The Hubble Tension in Our Own Backyard: DESI and the Nearness of the Coma Cluster – publication
15 januari 2025

The study ‘The Hubble Tension in Our Own Backyard: DESI and the Nearness of the Coma Cluster’ uses the Dark Energy Spectroscopic Instrument (DESI) to make more precise measurements of Type 1a’s in the nearby Coma cluster.
This is used to make a more precise calibration of our overall measurements of distance in the universe. With this more precise data, the authors argue that the Hubble Tension should now be considered a “Hubble Crisis” (a term which then metastasized throughout reporting headlines). The bottom line is that there really is a disconnect between theory and measurements.
