  • Festivus 2023

    Festivus (/ˈfɛstɪvəs/) is a secular holiday celebrated on December 23 as an alternative to the pressures and commercialism of the Christmas season. Originally created by author Daniel O'Keefe, Festivus entered popular culture after it was made the focus of the 1997 Seinfeld episode "The Strike", which O'Keefe's son, Dan O'Keefe, co-wrote.

    Kwanzaa is een feest van het leven gebaseerd op Afrikaanse cultuur van de Bantoevolken, het wordt gevierd door Amerikanen van Afrikaanse afkomst, die officieel afstammen van de West-Afrikaanse en Zuidoost-Afrikaanse regio, tussen 26 december en 1 januari.

    The Royal Institution Christmas Lectures are a series of lectures on a single topic each, which have been held at the Royal Institution in London each year, the lectures present scientific subjects to a general audience, including young people, in an informative and entertaining manner; Michael Faraday initiated the Christmas Lecture series in 1825, at a time when organised education for young people was scarce, Faraday presented nineteen series of lectures in all.

    De bron van de Dag van de Rare Loopjes (The International Day of Silly Walks) ligt bij het Engelse Ministry of Silly Walks, afkomstig uit één van de sketches in Monty Python’s Flying Circus serie 2 aflevering 1 getiteld Face the Press (1970) met John Cleese in de hoofdrol.
