De SDGs zijn van 2016 tot 2030 van kracht\, en vervangen de millenniumdoelstellingen die eind 2015 zijn vervallen. Er zijn 17 doelstellingen en 169 onderliggende targets om deze doelen te operationaliseren. De lidstaten moeten zelf zorgen voor vertaling in nationaal beleid. SUMMARY:ExoMars
DESCRIPTION:ExoMars (Exobiology on Mars) is an astrobiology programme of the European Space Agency (ESA) and the Russian space agency Roscosmos. \nThe goals of ExoMars are to search for signs of past life on Mars\, investigate how the Martian water and geochemical environment varies\, investigate atmospheric trace gases and their sources and by doing so demonstrate the technologies for a future Mars sample-return mission. The first part of the programme is a mission launched in 2016 that placed the Trace Gas Orbiter into Mars orbit and released the Schiaparelli EDM lander. The orbiter is operational but the lander crashed on the planet’s surface. The second part of the programme was planned to launch in July 2020\, when the Kazachok lander would have delivered the Rosalind Franklin rover on the surface\, supporting a science mission that was expected to last into 2022 or beyond. On 12 March 2020\, it was announced that the second mission was being delayed to 2022 as a result of problems with the parachutes\, which could not be resolved in time for the launch window. \nThe Trace Gas Orbiter (TGO) and a test stationary lander called Schiaparelli were launched on 14 March 2016. TGO entered Mars orbit on 19 October 2016 and proceeded to map the sources of methane (CH4) and other trace gases present in the Martian atmosphere that could be evidence for possible biological or geological activity. The TGO features four instruments and will also act as a communications relay satellite. The Schiaparelli experimental lander separated from TGO on 16 October and was maneuvered to land in Meridiani Planum\, but it crashed on the surface of Mars. The landing was designed to test new key technologies to safely deliver the subsequent rover mission. \nIn June 2023\, a Roscosmos lander named Kazachok (refers to “little Cossack” as well as a folk dance)\, was due to deliver the ESA Rosalind Franklin rover to the Martian surface. The rover would also include some Roscosmos built instruments. DESCRIPTION:Het project Zuidasdok betreft het in een tunnel leggen van Ringweg A10 ter hoogte van de Amsterdamse stadswijk Zuidas. \nHet heeft tot doel de bereikbaarheid en het leefklimaat van het gebied er direct omheen en ook de noordelijke Randstad\, zowel over de weg als met het openbaar vervoer\, te verbeteren. De bedoeling is dat de barrièrewerking van de snelweg weggenomen wordt. De A10 wordt over een lengte van ruim 5 km verbreed met extra rijstroken tussen en met inbegrip van de knooppunten De Nieuwe Meer en Amstel (twee keer zes rijstroken: vier rijstroken voor doorgaand verkeer en twee rijstroken voor bestemmingsverkeer). De wegcapaciteit wordt hiermee verdubbeld en conflicten tussen in- en uitvoegend verkeer worden verminderd. DESCRIPTION:De Solar Orbiter (SOLO) is een ruimtemissie van de Europese Ruimtevaartorganisatie (ESA) en de Amerikaanse Ruimtevaartorganisatie (NASA)\, het doel is om een observatiesatelliet in een baan rond de Zon te brengen. \nDe onbemande ruimtesonde werd op 10 februari 2020\, om 4:03 (UTC) met een Atlas V-411-raket vanaf lanceercomplex SLC-41 op Cape Canaveral AFS gelanceerd. Vanaf een elliptische baan observeert de Solar Orbiter de Zon op dichte afstand\, tot maar 0\,22 AU (ongeveer een vijfde van de afstand tussen de zon en de Aarde)\, ofwel 48 keer de straal van de Zon. Dit maakt het mogelijk om foto’s te nemen van de zon op hogere resolutie dan ooit tevoren. Vooral de poolregio’s van de Zon zijn met de satelliet veel beter te zien dan vanaf de Aarde. Naast het fotograferen\, observeren en beter in kaart brengen van de Zon doet de ruimtesonde ook onderzoek naar de heliosfeer\, het gebied rond de Zon waar de zonnewind overheerst. De ruimtesonde wordt voortgedreven door een ionenmotor (Solar Electric Primary Propulsion). Deze zet met behulp van zonnepanelen zonlicht om in elektriciteit. Hiermee worden gasatomen elektrisch geladen. Als deze het ruimtevaartuig verlaten stuwen ze door hun reactiekracht het ruimtevaartuig voort. Dit betrekkelijk nieuwe type aandrijving werd met succes getest door de SMART-1\, een observatiesatelliet van ESA die van 2003 tot 2006 in een baan rond de Maan draaide. De Solar Orbiter is de opvolger van twee eerdere ruimtesondes naar de Zon\, de Ulysses (gelanceerd in 1990) en de SOHO (gelanceerd in 1995). Het oorspronkelijke besluit tot de Solar Orbiter-missie werd in 2001 genomen.[2] Na enkele jaren van voorbereidend onderzoek kreeg het programma in 2007 het groene licht voor de formele definitiefase. De Solar Orbiter is onderdeel van het HELEX (Heliophysics Explorers)-onderzoeksprogramma\, samen met de Parker Solar Probe van NASA die in augustus 2018 gelanceerd is en de Zon nog veel dichter benadert dan de Solar Orbiter\, tot maar 9 keer de straal van de Zon. DESCRIPTION:De beste remedie tegen armoede is bestaanszekerheid! \nVolgens het Sociaal en Cultureel Planbureau leven ruim 800.000 mensen (2022) in armoede\, onder wie meer dan 200.000 kinderen. Zij hebben langdurig onvoldoende geld om rond te komen. Armoede leidt tot stress en andere gezondheidsklachten. Mensen in armoede sterven eerder en leven minder jaren in goede gezondheid dan anderen. Om te voorkomen dat mensen in armoede moeten leven\, zijn er toeslagen en allerlei regelingen die per gemeente verschillen. Vaak zijn daar ingewikkelde bureaucratische procedures aan verbonden. Een aanzienlijk deel van de ondersteuning wordt niet gebruikt door mensen die er recht op hebben. Stel je voor dat we met elkaar armoede in ons land weten te doorbreken. Dan geven we zo’n 830.000 mensen die in armoede leven weer kans op een menswaardig bestaan. Daarom maakt Kansfonds ruimte voor een totaal andere aanpak: Gewoon geld geven. En we leren van wat dat oplevert. Jarenlang hebben organisaties ingezet op allerlei oplossingen om mensen in armoede te helpen. Kansfonds ook. Zoals sociale steun bieden en een schuldhulpmaatje inzetten. Maar het is niet genoeg – en dat zal het ook nooit zijn. Want met het belangrijkste probleem doen we niks. \nMensen in armoede ontbreekt het gewoonweg aan genoeg geld om rond te komen. Met het breekijzer ‘Gewoon geld geven’ krijgen gezinnen in armoede twee jaar lang waar het ze aan ontbreekt: geld. Zelf bepalen de gezinnen waar ze dit geld aan besteden. Omdat zij het beste weten waar het gezin behoefte aan heeft. Een oplossing die simpel en vernieuwend is en uitgaat van een positief mensbeeld. Intussen gaan we met elkaar na wat deze armoedeaanpak in de weg staat\, hoe dat is op te lossen en wat de effecten zijn. Welke rafels in het systeem worden zichtbaar? En wat leert dat ons over hoe het beter kan? Huishoudens in 3 gemeenten – Amsterdam\, Tilburg en Zaanstad – doen mee aan het onderzoek. Zij laten ons meekijken naar hoe het huidige systeem in hun leven uitpakt en wat hun kansen juist zou kunnen vergroten. Hoe overwinnen ze hun hindernissen? Waar dromen ze van? DESCRIPTION:In September 2020\, the UN General Assembly adopted resolution A/RES/74/299 “Improving global road safety”\, proclaiming the Decade of Action for Road Safety 2021-2030\, with the ambitious target of preventing at least 50% of road traffic deaths and injuries by 2030. \nWHO and the UN regional commissions\, in cooperation with other partners in the UN Road Safety Collaboration\, have developed a Global Plan for the Decade of Action\, which was released in October 2021. The Global Plan aligns with the Stockholm Declaration\, by emphasizing the importance of a holistic approach to road safety\, and calling on continued improvements in the design of roads and vehicles; enhancement of laws and law enforcement; and provision of timely\, life-saving emergency care for the injured. The Global Plan also reflects the Stockholm Declaration’s promotion of policies to promote walking\, cycling and using public transport as inherently healthy and environmentally sound modes of transport. Progress made during the previous Decade of Action for Road Safety 2011-2020 has laid the foundation for accelerated action in the years ahead. Among achievements are inclusion of road safety on the global health and development agenda\, broad dissemination of scientific guidance on what works\, strengthening of partnerships and networks\, and mobilization of resources. DESCRIPTION:Vogelgriep\, vogelpest of aviaire influenza is een ziekte die voorkomt bij vogels\, voornamelijk hoenderachtigen\, die griepachtige verschijnselen veroorzaakt\, met sufheid\, tranende ogen en opgezette kelen\, ook verkleurt de kam van de vogel. \nLet op: raak dode vogels niet aan. \nSommige vogels sterven direct na de eerste besmetting. De incubatietijd bedraagt drie dagen tot twee weken. De ziekte is dodelijk voor kippen\, kalkoenen\, ganzen\, roofvogels en eenden. Het risico dat mensen in Europa met vogelgriep besmet raken is zeer klein. De veroorzaker van de ziekte is een variant van het influenzavirus: het influenza A-virus. Dit virus is zeer variabel\, zodat telkens nieuwe varianten ontstaan. Virussen vermenigvuldigen in een gastheercel. In één op de 10.000 gevallen kan door kleine foutjes in het vermenigvuldigingsproces (mutaties) een virus ontstaan dat anders\, en mogelijk gevaarlijker\, is dan het oorspronkelijke virus. Dit mutatieproces bij virussen heet antigene drift. Bij influenza A-virussen komt ook reassortment voor waarbij verschillende virussen genetisch materiaal met elkaar uitwisselen\, genaamd antigene shift. Een laagpathogeen aviair influenzavirus kan muteren tot een hoogpathogeen virus dat een zeer besmettelijke\, dodelijke variant voor de meeste vogelsoorten vormt. \nDe vogelpest heeft overigens niets te maken met de pest die in de middeleeuwen in Europa voorkwam. Ook zoogdieren\, waaronder mensen\, en roofdieren met name vossen\, bunzings en steenmarters kunnen door het vogelgriepvirus worden besmet. Er zijn gevallen bekend in de Verenigde Staten van één paard en een aantal mensen. De ziekteverschijnselen waren daarbij vrij mild. In Hongkong trad een ernstiger besmetting op. In 1997 overleden zes slachtoffers aan besmetting met de H5-variant. Ook kan het virus bij mensen een oogontsteking (conjunctivitis) veroorzaken\, die overgedragen kan worden van mens op mens. Tijdens de vogelgriepuitbraak in 2003 in Nederland bleek dat ook bij varkens de aanwezigheid van antistoffen tegen het vogelgriepvirus kan worden aangetoond. Dit bleek het geval te zijn op gemengde boerenbedrijven\, met zowel varkens als kippen. Er waren geen aanwijzingen dat varkens het vogelgriepvirus verder verspreiden. \nSinds 26 oktober 2021 gelden in Nederland landelijke maatregelen tegen vogelgriep\, ook vogelpest of aviaire influenza genoemd. In oktober 2020 werd in Nederland bij wilde vogels het zeer besmettelijke type H5N8 vastgesteld. Op 23 oktober 2020 kwam er weer een ophokplicht voor bedrijven met commercieel gehouden gevogelte. Eendenhouderijen kregen ook te maken met hygiënevoorschriften voor stalstrooisel. Op 29 oktober 2020 volgde een afschermplicht voor vogels in dierentuinen\, kinderboerderijen en bij hobbydierhouders. Op 19 juni 2021 werd de ophok- en afschermplicht in 5 van de 20 landelijke regio’s ingetrokken. Op 26 oktober 2021 echter werd de afscherm- en ophokplicht opnieuw in heel Nederland van kracht. Alle dierentuinen\, kinderboerderijen en eigenaren van hobbyvogels moeten hun pluimvee en watervogels weer afschermen. Bij commerciële pluimveebedrijven zijn er extra hygiënemaatregelen voor personeel en bezoek verplicht. In december 2021 meldde het Duitse Friedrich-Loeffler-Instituut (FLI) dat Europa te maken heeft met de zwaarste uitbraak van vogelgriep ooit. In de periode oktober 2021 – oktober 2022 werden in Nederland 4\,9 miljoen kippen\, kalkoenen en eenden geruimd. In de periode tot en met februari 2023 was dat aantal gestegen tot 6\,6 miljoen vogels. Na een opschorting werd op 16 oktober 2025 opnieuw een landelijke ophok- en afschermplicht ingevoerd vanwege een uitbraak in Drente.\n \nOp 16 februari 2004 werd in Bangkok (Thailand) bekendgemaakt\, dat een luipaard aan het H5N1-virus was bezweken en dat een tijger aan het herstellen was van een infectie met het virus. In oktober 2023 werd een dode ijsbeer ontdekt nabij Utqiaġvik\, die bij nader onderzoek aan vogelgriep bleek te zijn gestorven. In maart 2024 werden er vogelgriep infecties waargenomen bij melkkoeien in Texas\, New Mexico en Kansas. De zieke koeien\, meestal oudere\, begonnen minder te eten en melk te geven. Maar zij stierven niet aan de ziekte en leken het in eerste instantie ook niet aan elkaar over te dragen. Omdat steeds meer kuddes in meerdere staten besmet raakte\, lijkt het er inmiddels op dat er toch een mechanisme is die voor overdracht tussen koeien zorgt via een tussenstap zoals melkmachines of ratten. Ook zijn er sporen van het virus in consumenten melk gevonden met behulp van een PCR-test. Of dit actieve virusdeeltjes zijn valt niet vast te stellen. Pasteuriseren lijkt voldoende om het virus uit te schakelen want het is tot nu toe niet gelukt om levensvatbare virussen te kweken op de melk. \nOok huisdieren zoals honden en katten kunnen vogelgriep krijgen. Zij kunnen bijvoorbeeld besmet raken als ze in een besmette dode vogel bijten. Houd honden uit voorzorg aan de lijn bij plekken waar dode (water)vogels liggen. In november 2025 zijn acht kittens uit hetzelfde nest doodgegaan door vogelgriep. Het was al bekend dat het virus kan voorkomen bij zoogdieren en ook bij katten\, maar het is voor het eerst dat er in Nederland ook jonge katjes aan zijn gestorven\, schrijft demissionair minister Wiersma aan de Tweede Kamer. Het gaat om een nest jonge katten dat geboren is op een boerderij met melkgeiten. Zeven kittens waren inmiddels naar nieuwe baasjes\, toen de eigenaar het enige overgebleven jong dood aantrof. Onderzoek heeft aangetoond dat de kitten was bezweken aan de H5N1-variant van het vogelgriepvirus. Ook de andere dieren uit het nest zijn dood\, schrijft Wiersma\, waarschijnlijk ook door besmetting met het virus. Het is niet zeker hoe de dieren besmet zijn geraakt\, maar volgens de eigenaar nam de moeder van de kittens eind oktober een karkas van een wilde vogel mee naar het nest. Vermoedelijk droeg die vogel het virus bij zich\, en zijn de kittens besmet geraakt door het eten van die vogel. DESCRIPTION:The James Webb Space Telescope (JWST or “Webb” / called Henrietta Leavitt Teleskop by german scientists Harald Lesch and Josef M. Gaßner) is a space telescope to succeed the Hubble Space Telescope as NASA’s flagship astrophysics mission. \nThe JWST will provide improved infrared resolution and sensitivity over Hubble\, and will enable a broad range of investigations across the fields of astronomy and cosmology\, including observing some of the most distant events and objects in the universe\, such as the formation of the first galaxies. The primary mirror of the JWST\, the Optical Telescope Element\, is composed of eighteen 1.32 metres hexagonal mirror segments made of gold-plated beryllium which combine to create a 6.5 metres diameter mirror that is considerably larger than the Hubble’s 2.4 metres mirror. Unlike the Hubble\, which observes in the near ultraviolet\, visible\, and near infrared (0.1 to 1 μm) spectra\, the JWST will observe in a lower frequency range\, from long-wavelength visible light through mid-infrared (0.6 to 28.3 μm)\, which will allow it to observe high redshift objects that are too old and too distant for the Hubble to observe. \nThe telescope must be kept very cold in order to observe in the infrared without interference\, so it will be deployed in space near the Earth–Sun L2 Lagrangian point\, and a large sunshield made of silicon-coated and aluminium-coated Kapton will keep its mirror and instruments below 50 Kelvin (K). The JWST is being developed by NASA — with significant contributions from the European Space Agency and the Canadian Space Agency — and is named for James E. Webb\, who was the administrator of NASA from 1961 to 1968 and played an integral role in the Apollo program. The prime contractor is Northrop Grumman. Development began in 1996 for a launch that was initially planned for 2007 and a 500-million-dollar budget\, but the project has had numerous delays and cost overruns\, and underwent a major redesign in 2005. DESCRIPTION:De parlementaire enquête naar de aanpak van de coronapandemie is een parlementaire enquête van de Tweede Kamer die onderzoek zal doen naar de Nederlandse aanpak van de coronapandemie. \nOp 4 november 2021 nam de Tweede Kamer unaniem een motie van VVD-Kamerlid Aukje de Vries aan die opriep tot deze parlementaire enquête. Vanwege onenigheid over het onderzoeksvoorstel besloot de Tweede Kamervoorzitter Vera Bergkamp om de enquête uit te stellen. Na de Tweede Kamerverkiezingen van 22 november 2023 is door de Kamer unaniem besloten de enquête te starten. Op 30 januari 2024 ging de commissie van start. DESCRIPTION:Hera is a space mission in development at the European Space Agency in its Space Safety program\, its primary objective is to study the Didymos binary asteroid system that was impacted by DART and contribute to validation of the kinetic impact method to deviate a near-Earth asteroid in a colliding trajectory with Earth. \nIt will measure the size and the morphology of the crater created by and momentum transferred by an artificial projectile impacting an asteroid\, which will allow measuring the efficiency of the deflection produced by the impact. It will also analyze the expanding debris cloud caused by the impact. The spacecraft was launched on 7 October 2024 and will also study the results of DART impactor\, four years after NASA’s mission. DART impacted the asteroid Dimorphos\, the smaller of two objects forming the binary asteroid 65803 Didymos\, on 27 September 2022. Hera has a mass of 1128 kilograms and carries a payload of cameras\, an altimeter\, and a spectrometer. It will also carry two nano-satellite CubeSats\, called Milani and Juventas. Hera will fully characterise the composition and physical properties of the binary asteroid system including\, for the first time\, the sub-surface and internal structures. DESCRIPTION:Europa Clipper (previously known as Europa Multiple Flyby Mission) is a space probe in development by NASA. \nPlanned for launch aboard a Falcon Heavy in October 2024 (the 21-day launch window period opens on October 10\, 2024)\, the spacecraft is being developed to study the Galilean moon Europa through a series of flybys while in orbit around Jupiter\, it is the largest spacecraft NASA has ever developed for a planetary mission. This mission is a scheduled flight of the Planetary Science Division\, designated a Large Strategic Science Mission\, and funded under the Planetary Missions Program Office‘s Solar System Exploration program as its second flight. It is also supported by the new Ocean Worlds Exploration Program. Europa Clipper will perform follow-up studies to those made by the Galileo spacecraft during its eight years (1995 – 2003) in Jupiter orbit\, which indicated the existence of a subsurface ocean underneath Europa’s ice crust. Plans to send a spacecraft to Europa were initially conceived with projects such as Europa Orbiter and Jupiter Icy Moons Orbiter\, in which a spacecraft would be injected into orbit around Europa. However\, due to the adverse effects of radiation from Jupiter’s magnetosphere in Europa orbit\, it was decided that it would be safer to inject a spacecraft into an elliptical orbit around Jupiter and make 44 close flybys of the moon instead. The mission began as a joint investigation between the Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL) and the Applied Physics Laboratory (APL)\, and will be built with a scientific payload of nine instruments contributed by JPL\, APL\, Southwest Research Institute\, University of Texas at Austin\, Arizona State University and University of Colorado Boulder. The upcoming mission complements ESA‘s Jupiter Icy Moons Explorer launched in 2023\, which will fly-by Europa twice and Callisto multiple times before moving into orbit around Ganymede. The spacecraft will use gravity assists from Mars in February 2025 and Earth in December 2026\, before arriving at Europa in April 2030. NASA will provide live coverage of prelaunch and launch activities for Europa Clipper\, the agency’s mission to explore Jupiter’s icy moon Europa. DESCRIPTION:Om boeren en de natuur in Europa te beschermen zijn de meest gevaarlijke pesticiden verboden in de landbouw\, toch draaien er in Europa fabrieken met verboden gifstoffen op volle toeren en lidstaten blijven jaar in jaar uit meedoen aan de export naar landen waar de wetgeving minder beschermend is voor de volksgezondheid en het milieu. \nOok Nederlandse bedrijven maken zich hier schuldig aan. Bijna 15.000 ton (15.000.000 kg) aan EU-verboden pesticiden werden in 2022 vanuit Nederland verhandeld naar buiten Europa. Alsof de risico’s op ziekte van boeren en omwonenden geen probleem meer is als de containers de Europese grens over zijn. Deze dubbele morele standaard moet zo snel mogelijk stoppen. En dat is nog niet alles: resten van deze pesticiden komen via import op bananen\, rozijnen en rijst weer bij ons terug. Je begrijpt het goed: Europa staat het toe dat deze verboden giffen alsnog op ons bord belanden. Dit is een belachelijk boemerang effect! Europa beloofde hier een einde aan te maken\, maar het proces om tot een nieuwe wet te komen staat al jaren doodstil. Dit duurt veel te lang! DESCRIPTION:Chevron runs natural gas extraction and pipelines off the shore of Palestine/Israel\, making it a major partner in Israeli energy apartheid\, the military blockade on Gaza\, and the illegal exploitation of Palestinian land and resources. \nJoin Palestinian civil society and a growing international coalition calling on Chevron to end its support of genocide and apartheid in Palestine. Chevron is the largest producer of natural gas for Israel and the largest multinational corporation with a significant stake in Israel’s energy sector. It operates and partially owns the largest active Israeli gas fields\, Tamar and Leviathan\, and the smaller and undeveloped Dalit field\, all of which are located in the Eastern Mediterranean Sea\, west of Haifa. The gas from Tamar is processed in a rig that is located farther south\, off the coast of Isdud/Ashdod. In 2023\, Chevron made an estimated $1.5 billion in revenue from Tamar and Leviathan gas sales alone\, mostly from exports to Egypt and Jordan. Chevron partially owns the Mari B gas field off the coast of the Gaza Strip\, but it has been depleted and inactive since 2013. Chevron also operates and partially owns the East Mediterranean Gas (EMG) pipeline\, which runs from Israel to Egypt off the coast of the Gaza Strip. As the operator of these gas fields and the pipeline\, Chevron is in charge of all operations of these projects\, including planning\, construction\, production\, and supply. The Caspian Pipeline Consortium in Russia\, which supplies crude oil to Israel\, and the main Kazakh companies that supply this oil\, are also partially owned by Chevron. Between 2021 and December 2024\, Chevron spent nearly $28.5 million on lobbying the U.S. government\, including on energy issues related to Israel. SUMMARY:Save the Observatory Science Centre Herstmonceux - petition
DESCRIPTION:The Observatory Science Centre is an educational charity which has called the Grade II listed\, former home of the Royal Greenwich Observatory at Herstmonceux\, East Sussex\, home for the last 30 years. \nThe Canadian landlords\, Queen’s University\, who also own Herstmonceux Castle\, are not renewing the Science Centre’s lease\, so come the end of the 2026 season the Science Centre will be homeless. Over the years the science centre have worked tirelessly to fund and restore the site and the telescopes back to their former glory. The centre is a major venue for exhibitions\, lectures and educational programmes. The renovated telescopes provide a unique setting for the general public\, schools\, colleges\, and brownie and scout groups to learn about science\, space and the world around them. Whilst the Science Centre is in search for a new site to continue operations beyond 2026\, they should not have to leave the Observatory site at all and the historic site should be preserved for future generations as a great educational tool of significant historical importance. Door samen te werken met BlackRock\, versterken pensioenfondsen de macht van een van de grootste klimaatvervuilers ter wereld. Hiermee riskeren ze bovendien ons pensioengeld: een wereld die geteisterd wordt door klimaatrampen\, zal ook de economie raken. Samen met pensioendeelnemers vergroot Fossielvrij NL de druk op Nederlandse pensioenfondsen om te breken met BlackRock.
