Time for a 4-day work week – petition
oktober 7 - december 7
🎉 The Japanese government is encouraging companies to introduce a 4 day-work week.
Why is it so important? Countless studies show a 32-hour week for the same pay improved worker well-being, the health of families, gender equality, pollution, employment rates and more. It even boosted productivity and efficiency in the workplace. Japan is known for its very hardworking culture. I mean, they even have a term for literally working oneself to death – karoshi 🤯 The government wants to change that. It has launched a new campaign promoting flexible work hours arrangements, shorter work time, as well as overtime limits. While changing habits can be challenging in such a tough work culture, it could bring many benefits. But first, employers and employees need to open up to this change. In 2022, Panasonic, one of Japan’s largest companies, introduced a four-day workweek option, yet only about 150 out of 63,000 employees decided to participate. If Japan is becoming more serious about a 4-day work week, so should Europe. It’s time to introduce shorter work weeks across the EU. Sign the petition to join this fight! ✊Â
