Het is aan ambtenaren om de politiek erop te wijzen wanneer beleid het internationaal recht (mogelijk) schaadt. En die taak – die plicht – nemen zij zeer serieus. Zij verwachten van onze regering dat zij zich onvermoeibaar in gaat zetten voor consistente naleving van het internationaal recht. Concreet stellen zij vier eisen aan de Nederlandse regering en verwachten wij van de regering dat alle diplomatieke middelen worden aangewend om onderstaande te bewerkstelligen: \n1. Maximale inzet op een onmiddellijk en permanent staakt-het-vuren en volledige humanitaire toegang tot Gaza. \n2. ⁠Een eind aan alle vormen van steun voor én rechtvaardiging van Israëls huidige militaire optreden in Gaza en erkenning van het internationale humanitaire en oorlogsrecht; \n3. ⁠De onmiddellijke naleving van recente uitspraken van het Internationaal Gerechtshof (ICJ). \n4. DESCRIPTION:The International Day of Remembrance of the Victims of Slavery and the Transatlantic Slave Trade is a time for reflection\, but it is also a time for education. \nDespite myths to the contrary\, enslaved Africans enriched the Americas not just through their labour but also through a transfer of vital skills and knowledge. In addition\, rather than accepting their fate\, they engaged in powerful acts of resistance. The United Nations works to highlight such stories through its Outreach Programme on the Transatlantic Slave Trade and Slavery\, which is managed by the Department of Global Communications\, and the Routes of Enslaved Peoples Project\, which is run by the United Nations Educational\, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO). In 2006\, the United Nations General Assembly\, through resolution 61/19\, recognized that “the slave trade and slavery are among the worst violations of human rights in the history of humanity\, bearing in mind particularly their scale and duration” and designated 25 March 2007 as the International Day for the Commemoration of the Two-hundredth Anniversary of the Abolition of the Transatlantic Slave Trade. \nThe following year\, through resolution 62/122\, it designated 25 March as an annual International Day of Remembrance of the Victims of Slavery and the Transatlantic Slave Trade\, beginning in 2008. The Abolition of the Slave Trade Act was passed in the United Kingdom on 25 March 1807. From that day on\, “all manner of dealing and reading in the purchase\, sale\, barter\, or transfer of slaves or of persons intending to be sold\, transferred\, used\, or dealt with as slaves\, practiced or carried in\, at\, or from any part of the coast or countries of Africa shall be abolished\, prohibited and declared to be unlawful”. However\, while the act abolished the transatlantic trade in enslaved Africans\, it did not abolish slavery\, which still continued for decades. DESCRIPTION:The Day of Solidarity with Detained and Missing Staff Members is marked each year on the anniversary of the abduction of Alec Collett\, a former journalist who was working for the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA) when he was abducted by armed gunman in 1985; his body was finally found in Lebanon’s Bekaa Valley in 2009. \nThe Day of Solidarity with Detained and Missing Staff Members has taken on even greater importance in recent years\, as attacks against the United Nations intensify.  This is a day to mobilize action\, demand justice and strengthen their resolve to protect UN staff and peacekeepers\, as well as their colleagues in the non-governmental community and the press. Since the founding of the United Nations in 1945\, hundreds of brave men and women have lost their lives in its service. During the 1990s\, the growing number and scale of UN peacekeeping missions put many more at risk. DESCRIPTION:Maandelijkse Klimaatwakes om elkaar vast te houden. \nZorgen delen\, hoe doe je dat? Al die angstaanjagende berichten over de opwarming van de aarde tot je nemen? Hoe ga je verder met je dagelijks leven\, als je weet dat elders op de wereld verschrikkelijke bosbranden gaande zijn? Bosbranden gaande zijn? Kan dat eigenlijk? Niet wegkijken van al die gevolgen van de klimaatcrisis en toch iets van levensgeluk vasthouden? Het leven ondanks alles blijven vieren? Velen van ons hebben besloten om zich in te zetten om de klimaatcrisis aan te pakken. Dat kan zijn door plantaardig te eten\, of minder plastic te gebruiken. Anderen gaan het gesprek aan in hun omgeving om bewustwording te vergroten. Of gaan over tot actie\, samen met één van de milieu-organisaties als Milieudefensie\, Greenpeace of Extinction Rebellion. \nVoor zoveel mogelijk mensen die boos\, bezorgd of verdrietig zijn over het klimaat en geïnspireerd zijn om iets te veranderen aan de toestand van het klimaat. Activisten\, bezorgde mensen\, religieus en niet-religieus\, jongeren en volwassenen. Bezoekers van de Klimaatwakes zoeken inspiratie om zich actief in te zetten. Samen delen waar je bang voor bent\, omdat je niet wilt wegkijken\, maar klimaat-rampen onder ogen zien\, geeft troost. Soms merk je dat je inzet tegen de klimaatcrisis je kan vervreemden of isoleren van je vrienden of familie. Of je kan je verdrietig en gefrustreerd voelen dat er zo slecht geluisterd wordt door overheid en bedrijven. De Klimaatwakes zijn een plek waar zorgen over de toekomst van de aarde gedeeld kunnen worden. \nOp 24 maart was de spreker bij de Klimaatwake Lucas Winnips\, woordvoerder bij Extinction Rebellion en organisator van #StopfossieleSubsidies. Winnips: “Door de frames die op aktievoeren worden gelegd\, zoals: ‘Aktievoeren heeft geen zin’\, en: ‘De mensen willen XR niet meer!’ en: ‘Het thema Klimaat is een luxe\, er zijn nu urgentere problemen!’\, zou je bijna de moed verliezen. Maar vreedzame burgerlijke ongehoorzaamheid werkt en is noodzakelijk! De VN-klimaatrapporteur verklaarde vreedzame burgerlijke ongehoorzaamheid voor het Klimaat legitiem en legaal. Daarom maakt Winnips tijdens de Klimaatwake van 24 maart bekend wat de grote voorjaarsaktie van Extinction Rebellion zal zijn tegen de fossiele subsidies. DESCRIPTION:Mensen met een arbeidsbeperking en mantelzorgers hebben zware verplichtingen en lopen grote financiële risico’s wanneer zij geen werk vinden\, terwijl werkgevers geen vergelijkbare consequenties ondervinden bij afwijzing. \nHet gevolg is dat mensen die wél willen en kunnen werken\, maar niet binnen het fulltime model passen\, structureel buitenspel blijven staan. Het is belangrijk dat er meer parttime banen komen van 4\, 5 of 6 uur per dag\, zodat veel meer mensen de mogelijkheid krijgen om te werken. Ook als jou dit nu niet raakt: ziekte of zorg kan iedereen treffen. Meer ruimte voor parttime werken vergroot de kans voor velen. Delen wordt gewaardeerd: met je netwerk\, vakbonden\, politieke partijen en via social media. Met jouw handtekening\, jouw betrokkenheid bij deze actie en jouw bereidheid om te delen zorg je voor een groter bereik. DESCRIPTION:The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) Panel meets in plenary session about twice a year. It may meet more often for the approval of reports. \nThe Panel controls the IPCC’s structure\, procedures\, work programme\, and budget and accepts and approves IPCC reports. The Panel is the IPCC corporate entity. The IPCC is an intergovernmental body of the United Nations (UN). Its job is to “provide governments at all levels with scientific information that they can use to develop climate policies“. The World Meteorological Organization (WMO) and the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) set up the IPCC in 1988. The UN endorsed the creation of the IPCC later that year. It has a secretariat in Geneva\, Switzerland\, hosted by the WMO. It has 195 member states who govern the IPCC. The member states elect a bureau of scientists to serve through an assessment cycle. A cycle is usually six to seven years. The bureau selects experts in their fields to prepare IPCC reports. There is a formal nomination process by governments and observer organizations to find these experts. Monsignor Romero was actively engaged in denouncing violations of the human rights of the most vulnerable individuals in El Salvador. DESCRIPTION:The experiment successfully transported a trap filled with antiprotons across CERN’s main site\, a remarkable first step towards delivering antimatter to other European laboratories. \na team of scientists from the BASE experiment at CERN successfully transported a trap filled with antiprotons in a truck across the Laboratory’s main site. The team managed to accumulate a cloud of 92 antiprotons in an innovative portable cryogenic Penning trap\, then disconnect it from the experimental facility\, load it onto a truck and continue experiment operation after transport. This is a remarkable achievement\, given that antimatter is very difficult to preserve\, as it annihilates upon contact with matter. This world premiere is a test\, the ultimate aim being to transport antiprotons to other European laboratories\, such as Heinrich Heine University Düsseldorf (HHU)\, where very-high-precision measurements of the antiproton properties could be performed. Antimatter is a naturally occurring class of particles that is almost identical to ordinary matter except that the electric charge and magnetic moment are reversed. According to the laws of physics\, the Big Bang should have produced equal amounts of matter and antimatter. These equal-but-opposite particles would have quickly annihilated each other\, leaving an empty Universe. However\, our Universe contains predominantly matter\, and this imbalance has baffled scientists for decades. DESCRIPTION:Volgens onderzoek van het Ministerie van Sociale Zekerheid en Welzijn (2024)\, ervaren van de ruim 2 miljoen Aziatische Nederlanders\, 1 op de 3 racisme en discriminatie\, onder Chinese Nederlanders is dat zelfs 1 op de 2. \nEn nog steeds wordt anti-Aziatisch racisme niet gezien. Niet begrepen. En keer op keer gedoogd. “Genoeg is genoeg\,” zei Ruud de Wild op maandag 23 maart 2026. Maar dat is juist wat Aziatische Nederlanders al jaren zeggen. In 2020 zei DeGoedeZaak het al in de petitie ‘Wij zijn geen virussen‘\, die door meer dan 65.000 mensen werd ondertekend. Zij maken nog elke dag racisme mee. Op radio. Op tv. In campagnes. In klaslokalen. Steeds opnieuw hetzelfde beeld: Aziaten als grap. Als stereotype. Als karikatuur. [1] Dit is niet onschuldig\, maar leidt ook tot verbaal en fysiek geweld! Daarom moeten we nu in actie komen en de normalisering van deze vorm van racisme stoppen. Het is belangrijk dat dit niet wordt weggewuifd! Er moet verantwoordelijkheid worden genomen door de media die macht heeft over wat als ‘normaal’ gezien wordt. Daarom vragen we de minister van Onderwijs\, Cultuur en Wetenschap deze verantwoordelijkheid te nemen. Er moeten nu stappen genomen worden tegen de normalisering van anti-Aziatisch racisme. Zolang racisme wordt weggewoven\, groeit het. Daarin mogen we niet selectief zijn. Als we niet alle vormen van racisme serieus nemen\, beschermen we uiteindelijk niemand. Voor het racisme en geweld dat Aziatische Nederlanders nu mee maken\, moeten we de volgende generatie beschermen. Daarvoor is nu actie nodig! De petitie ‘Stop de normalisering van anti-Aziatisch racisme in media‘ is door DeGoedeZaak gestart namens de diverse Aziatisch-Nederlandse gemeenschappen\, Hui-Hui Pan (Pan Asian Collective)\, Rui-Jun Luong (Asian Raisins)\, Julie Ng (Meer dan Babi Pangang) en het anti-Aziatisch Racisme Manifest. Zij zetten zich elke dag in om deze normalisering tegen te gaan. Het is aan ons om naast hen te gaan staan.
