The BBC has announced that the highly anticipated Doctor Who series The War Between the Land and the Sea is set to launch with a thrilling double bill.

The five-part series follows Barclay (Russell Tovey), a low-level UNIT staff member whose ordinary life becomes a world of terror when an ancient species rises from the sea. Barclay becomes humanity’s ambassador when the mysterious Salt (Gugu Mbatha-Raw) emerges from the Tank at a summit on the Thames. UNIT, led by Kate Lethbridge-Stewart (Jemma Redgrave), fights for control as humanity faces destruction. Alongside Russell Tovey, Gugu Mbatha-Raw, and Jemma Redgrave, the series features a star-studded cast including Ruth Madeley as Shirley Bingham, Alexander Devrient as Colonel Christofer Ibrahim, and Colin McFarlane as General Austin Pierce. Other previously announced cast members include Adrian Lukis, Patrick Baladi, Francesca Corney, Mei Mac, Vincent Franklin, Waleed Hammad, Iestyn Arwel, Hannah Donaldson, Manpreet Bachu, and Ann Akinjirin.

ING: stop met ons geld steken in bedrijven die nog nieuwe olie- en gasprojecten starten en die betrokken zijn bij mensenrechtenschendingen, en halveer je uitstoot in lijn met het Parijsakkoord.

Wat ING met jouw geld doet is onzichtbaar, maar niet bepaald onschuldig. Terwijl jij probeert te sparen voor je toekomst, financiert ING bedrijven die diezelfde toekomst in gevaar brengen: van nieuw olie en gas tot mensenrechtenschendingen. Daarom zegt Milieudefensie: Verbeter de wereld, begin bij je bankrekening: Niet met ons geld. De Klimaatzaak tegen ING wordt natuurlijk gewoon voortgezet in de rechtbank, maar jij kan nú iets doen. Want: als ING over 1 jaar niet aan onze eisen voldoet, stappen we massaal over. Verbeter de wereld, begin bij je bankrekening! Time’s up. Aan ING de keuze: Koers veranderen, of klanten verliezen? World Television Day 2025

World Television Day is not so much a celebration of the tool, but rather the philosophy which it represents, television represents a symbol for communication and globalization in the contemporary world.

Television continues to be the single largest source of video consumption. Though screen sizes have changed, and people create, post, stream and consume content on different platforms, the number of households with television sets around the world continues to rise. The interaction between emerging and traditional forms of broadcast creates a great opportunity to raise awareness about the important issues facing our communities and our planet. In recognition of the increasing impact television has on decision-making by bringing world attention to conflicts and threats to peace and security and its potential role in sharpening the focus on other major issues, including economic and social issues, the United Nations General Assembly proclaimed 21 November as World Television Day (through resolution 51/205 of 17 December 1996). On 21 and 22 November 1996 the United Nations held the first World Television Forum, where leading media figures met under the auspices of the United Nations to discuss the growing significance of television in today’s changing world and to consider how they might enhance their mutual cooperation. That is why the General Assembly decided to proclaim 21 November as World Television Day. This was done in recognition of the increasing impact television has on the process of decision-making. Television was thus acknowledged as a major tool in informing, channelling and affecting public opinion. Its impact and presence and its influence on world politics could not be denied.

World Philosophy Day 2025

In 2005 the UNESCO General Conference proclaimed that World Philosophy Day would be celebrated every third Thursday of November.

Philosophy is the study of the nature of reality and existence, of what is possible to know, and of right and wrong behavior. It comes from the Greek word phílosophía, meaning ‘the love of wisdom.’ It is one of the most important fields of human thought as it aspires to get at the very meaning of life.

  • to renew the national, subregional, regional and international commitment to philosophy;
  • to foster philosophical analysis, research and studies on major contemporary issues, so as to respond more effectively to the challenges that are confronting humanity today;
  • to raise public awareness of the importance of philosophy and its critical use in the choices arising for many societies from the effects of globalization or entry into modernity;
  • to appraise the state of philosophy teaching throughout the world, with special emphasis on unequal access;
  • to underline the importance of the universalization of philosophy teaching for future generations.
