Deze duurt dan tot 1 september respectievelijk 1 maart. De zomer kenmerkt zich op het noordelijk halfrond door relatief hoge temperaturen\, langer daglicht en het zo nu en dan voorkomen van onweer. Verder is er in het eerste deel van de zomer veel bloeiende natuur. De zomer is ook het seizoen met de voor de meeste mensen langste vakantie van het jaar: de zomervakantie. DESCRIPTION:The International Seabed Authority (ISA; French: Autorité internationale des fonds marins) is a Kingston\, Jamaica-based intergovernmental body of 171 Member States plus the European Union. \nIt was established under the 1982 UN Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS) and its 1994 Agreement on Implementation. The ISA’s dual mission is to authorize and control the development of mineral related operations in the international seabed\, which is considered the “common heritage of all mankind“\, and to protect the ecosystem of the seabed\, ocean floor and subsoil in “The Area” beyond national jurisdiction. The ISA is responsible for safeguarding the international deep sea\, defined as waters below 200 meters (656 feet)\, where photosynthesis is hampered by inadequate light. Governing approximately half of the total area of the world’s oceans\, the ISA oversees activities that might threaten biological diversity and harm the marine environment. Since its inception in 1994\, the ISA has approved over two dozen ocean floor mining exploration contracts in the Atlantic\, Pacific and Indian Oceans. The majority of these contracts are for exploration in the Clarion–Clipperton zone between Hawaii and Mexico\, where polymetallic nodules contain copper\, cobalt and other minerals essential for powering electric batteries. To date\, the Authority has not authorized any commercial mining contracts as it continues to deliberate over regulations amid global calls for a moratorium on deep sea mining. Scientists and environmentalists warn that such mining could wreak havoc on the ocean\, a crucial carbon sink and home to rare and diverse species. Funded by UNCLOS members and mining contractors\, the Authority operates as an autonomous international organization with its own Assembly\, Council\, and Secretariat. DESCRIPTION:Steeds vaker bepalen een paar grote techbedrijven wat jij online wel en niet te zien krijgt\, berichten over onder andere klimaat\, mensenrechten\, Palestina en queer-acceptatie worden stilletjes weggehaald of nauwelijks nog getoond en haat en desinformatie krijgen tegelijk vaak vrij spel. \nDit heet shadowbanning. Je krijgt er geen melding van. Je kunt het nergens controleren. Dat is geen toeval. Voor platforms als Meta\, TikTok en X levert ophef nu eenmaal meer geld op. Maar zo bepaalt een handvol bedrijven welk verhaal Nederland te horen krijgt. En dat raakt onze democratie. Het gekke is: de Europese wet (de Digital Services Act) verbiedt dit eigenlijk al. Alleen handhaaft Nederland nauwelijks. Daarom starten we vandaag een burgerinitiatief. Met 40.000 handtekeningen kan de de Tweede Kamer worden gedwongen om dit probleem op tafel te leggen. SUMMARY:Amsterdam Pride en WorldPride Amsterdam 2026
DESCRIPTION:De Pride Amsterdam is een meerdaags evenement met een homocultureel karakter en wordt sinds 1996 jaarlijks rondom het eerste weekend van augustus gehouden in de binnenstad van Amsterdam. \nLhbtiq+-organisaties in de stad organiseren een maand lang allerlei activiteiten. In 2026 is de Amsterdam Pride van 8 tot en met 29 juli. Hoogtepunt is de Canal Parade\, een bonte stoet van boten die op de eerste zaterdag van augustus door de grachten vaart. De tocht gaat van het Oosterdok\, via de Nieuwe Herengracht\, de Amstel en de Prinsengracht naar het Westerdok. Op 4 november 2022 werd bekendgemaakt dat de WorldPride in 2026 in Amsterdam georganiseerd wordt. De WorldPride werd voor het eerst in 2000 gevierd in Rome en vindt sinds 2012 elke twee à drie jaar plaats. Meer nog dan reguliere Pride-feesten staat de WorldPride garant voor veel bezoekers van over de hele wereld. Dikwijls is het het grootste lgbtiq-evenement van het jaar. De WorldPride in Amsterdam zal tevens de EuroPride van 2026 zijn\, waarmee het voor de derde keer is dat de EuroPride in de hoofdstad gehouden wordt. De WorldPride is met een paar dagen overlap direct ná de Amsterdam Pride: van 25 juli tot en met 8 augustus. SUMMARY:Kwaku Summer Festival 2026
DESCRIPTION:Het Kwaku Summer Festival (voorheen het Kwakoe Zomerfestival) wordt sinds 1975 bijna elk jaar tijdens een aantal weekeinden in de zomer gehouden in het Nelson Mandelapark in Amsterdam-Zuidoost. \nHet is van origine een Surinaams festival\, maar het heeft zich ontwikkeld tot een multicultureel festival. Het festival is ontstaan in 1975 als voetbaltoernooi\, georganiseerd door Stichting Jongeren Centrum Kwakoe tijdens het 700-jarig bestaan van Amsterdam. Het speelde zich aanvankelijk af op de sportvelden van SV Bijlmer\, op de locatie van het huidige Bijlmerplein in Amsterdam Zuidoost. In 1983 verhuisde het festival naar de huidige locatie in het Nelson Mandelapark dat in die tijd Bijlmerpark heette. Eind jaren negentig dienden zowel het jongerencentrum Kwakoe als de organisatie van het festival een vergunningaanvraag in. De festivalorganisatie Stichting Kwakoe Events onder leiding van Winston Kout kreeg de vergunning toegewezen en heeft het festival sindsdien georganiseerd. Van een louter Surinaams feest\, voor arme Surinamers uit de Bijlmerhoogbouw die geen geld hebben om op vakantie te gaan\, ontwikkelde het festival zich sindsdien tot een multicultureel festival dat zich ook op Antillianen en Afrikanen richt. Voor €17 koop je een herbruikbare beker waarmee je de hele openingsdag\, elke 45 minuten opnieuw\, mag bijvullen bij een van de vier taplocaties. Bij realistisch gebruik (vijf tapbeurten cola) zit je al op 65 suikerklontjes: ruim tien keer de strengste WHO-streefwaarde van 25 gram (6 klontjes) vrije suikers per dag. Wie de beker maximaal benut\, komt tot 10 bekers per dag: 130 suikerklontjes\, nog voordat er een hap is gegeten. Er is bij de tap ook water en zijn er suikervrije varianten\, maar daar draait het concept niet om. D’n Dorstlesser wordt gepresenteerd en beleefd als attractie op zich: iets om de hele dag mee bezig te zijn\, niet als een simpel glaasje water erbij. Ook via suikervrije varianten wennen kinderen aan een zoete smaak en aan het idee dat de hele dag door tappen normaal is. UNODC\, as guardian of the United Nations Convention against Transnational Organized Crime (UNTOC) and the Protocols thereto\, assists States in their efforts to implement the Protocol to Prevent\, Suppress and Punish Trafficking in Persons (Trafficking in Persons Protocol). The Protocol to Prevent\, Suppress and Punish Trafficking in Persons defines Trafficking in Persons as the recruitment\, transportation\, transfer\, harbouring or receipt of persons\, by means of the threat or use of force or other forms of coercion\, of abduction\, of fraud\, of deception\, of the abuse of power or of a position of vulnerability or of the giving or receiving of payments or benefits to achieve the consent of a person having control over another person\, for the purpose of exploitation. Exploitation shall include\, at a minimum\, the exploitation of the prostitution of others or other forms of sexual exploitation\, forced labour or services\, slavery or practices similar to slavery\, servitude or the removal of organs. The World Day against Trafficking in Persons was proclaimed by the United Nations General Assembly\, in its resolution A/RES/68/192. Theme 2026\, “Trapped Behind the Scam\,” draws attention to a rapidly expanding form of human trafficking in which transnational organized crime groups exploit people to carry out industrial-scale financial fraud. By 4 August\, at least 99 of the migrants were reported to have died as a result of the incident. The European Union will hold emergency talks on Tuesday\, August 3\, to discuss the migration crisis in Ceuta after tense exchanges between Spain and other member states. Twenty-two member states issued a joint letter calling for co-ordinated action and the strengthening of the EU’s external borders\, after some 60\,000 migrants entered the Spanish enclave from Morocco. Ceuta and Melilla are two autonomous cities of Spain located on the north coast of Africa. The consequences are visible in deforestation\, soil erosion\, biodiversity loss\, and the accumulation of CO₂ in the atmosphere\, contributing to more frequent extreme weather events and declining food production. EOD is the calculated calendar date on which humanity’s resource consumption for the year exceeds Earth’s capacity to regenerate those resources that year. The term “overshoot” represents the level by which human population’s demand overshoots the sustainable amount of biological resources regenerated on Earth. When viewed through an economic perspective\, the annual EOD represents the day by which the planet’s annual regenerative budget is spent\, and humanity enters environmental deficit spending. DESCRIPTION:De meteorenzwerm δ-Cassiopeiïden bereikt op donderdag 30 juli 2026\, rond 04:00\, zijn maximum. \nWanneer de radiant in het zenit zou staan\, zouden er van deze zwerm naar verwachting gemiddeld zo’n 10 meteoren per uur vallen. De radiant van de zwerm staat rond 06:00 in het hoogste punt aan de hemel\, op 79° boven de horizon. Het beste moment om δ-Cassiopeiïden waar te nemen is op 30 juli rond 04:15. De radiant staat op dat moment zo’n 72° boven de noordoostelijke horizon. Er is dan bij ons ieder uur niet meer dan één meteoor zichtbaar van deze zwerm. Samen met meteoren van andere zwermen\, en sporadische meteoren\, zijn er bij donkere\, heldere hemel in totaal circa 1–5 meteoren per uur zichtbaar. De Maan is voor ongeveer 100% verlicht en is een flinke stoorzender; dit jaar zijn hierdoor alleen de helderste meteoren zichtbaar. Rond 05:15 gaat het schemeren en om 05:58 komt de Zon op. Over het algemeen zijn de de meteoren van een zwerm niet alleen op de dag van het maximum zichtbaar. Zo is gedurende circa 5 dagen rondom het maximum meer dan de helft van het maximum aantal meteoren per uur van de δ-Cassiopeiïden te zien. Tot 6 dagen voor en na het maximum zijn nog meteoren van deze zwerm te herkennen. De zwerm heeft daarmee een relatief korte piek. Probeer dus ook enkele nachten voor en na het maximum meteoren waar te nemen. Wel is iedere dag die je eerder voor het maximum\, of later na het maximum waarneemt het aantal meteoren dat zichtbaar is circa 20% kleiner. Opvallend genoeg nam het aantal branden in die periode juist af. Net als het oppervlak verbrande natuur in Zuid-Europa\, al schommelde dat flink van jaar tot jaar. Het onderzoek gaat dus niet over de huidige branden in Frankrijk en Spanje. Menselijk gedrag veroorzaakt de meeste ontstekingen; als mensen minder peuken achteloos weggooien of minder brandstichten\, leidt dat tot minder branden. Zij verwachten van onze regering dat zij zich onvermoeibaar in gaat zetten voor consistente naleving van het internationaal recht. Concreet stellen zij vier eisen aan de Nederlandse regering en verwachten wij van de regering dat alle diplomatieke middelen worden aangewend om onderstaande te bewerkstelligen: \n1. Maximale inzet op een onmiddellijk en permanent staakt-het-vuren en volledige humanitaire toegang tot Gaza. \n2. ⁠Een eind aan alle vormen van steun voor én rechtvaardiging van Israëls huidige militaire optreden in Gaza en erkenning van het internationale humanitaire en oorlogsrecht; \n3. ⁠De onmiddellijke naleving van uitspraken van het Internationaal Gerechtshof (ICJ). \n4.
