DESCRIPTION:Het FIFAwereldkampioenschap voetbal mannen in 2026 is de 23ste editie van een internationaal voetbaltoernooi tussen de nationale mannenteams van landen die aangesloten zijn bij de FIFA\, zal gehouden worden in Canada\, Mexico en de Verenigde Staten van 11 juni tot en met 19 juli 2026. \nDit is de eerste editie waarbij 48 landen actief zullen zijn op het eindtoernooi. Die landen worden verdeeld over twaalf groepen met vier landen waarvan dan de nummer 1\, 2 en acht nummers 3 door zullen gaan naar de zestiende finales. Het is het eerste wereldkampioenschap dat in drie landen georganiseerd wordt. Het eindtoernooi duurt 40 dagen en in totaal worden er 104 wedstrijden gespeeld. Een uitdaging vormen de grote afstanden tussen de verschillende speelsteden. DESCRIPTION:TUI Group krijgt Gouden Bullshit Award van Floortje Dessing om tickets voor dolfijnenshows. \nTUI Group krijgt de Gouden Bullshit Award vanwege de kaartverkoop voor attracties met dolfijnen en orka’s in gevangenschap. Floortje Dessing overhandigde de prijs op het Nederlandse TUI-hoofdkantoor in Rijswijk. TUI Group verkoopt wereldwijd zo’n 400 uitjes met dolfijnen\, orka’s en beloega’s in gevangenschap. Het gaat bijvoorbeeld om dolfinaria\, shows en attracties als zwem- en fotosessies. Met de Gouden Bullshit Award vestigen we aandacht op bedrijven die misstappen begaan op het gebied van dierenwelzijn. In 2025 won Rabobank de prijs (toen nog Gouden Koeienvlaai genoemd) vanwege het uitkleden van het dierenwelzijnsbeleid. TUI verkoopt onder meer kaartjes voor het omstreden SeaWorld en Loro Parque op Tenerife\, die hevig worden bekritiseerd vanwege shows met orka’s en dolfijnen en slechte leefomstandigheden voor de dieren. Een van de dieren die in Loro Parque gevangen zit is de ‘Nederlandse’ orka Morgan. Deze orka werd 16 jaar geleden in de Waddenzee gevonden en zit sindsdien in Loro Parque\, waar ze twee kalfjes kreeg. Opvallend\, aangezien TUI’s beleid het fokken met dieren voor commerciële doeleinden verbiedt. Het eerste kalfje is op tweejarige leeftijd overleden. Floortje Dessing spreekt zich al langer uit tegen de kaartverkoop van TUI. In 2025 schreef ze samen met BN’ers als Jennifer Hofman en Anita Witzier een open brief naar TUI met de oproep om kaartverkoop voor attracties met walvisachtigen in gevangenschap te stoppen. Floortje was donderdag 11 juni 2026 te gast bij RTL Tonight om over de uitreiking te praten. Onder meer Booking.com\, Expedia Group\, Corendon\, Sunweb Group en Tripadvisor bieden geen dolfijnenvermaak meer aan. Reisbrancheorganisatie ANVR vindt attracties met shows met walvisachtigen in gevangenschap ‘onacceptabel’. World Animal Protection Nederland roept TUI Group op om te stoppen met de kaartverkoop voor vermaak met walvisachtigen. In educational settings\, play-based learning has been recognized as an effective approach to engage students actively in the learning process. It helps make learning more enjoyable and relevant\, thereby enhancing motivation and retention of information. Moreover\, play is considered to have a positive impact on promoting tolerance\, resilience\, and facilitating social inclusion\, conflict prevention\, and peacebuilding. Play creates powerful learning opportunities across all areas of development – intellectual\, social\, emotional and physical. Through play\, children learn to forge connections with others\, build a wide range of leadership skills\, develop resilience\, navigate relationships and social challenges as well as conquer their fears. When children play\, they feel safe. Children play to make sense of the world around them. More generally\, play provides a platform for children to express and develop imagination and creativity\, which are key skills critical for the technology-driven and innovative world we live in. Playful interactions contribute to the well-being and positive mental health of parents\, caregivers and children. When humanitarian crises turn a child’s world upside down\, it is in play that children can both find safety and respite from adverse experience while also being able to explore and process their experiences with the world. When children are driven from their homes by war\, conflict\, and displacement\, access to nurturing relationships with parents/caregivers and peers are critical buffers from the effects of violence\, distress and other adverse experiences. In addition\, there were 68.7 million people displaced within their own country due to conflict or violence. The global number of refugees fell during 2025 with a decrease of 3 per cent compared to the end of 2024. This change reflects a sharp increase in the returns of refugees\, mostly to Afghanistan\, Syria and Sudan. The number of IDPs also decreased due to the returns of IDPs primarily in the Democratic Republic of the Congo\, Sudan and Syria. Als het aan de VVD-jongeren ligt\, gaat de AOW helemáál van tafel. DESCRIPTION:Vlees: natuurlijk en traditioneel\, én… ultrabewerkt? \nHet rapport ‘The EU Meat Industry : Illusions of Tradition and Naturalness‘ (Engelstalig) gaat over een gevoelig thema\, het roept altijd weerstand op als Foodwatch het over de vleesindustrie heeft. Foodwatch vertelt je vaak hoe grote voedselbedrijven de publieke opinie beïnvloeden en welke marketingtactieken ze daarvoor gebruiken. Maar op de een of andere manier denken veel mensen dat het bij de vleesindustrie anders is. Dat zij geen grote lobbyclubs en marketingbudgetten hebben om hun producten zo populair mogelijk te maken. Alsof zij de enige speler in de voedselindustrie zijn die nog wél voor natuurlijke\, traditionele producten zorgt. Foodwatch heeft gekeken naar hoe de vleesindustrie lobbyt en het maatschappelijke debat kleurt. Dat doen ze met succes\, ze spreken namelijk veel mensen die overtuigd zijn van hetzelfde beeld dat de industrie al jaren schetst: vlees is traditioneel\, ambachtelijk\, natuurlijk. Door dit dieper te onderzoeken blijkt: dat beeld klopt grotendeels niet. De boerderij uit de reclamefolder bestaat bijna niet meer. Ja\, er is de biologische\, grasgevoerde koe die vrij in de wei loopt. Maar dat is veruit de minderheid: biologisch vlees heeft in Nederland een marktaandeel van slechts 2-3% van al het vlees dat wordt verkocht. De overgrote meerderheid van het vlees dat we eten komt uit een heel andere realiteit. Cijfers die tot nadenken stemmen: \n\n90% van de Europese vleeskuikens leeft binnen\, in intensieve stallen;\n99% van de Europese varkens ziet nooit daglicht;\nMeer dan 80% van de Europese melk komt van intensieve melkveehouderijen;\nTussen 2005 en 2020 verdween 37% van de Europese boerenbedrijven\, 5\,3 miljoen stuks\, vooral familiebedrijven.\n\nHet gaat dus niet (meer) over de idyllische boerderijen van de reclame. Landbouw in de Europese Unie (EU\, Europa) is met name industriële productie op grote schaal. Tachtig procent van de Europese landbouwsubsidies gaat naar slechts 20% van alle bedrijven: de grootste en meest intensieve. De hardwerkende boer met een minder grote boerderij profiteert hier juist niet van\, die wordt zelfs uit de markt geprijsd. Foodwatch voert campagne over en waarschuwen voor de risico’s van ultrabewerkt voedsel (Ultra Processed Foods\, UPF)\, daar horen jullie regelmatig over. Wat veel mensen niet weten: worst\, spek en ham vormen in Europa de tweede grootste categorie ultrabewerkte voeding. En dan wordt vlees vaak door de eigen sector weggezet als ‘natuurlijk’\, terwijl vegetarische alternatieven als ‘kunstmatig’ en ‘fabrieksmatig’ worden bestempeld. De tegenstelling tussen ‘natuurlijk vlees’ vs. ‘ultrabewerkte vegetarische alternatieven’ klopt dus niet. Er bestaat ultrabewerkt vlees én ultrabewerkte vegetarische alternatieven\, net zoals er lichtbewerkt vlees én lichtbewerkte vegetarische alternatieven bestaan. In Europa is de discussie over strengere regels voor UPF in volle gang. Maar het risico is dat de vleessector hier buiten schot blijft. Woorden als ’traditioneel’\, ‘ambachtelijk’ en ‘natuurlijk’ zijn in de EU niet wettelijk beschermd. Producenten zetten ze groot voorop de verpakking\, terwijl de toevoegingen (vaak allesbehalve natuurlijk) achterop in mini-lettertjes staan. Misleiding pur sang. En die toevoegingen zijn best schrikbarend: de EU staat namelijk meer dan 1.400 toevoegingen aan diervoer toe\, tegenover ’slechts’ 338 in voeding voor menselijke consumptie. Via het vlees dat je eet\, krijg je dus soms stoffen binnen die in voeding voor mensen helemaal niet zijn toegestaan. Het UPF-debat is te belangrijk om de vleesindustrie te laten wegkomen met een rol die haar niet toekomt: die van het louter gezonde\, natuurlijke alternatief. Ook organiseerde het instituut zeven focusgroepen\, waarin deelnemers verschillende socialemediaberichten kregen voorgelegd. Of mensen misinformatie op sociale media geloven\, hangt voor een belangrijk deel samen met hun ervaringen in de offline wereld. This year’s colloquium topic was “Navigating Public Health in times of Global uncertainties”. Over two days\, a series of interactive lectures addressed topics related to the impact of conflicts on Public Health systems\, global sharing of health data in times of uncertainty\, the current shifts in health governance at local\, national and international level as well as the citizens’ trust in Public Health science. The lectures were  complemented by a panel discussion. \nThe Robert Koch Colloquium 2026 addressed an urgent challenge of today’s public health landscape: how to adapt to global uncertainties and political fragmentation. Armed conflicts\, political and economic instability\, climate-related pressures\, and fluctuating public trust increasingly shape the contexts in which public health systems operate\, challenging established modes-of-action and international cooperation. In response to these dynamics\, the RKC 2026 brought together leading international experts to reflect on how public health can respond and evolve under conditions of crisis and transformation. Over two days\, the programme examined public health action in times of crisis. We explored\n1) the health impacts of armed conflict on population health including mental health and non-communicable diseases.\n2) widening inequalities in times of global polycrisis.\n3) the need for a resilient global health architecture during geopolitical shifts in power and interests. The colloquium also shed light on advancing health data justice and the development of resilient cross-border data-sharing frameworks that can withstand political and financial pressures. Loop de supermarkt in en je ziet het meteen: chips\, snoep en frisdrank liggen overal\, zijn goedkoop en worden je constant aangeprezen. Een appel of een krop sla? Die moet je zelf actief opzoeken. Dat is geen toeval. Dat is een systeem waarin ongezond eten de makkelijke\, goedkope en verleidelijke standaard is\, en gezond eten juist niet. Daar hebben 21 gezondheids- en burgerorganisaties genoeg van. Ze hebben een oproep gedaan naar de Europese Commissie met een duidelijke boodschap: maak er nu eindelijk werk van. Stop met wachten. Maak de gezonde keuze de makkelijke keuze. Foodwatch voert al langer campagne op deze onderwerpen\, en hebben daardoor bij een aantal punten uit de oproep ook al een lopende petitie. Waarom we die petities blijven voeren? Omdat het werkt. Ieder jaar brengen tienduizenden e-mails en handtekeningen van consumenten de voedingsindustrie en overheden op andere gedachten. Ook in Europa\, waar deze oproep over gaat\, werkt het. De medewerker van Foodwatch in Brussel spreekt regelmatig met Europarlementariërs\, en neemt dan de handtekeningen mee van de petities\, en die van collega-kantoren in Duitsland\, België\, Oostenrijk en Frankrijk. Zo kan ze laten zien dat dit onderwerp écht leeft onder de Europese bevolking. En hoe groter die stapel handtekeningen\, hoe groter de kans dat er naar haar geluisterd wordt. Waar wordt om gevraagd in de oproep aan Europa?\n🚫 Geen reclame voor troep gericht op kinderen\nKinderen kunnen nog niet doorzien dat reclame hen probeert te verleiden. Toch worden ze dagelijks gebombardeerd met reclame voor snoep\, chips en frisdrank. Op tv\, op YouTube\, in games. Dat moet stoppen. Het beloofde verbod op kindermarketing ligt al jaren op de plank: roep nu op tot actie.\npetitie tegen kindermarketing.\n🥕 Gezond eten op school en bij de overheid\nOp scholen\, in ziekenhuizen en bij andere overheidsinstellingen moet gezond eten de norm zijn. Niet de uitzondering.\n🏭 Bedrijven moeten hun producten gezonder maken\nFabrikanten van kant-en-klaarmaaltijden\, frisdrank en snacks moeten worden gestimuleerd om minder suiker\, zout en vet in hun producten te stoppen.\n🏷️ Een duidelijk label op de voorkant van de verpakking\nNu moet je als consument zelf uitpuzzelen of iets gezond is. Product in de ene hand\, bachelordiploma scheikunde in de andere. Wij willen één simpel\, verplicht label voorop de verpakking\, zodat je in één oogopslag ziet wat je koopt.\npetitie voor een verplichte Nutri-Score.\n💶 Overheidsgeld naar gezond eten\, niet naar ongezond\nOp dit moment gaat er nog steeds subsidiegeld naar de promotie van ongezonde producten. They are the lungs of our Planet and a major source of food and medicine and a critical part of the biosphere. The purpose of the Day is to inform the public of the impact of human actions on the ocean\, develop a worldwide movement of citizens for the ocean\, and mobilize and unite the world’s population on a project for the sustainable management of the world’s oceans. Hosted by the Division for Ocean Affairs and the Law of the Sea of the Office of Legal Affairs of the United Nations\, in partnership with the non-profit organization Oceanic Global\, this year’s annual program will celebrate the wonders of the ocean as a source of life that supports humanity and all other organisms on Earth. The ocean covers over 70% of the planet. Het wordt elke zondagmorgen uitgezonden tussen 07:00 en 10:00 op NPO Radio 1. De beginmuziek is een bewerking van Vivaldi’s “Piccolo Concerto in C major” (RV 443). De tv editie wordt uitgezonden via NPO 2 op zondag\, vaak rond een thema. \nVanuit het stadscentrum van ’s-Hertogenbosch vaart de filmploeg een indrukwekkend moeras in: De Overlaat. Historisch gezien was het gebied van groot belang als waterberging en als militair verdedigingswerk voor de stad\, die niet voor niets bekend staat als de Moerasdraak. Maar ook de natuur profiteert! Met de Sint Jan op de achtergrond monitort Menno Bentveld grote modderkruipers die door het plantenrijke water zwemmen. Lepelaars en roerdompen vliegen over een oude spoorbrug. Aan de randen van het moeras\, richting de hogere zandgronden\, groeit blauwgrasland. Daar fladderen tal van dagvlinders en groeit een wel heel bijzondere orchidee. De Overlaat bestaat uit een aantal deelgebieden. Het Bossche Broek Noord en de Moerputten zijn van Staatsbosbeheer. DESCRIPTION:Vroege Vogels is een live-radioprogramma\, tv-programma en online community van BNNVARA over natuur en milieu. \nIn het radioprogramma wordt het gesproken woord omlijst door licht klassieke muziek en salonmuziek. Het radioprogramma werd in 1978 voor het eerst uitgezonden door de VARA en is een van de langst lopende en best beluisterde radioprogramma’s van de publieke omroep. Het wordt elke zondagmorgen uitgezonden tussen 07:00 en 10:00 op NPO Radio 1. De beginmuziek is een bewerking van Vivaldi’s “Piccolo Concerto in C major” (RV 443). \nDe meeste viseitjes zijn piepklein en drijven mee op de oceaanstromen. Toch zijn juist deze kwetsbare viseitjes misschien wel de sleutel tot het herstel van koraalriffen. Normaal is vogelgids Fred Pansa in de jungle van Suriname te vinden. Maar ook voor Nederlandse natuur haalt hij zijn neus niet op. Schrijver en historicus Eva Vriend schreef vorig jaar het essay ‘De Waterzoon’\, over vader Jac. P. en zoon Jo Thijsse. En verder: Beleef de Lente\, de grote rietsigaargalvlieg\, de dichter van Pampus en waterdiertjes. De column is van Dolf Jansen. DESCRIPTION:Food safety is the absence — or safe\, acceptable levels — of hazards in food that may harm the health of consumers. \nFood-borne hazards can be microbiological\, chemical or physical in nature and are often invisible to the plain eye: bacteria\, viruses\, or pesticide residues are some examples. Food safety has a critical role in assuring that food stays safe at every stage of the food chain – from production to harvest\, processing\, storage\, distribution\, all the way to preparation and consumption. With an estimated 600 million cases of foodborne illnesses annually\, unsafe food is a threat to human health and economies\, disproportionally affecting vulnerable and marginalized people\, especially women and children\, populations affected by conflict\, and migrants. An estimated three million people around the world — in developed and developing countries — die every year from food and waterborne disease. Food is the starting point for our energy\, our health and our well-being. We often take for granted that it is safe\, but in an increasingly complex and interconnected world where food value chains are growing longer\, standards and regulations are that much more important in keeping us safe. Food safety is key to achieving several of the Sustainable Development Goals and World Food Safety Day brings it into the spotlight\, to help prevent\, detect and manage foodborne risks. Safe food contributes to economic prosperity\, boosting agriculture\, market access\, tourism and sustainable development. \n\nGoal 2 — There is no food security without food safety. Ending hunger is about all people having access to safe\, nutritious and sufficient food all year round.\nGoal 3 — Food safety has a direct impact on people’s health and nutritional intake. DESCRIPTION:The World Swift Day (WSD) was created in January 2019 by Swifts Without Frontiers. \nEvery year since then\, it has been celebrated around the globe\, on June 7. Since day 1\, Dr. Jane Goodall has been an enthusiatic Patron\, each and every year. Swifts Without Frontiers invites all NGO’s\, municipalities\, individuals\, companies\, schools and any collectivity caring for Swifts to celebrate that day by communicating about Swifts (whichever species) and by organizing events. WSD was initially inspired by other World Days like the World Sparrow Day\, then by the World Chimpanzee Day. The date of June 7 was chozen as the best “compromise date” between both hemispheres and all the different Swift species of the world.
