Coming-Outdag / Coming-Outday / Annie Brouwer-Korf prijs uitreiking 2025
Op Coming-Outdag (Engels: Coming Out Day), die jaarlijks op 11 oktober plaatsvindt, wordt aandacht besteed aan het moment dat een lesbienne, homo, biseksueel of transgender (LHBTI) openlijk voor zijn of haar seksuele geaardheid of genderidentitei
Coming-Outdag vond voor het eerst plaats in 1988 in de Verenigde Staten en wordt sinds 2009 ook in Nederland gehouden. Anders dan de Gay Pride en Roze Zaterdag in Nederland en The Belgian Pride in België, vindt op Coming-Outdag geen grote centrale viering plaats, maar worden er in meerdere plaatsen kleinere activiteiten georganiseerd door lokale homo- en jongerenorganis
De Annie Brouwer-Korf prijs is onderdeel van het Utrecht Queer Culture Festival en wordt jaarlijks uitgereikt op 11 oktober, Coming Out Dag. Annie Brouwer-Korf (1946-2017) was van 1999 tot 2008 burgemeester van Utrecht. In deze periode heeft zij zich in het bijzonder ingezet voor de rechten lhbtiqa+ personen in Utrecht en ver daarbuiten. Personen, organisaties, initiatieven of projecten die zich inzetten voor de acceptatie en zichtbaarheid van de Utrechtse lhbtiqa+ gemeenschap kunnen worden voorgedragen. Een jury kiest jaarlijks uit alle inzendingen drie genomineerden en bepaalt vervolgens ook welke van hen de winnaar wordt.

Cinekid festival 2025
Cinekid is een film-, televisie– en mediafestival in Amsterdam voor kinderen van 3 tot 14 jaar, het festival vindt elk jaar plaats rond de herfstvakantie en Cinekid on Tour verzorgt in meer dan 30 steden een satellietprogramma waar ook kinderfilms vertoond worden en een klein MediaLab wordt geplaatst.
Jaarlijks bezoeken meer dan 60.000 kinderen, ouders en (internationale) gasten het festival. Er worden films vertoond uit de hele wereld, er is een selectie van de beste televisieprogramma’s voor de jeugd en er worden activiteiten georganiseerd rondom de nieuwste ontwikkelingen van nieuwe media in het MediaLab. Daarnaast is er Cinekid for Professionals met een seminarprogramma en coproductiemarkten, waar mediaprofessionals van over de hele wereld langskomen. Cinekid begon in 1986 als een nieuw initiatief in De Meervaart in Amsterdam Osdorp. Gedurende het hele jaar richt Cinekid zich op media-educatieprojecten voor kinderen in het primair onderwijs. Voorbeelden van projecten zijn het AppLab, een verzameling van apps die geschikt zijn voor kinderen, (media)workshops, lesmateriaal en een doorlopende leerlijn media-educatie voor het primair onderwijs.

World Migratory Bird Day in October 2025
World Migratory Bird Day (WMBD) is an annual awareness-raising campaign highlighting the need for the conservation of migratory birds and their habitats.
It has a global outreach and is an effective tool to help raise global awareness of the threats faced by migratory birds, their ecological importance, and the need for international cooperation to conserve them. Every year people around the world take action and organize public events such as bird festivals, education programmes, exhibitions and bird-watching excursions to celebrate WMBD. All these activities can also be undertaken at any time on the year because that countries or regions observing the peak of migrations at different times, but the main days for the international celebrations on the second Saturday in May and in October.

Mokum Tegen Fascisme : Fascisten niet welkom in Amsterdam!
Onder het motto “Laat je horen tegen extreem-rechts en fascistisch geweld!” organiseert het samenwerkingsverband Samen Tegen Fascisme op 12 oktober een manifestatie op het Jonas Daniel Meijerplein in Amsterdam.
Deze actie is een tegengeluid tegen een “anti-immigratie protest” dat op dezelfde dag plaatsvindt op de Dam. Bij de actie van Samen Tegen Fascisme hoort een lijst van ondersteunende organisaties, teken hier om ook de oproep te steunen.

2025 Edition Palestinian Film Festival Amsterdam
As a signpost in place and a source point of time, Gaza is a turning point globally, and it is also a marker of the long-felt conditions of virtuality that have in part defined Palestinian experience since the 1948 Al Nakba [the catastrophe] when the mass displacement, dispossession, and ethnic cleansing of Palestinians by the Israeli state began.
With the abundance of dystopian and apocalyptic images saturating viewers’ senses for two years by the time we gather in October, Virtual Remains opens up the question: how do we as receivers of this image stream inhabit imaginaries of Gaza and of Palestine, and how do they, as locus and ethos, inhabit us? Starting here, the 2025 festival is a reflection on virtuality in all its dimensions: as representation, imagination, index, projection, embodiment, and the truth claims attached to (moving) images. This year’s festival will once again unfold over four days, beginning with an opening night premiere on Thursday, 9 October and continuing with day and evening activities throughout the weekend. Alongside our rich schedule of screenings featuring over twenty-five films by Palestinian directors with special introductions and post-screening discussions, the 2025 programme also comprises a range of parallel events, including a series of dialogue sessions and hands-on workshops, as well as our always popular olive oil tasting and a very special interactive keynote. To realise the programme, we are pleased to be continuing our collaborations with the arthouse theaters Kriterion, Lab111, Studio/K, and Ventilator Cinema, and to be embarking on new partnerships with the arts organisations De Appel and Framer Framed, and the collective dance studio Jakoozi. World Mental Health Day (10 October) is an international day for global mental health education, awareness and advocacy against social stigma.
World Mental Health Day was first celebrated in 1992 at the initiative of the World Federation for Mental Health, a global mental health organization with members and contacts in more than 150 countries. This day, each October, thousands of supporters come to celebrate this annual awareness program to bring attention to mental illness and its major effects on peoples’ lives worldwide. World Mental Health Day 2025 theme is “Mental health in humanitarian emergencies“.
