kenniscentrum Insecten en Waarneming.nl en mede-initiatiefnemer Natuur & Milieu.
Het doel is om zoveel mogelijk over bijen te weten komen, zodat we de bij beter kunnen helpen. Daarom wordt iedereen gevraagd om mee te doen aan dit landelijk bijenonderzoek. In Nederland komen bijna 360 bijensoorten voor. Ruim de helft daarvan is bedreigd. Bijen zijn belangrijk voor bestuiving: 80% van onze eetbare gewassen en bijna 90% van onze wilde planten worden bestoven door bijen en andere insecten. Meedoen is eenvoudig, ook voor wie weinig of geen kennis van bijen heeft. Er is een telformulier en bijengidsje waarmee iedereen de zestien verschillende soorten wilde bijen, hommels en zweefvliegen kan herkennen.

IoTDay is an open invitation to the Internet of Things (IoT) Community to set up an event, a lunch, a talk with the neigborhood on what IoT is and what it means in everyday life for all of us.
IoTDay and is an open invitation to the Internet of Things Community to set up an event, a lunch, a talk with the neighborhood on what IoT is and what it means in everyday life for all of us. IoTDay started in 2010 organised by the IoT Council. IoTDay is an opportunity for the IoT Community to show that it cares for people, for the environment, for animals … and for machines as well. The global IoT Day was started by the #IoT Council in 2010, with the goal to brainstorm on the emerging IoT Topics and further the discourse in EU & abroad. IoT Day in April has since been held annually and with a wide range of participants, growing to hundreds of locations across the world, with a variety of gatherings in places ranging from conference halls, online meetings, bars and cafes, Meetups, classrooms and parks. The point of the IoTDay exchanges is to bring IoT/AI Trends out into the open to and with citizens and industry experts to collaborate on developments across borders. Every year IoTDay is an open invitation to the wider Internet of Things Community to set up an event, a lunch, a talk with the neighbourhood on what #IoT is about and what it means in everyday life for all of us now. IoTDay in Brussels with a special celebration this time around is organised by the IoT Council and its members. Leading up to the fifteenth anniversary in Spring 2025, we are having a variety of events online and in person to celebrate the progress in global IoT Technologies and to discuss the range of current issues still needing to be resolved going forward, especially with the influx of AI and lack of security in developments, as well as conflicting standards around the world.
