Vroege Vogels Radio | 22 februari 2026 (Radio 1 NPO)
Vroege Vogels is een live-radioprogramma, tv-programma en online community van BNNVARA over natuur en milieu.
In het radioprogramma wordt het gesproken woord omlijst door licht klassieke muziek en salonmuziek. Het radioprogramma werd in 1978 voor het eerst uitgezonden door de VARA en is een van de langst lopende en best beluisterde radioprogramma’s van de publieke omroep. Het wordt elke zondagmorgen uitgezonden tussen 07:00 en 10:00 op NPO Radio 1. De beginmuziek is een bewerking van Vivaldi’s “Piccolo Concerto in C major” (RV 443).
Rechtszaak heeft een betere bescherming van Natura 2000-gebieden op de Noordzee tegen schadelijke activiteiten afgedwongen. We starten met het volgen van een blauwe reigerkolonie in het Amsterdamse bos. Deze wereldberoemde fossielen, ontdekt door de Nederlander Eugène Dubois, zijn recent teruggegeven aan Indonesië. Binnenkort volgen ook zo’n dertigduizend andere fossielen die de Nederlander verzamelde op Java en Sumatra. En verder: lelieteelt in Midden-Drenthe, snijden in dode vogels, kakapo van Nieuw-Zeeland, kleine beestjes en kleurvariatie bij buizerds. De column is van Patrick Jansen. Red Nose Day / Comic Relief Season 2026 (TV BBC One / iPlayer)
The highlight of Comic Relief ’s appeal is Red Nose Day, an annual telethon held in March.
Comic Relief is a British charity, founded in 1985 by the comedy scriptwriter Richard Curtis and comedian Sir Lenny Henry in response to the 1983–1985 famine in Ethiopia, the concept of Comic Relief was to get British comedians to make the public laugh, while raising money to help people around the world and in the United Kingdom.

World Day of Social Justice / Werelddag van de Sociale Rechtvaardigheid 2026
World Day of Social Justice (Social Justice Equality Day) is an international day recognizing the need to promote social justice, which includes efforts to tackle issues such as poverty, exclusion, gender inequality, unemployment, human rights, and social protections.
Many organizations, including the UN, American Library Association (ALA), and the International Labour Organization (ILO), make statements on the importance of social and present plans for greater social justice by tackling poverty, social and economic exclusion and unemployment. The United Nations General Assembly has decided to observe 20 February annually, approved on 26 November 2007 and starting in 2009, as the World Day of Social Justice. The Declaration focuses on guaranteeing fair outcomes for all through employment, social protection, social dialogue, and fundamental principles and rights. Ideal topics for teaching students about the need for social justice include (but are not limited to) childhood poverty, global citizenship, human rights, and sustainable development. A series of lessons are available by country with the United Nations and other programs. Oxfam’s food for thought power point which shows students the global food system that then has the opportunity for students to share their thoughts and experiences. The lesson plans and collections available are for students of all ages.
The ILO unanimously adopted the ILO Declaration on Social Justice for a Fair Globalization on 10 June 2008. This is the third major statement of principles and policies adopted by the International Labour Conference since the ILO’s Constitution of 1919. It builds on the Philadelphia Declaration of 1944 and the Declaration on Fundamental Principles and Rights at Work of 1998. The 2008 Declaration expresses the contemporary vision of the ILO’s mandate in the era of globalization. This landmark Declaration is a powerful reaffirmation of ILO values. It is the outcome of tripartite consultations that started in the wake of the Report of the World Commission on the Social Dimension of Globalization. By adopting this text, the representatives of governments, employers’ and workers’ organizations from 182 member States emphasize the key role of our tripartite Organization in helping to achieve progress and social justice in the context of globalization. Together, they commit to enhance the ILO’s capacity to advance these goals, through the Decent Work Agenda. The Declaration institutionalizes the Decent Work concept developed by the ILO since 1999, placing it at the core of the Organization’s policies to reach its constitutional objectives.

Het Coalitieakkoord 2026-2030 van D66, VVD en CDA verbetert het overheidssaldo op de korte termijn, maar vooral op de lange termijn loopt de overheidsschuld op.
De doorsnee koopkracht daalt beperkt. De uitstoot van zowel broeikasgassen als stikstof daalt, al is het nog onvoldoende om de stikstofdoelen uit het coalitieakkoord te halen. Dat blijkt uit de analyse van het coalitieakkoord die het Centraal Planbureau (CPB) en het Planbureau voor de Leefomgeving (PBL) hebben gepubliceerd.

Artsen zonder Grenzen dreigt per 28 februari 2026 onder dwang te moeten vertrekken uit Gaza.
Per 28 februari Artsen zonder Grenzen dreigt onder Israëlische dwang uit Gaza te worden gezet. En ze staan niet alleen: in totaal lopen 37 ngo’s het risico te worden verbannen. Als Israël dit daadwerkelijk doorzet, zijn de gevolgen voor de Palestijnse bevolking niet te overzien. Dit is het moment voor politieke moed. ‘Rodelijner’ en aanstaand premier Rob Jetten moet op dag één laten zien waar hij voor staat. Niet afwachten en geen diplomatieke omwegen — maar alles op alles zetten om Israël met diplomatieke én economische druk tot de orde te roepen. Dat is precies wat Artsen zonder Grenzen eist in een oproep die inmiddels door bijna 50.000 Nederlanders is ondertekend. Hulp ontzeggen aan een opgesloten en uitgeputte bevolking is geen bijzaak — het is een bewuste, gecalculeerde stap in de genocide die Israël in Gaza pleegt. En zonder ngo’s zijn er nóg minder getuigen van wat daar gebeurt. Dat mogen we niet laten gebeuren. Spreek je uit en steun de oproep van Artsen zonder Grenzen. Oefen druk uit. En eis dat Nederland niet wegkijkt.
Measurement of a lithium plume from the uncontrolled re-entry of a Falcon 9 rocket – publication
A 10-fold enhancement of lithium atoms was detected at 96 km altitude by a resonance lidar at Kühlungsborn, Germany, approximately 20 hours after the uncontrolled re-entry of a Falcon 9 upper stage.
The upper-atmospheric extension of the ICOsahedral Nonhydrostatic (ICON – a unified modeling system for global numerical weather prediction and climate studies) general circulation model, nudged to ECMWF, was used to calculate winds. Backwards trajectories, including wind variability as measured by radar, traced air masses to the Falcon 9 re-entry path at 100 km altitude, west of Ireland. The study ‘Measurement of a lithium plume from the uncontrolled re-entry of a Falcon 9 rocket‘ presents the first measurement of upper-atmospheric pollution resulting from space debris re-entry and the first observational evidence that the ablation of space debris can be detected by ground-based lidar. The analysis of geomagnetic conditions, atmospheric dynamics, and ionospheric measurements supports the claim that the enhancement was not of natural origin. Our findings demonstrate that identifying pollutants and tracing them to their sources is achievable, with significant implications for monitoring and mitigating space emissions in the atmosphere.
