Geef van elke vlindersoort het hoogste aantal door in het telformulier dat je tegelijk hebt gezien. Voorbeeld: je ziet eerst 3 dagpauwogen tegelijk. Tien minuten later zijn er weer 2 dagpauwogen. Dan geef je door: 3 dagpauwogen. Zie je later op de dag of één van de andere teldagen weer vlinders? Dan kun je die doorgeven via een nieuwe telling. Heb je een vlinder gezien die niet in de tellijst staat? Dat kan; we tellen alleen de meest voorkomende soorten tuinvlinders. Je hoeft deze waarneming dan niet in te vullen. Belangrijk: als je geen vlinders ziet is het ook belangrijk om dit door te geven. DESCRIPTION:World Population Day is an annual event\, observed on July 11 every year\, which seeks to raise awareness of global population issues. \nThe event was established by the Governing Council of the United Nations Development Programme in 1989. It was inspired by the public interest in Five Billion Day on July 11\, 1987\, the approximate date on which the world’s population reached five billion people. World Population Day aims to increase people’s awareness on various population issues such as the importance of family planning\, gender equality\, poverty\, maternal health and human rights. The day was suggested by Dr. K.C.Zachariah in which population reached five billion when he worked as Sr Demographer at World Bank. In November 2020\, UNFPA\, together with the governments of Kenya and Denmark\, convened a high-level conference in Nairobi to accelerate efforts to achieve these unmet goals. On World Population Day\, advocates from around the world call on leaders\, policymakers\, grassroots organizers\, institutions and others to help make reproductive health and rights a reality for all. \nWhile press interest and general awareness in the global population surges at the increments of whole billions of people\, the world population increases by 100 million approximately every 14 months. It took hundreds of thousands of years for the world population to grow to 1 billion – then in just another 200 years or so\, it grew sevenfold. In 2011\, the global population reached the 7 billion mark\, it stands at almost 7.9 billion in 2021\, and it’s expected to grow to around 8.5 billion in 2030\, 9.7 billion in 2050\, and 10.9 billion in 2100. This dramatic growth has been driven largely by increasing numbers of people surviving to reproductive age\, and has been accompanied by major changes in fertility rates\, increasing urbanization and accelerating migration. These trends will have far-reaching implications for generations to come. \nThe recent past has seen enormous changes in fertility rates and life expectancy. In the early 1970s\, women had on average 4.5 children each; by 2015\, total fertility for the world had fallen to below 2.5 children per woman. Meanwhile\, average global lifespans have risen\, from 64.6 years in the early 1990s to  72.6 years in 2019. In addition\, the world is seeing high levels of urbanization and accelerating migration. 2007 was the first year in which more people lived in urban areas than in rural areas\, and by 2050 about 66 per cent of the world population will be living in cities. These megatrends have far-reaching implications. They affect economic development\, employment\, income distribution\, poverty and social protections. They also affect efforts to ensure universal access to health care\, education\, housing\, sanitation\, water\, food and energy. DESCRIPTION:De Val van Srebrenica (ook bekend als het Bloedbad van Srebrenica) is de inname van de Bosnische stad Srebrenica op 11 juli 1995 en de daaropvolgende deportatie en genocide van meer dan 8.000 moslimjongens en -mannen door Bosnisch-Servische troepen\, tot juli 2012 zijn 6.838 slachtoffers geïdentificeerd. \nHet exacte aantal slachtoffers is nooit vast komen te staan. Het NIOD ging in 2002 nog van ongeveer 8.000 doden uit\, maar het Bosnische herdenkingscentrum heeft tot aan 2009\, 8.373 slachtoffers geteld. Na het uiteenvallen van Joegoslavië en de burgeroorlog die daarop volgde werd de stad\, evenals Tuzla\, Sarajevo\, Goražde en Žepa\, door de Verenigde Naties tot veilige enclave verklaard\, binnen een door Bosnische Serviërs beheerst gebied. De aanwezigheid van een internationale vredesmacht onder de vlag van de Verenigde Naties zag toe op de handhaving van Resolutie 819 Veiligheidsraad Verenigde Naties waarbij beide groepen de veiligheid van het VN-personeel moesten garanderen. In 1993 werd Srebrenica door Servische eenheden dusdanig bedreigd dat de stad door de Verenigde Naties werd uitgeroepen tot het eerste “veilig gebied” in het Bosnische conflict. Op 11 juli 1995\, toen ruim 400 Nederlandse UNPROFOR-militairen (achtereenvolgens de bataljons Dutchbat I\, II\,III en IV) in Tuzla en Srebrenica hun humanitaire werk deden\, drongen Bosnisch-Servische troepen onder bevel van generaal Ratko Mladić met hulp van tanks de stad binnen en deporteerden en vermoordden een groot deel van de daar aanwezige moslimmannen en -jongens. Wij zijn met miljoenen mensen. Samen kunnen we dit moment gebruiken om te laten zien dat we aan haar kant staan en willen dat de meest prestigieuze prijs ter wereld naar haar en de artsen die actief zijn in Gaza gaat. Sluit je nu aan en deel dit met iedereen die je kent. Francesca Albanese is een van de krachtigste stemmen die oproept tot actie tegen mensenrechtenschendingen. Ze aarzelt niet om politici en bedrijven die profiteren van de genocide ter verantwoording te roepen\, zelfs als ze daardoor in het vizier van Israël en de VS komt. De initiatiefnemers zetten stappen in het terugdringen van de stikstofuitstoot waardoor ruimte ontstaat voor vergunningsverlening én natuurherstel. Het plan voegt belangrijke elementen toe aan het startpakket van het kabinet. Alle sectoren leveren een substantiële bijdrage aan de stikstofdaling\, waarbij de land- en tuinbouw zich hard maakt voor een doelstelling van 42-46% emissiereductie in 2035. De initiatiefnemers verbinden zich aan afrekenbare stikstofreductiedoelen op sector- en bedrijfsniveau. Door doelen te stellen worden ondernemers die al veel hebben geïnvesteerd in de vermindering van stikstofuitstoot beloond. Agrarische ondernemers krijgen de tijd\, de middelen en de ruimte om hieraan te voldoen\, met een afrekenbaar tussendoel in 2030. Yet it also showcases some inspiring examples of resilience\, with countries and communities stepping up in the face of adversity to protect the gains made and drive the HIV response forward. Some 25 of the 60 low and middle-income countries included in the report have indicated increases in domestic budgets for their HIV responses in 2026. The estimated collective rise among the 25 countries amounts to 8% over current levels\, translating to approximately USD 180 million in additional domestic resources. DESCRIPTION:In de bovenste laag van de Atlantische Oceaan zweven naar schatting 27 miljoen ton aan nanoplastics –  minuscule deeltjes van minder dan 1 micrometer\, blijkt uit onderzoek in Nature. \n\nDat de oceanen vervuild zijn met plastic\, is al lang geen nieuws meer. Elke dag belandt er meer dan een miljoen kilogram plastic plastic in het water\, en steeds meer onderzoeken waarschuwen voor de gevolgen voor mens en milieu. Maar de meeste aandacht ging naar zichtbare stukken plastic. Over nanoplastics\, minuscule stukjes die minder dan een vijftigste van een menselijk haar meten\, is veel minder geweten. Nu blijkt uit het Nederlandse onderzoek dat die vervuiling veel groter is dan werd gedacht. Voor dit onderzoek nam een onderzoeksschip op twaalf locaties watermonsters waar alles dat groter dan één micrometer was werd uitgefilterd. Vervolgens werd het overblijvende materiaal gedroogd en geanalyseerd. Door de resultaten van verschillende locaties te extrapoleren naar de Noord-Atlantische Oceaan\, komen de onderzoekers tot de immense hoeveelheid van 27 miljoen ton nanoplastics\, daarmee is wel een belangrijk antwoord gevonden op de paradox van het missende plastic. Die paradox slaat op het verschil tussen de hoeveelheid geproduceerd plastic en de hoeveelheid afval. DESCRIPTION:Op initiatief van de Verenigde Naties wordt sinds 2001 op 9 juli de Dag voor de Vernietiging van Vuurwapens (Gun Destruction Day) gehouden\, deze dag is in het leven geroepen om ons bewust te maken van de dreiging en gevaren die slecht beveiligde en (illegale) handvuurwapens vormen voor onze dagelijkse veiligheid. \nTer gelegenheid van de Gun Destruction Day worden in verschillende landen op en rond 9 juli verouderde en in beslag genomen wapens vernietigd. Hoewel er elk jaar gemiddeld 800.000 vuurwapens worden vernietigd\, blijft het probleem van illegale vuurwapens enorm. Voor elk wapen dat wordt vernietigd\, worden er nog eens 10 vervaardigd en elke dag worden 2.000 mensen gedood door vuurwapens. Het Wapenhandelsverdrag / Arms Trade Treaty (ATT) werd in 2013 ondertekend door 130 landen en op 24 december 2014 door de Verenigde Naties aangenomen waardoor het wereldwijde juridisch bindend ATT in werking trad. De huidige stand van zaken: 104 landen hebben het ATT geratificeerd of zijn toegetreden. Tot deze landen behoren ook het Verenigd Koninkrijk\, Frankrijk\, Duitsland\, Italië en Spanje. Saillant detail: deze vijf staan in de top 10 van grootste wapenproducenten. Nog eens 32 landen hebben het verdrag ondertekend maar niet geratificeerd. Het doel van het ATT is om de export\, import\, tussenhandel en doorvoer van conventionele (niet nucleaire) wapens beter te controleren en reguleren. De initiatiefnemers\, waaronder Oxfam en Amnesty International hopen met het ATT een instrument in handen te hebben dat een einde maakt aan de meest extreme vormen van wapenexport. Volgens schattingen is de VS nu goed voor 34% van alle wereldwijde wapenverkopen\, een stijging van 30% ten opzichte van vijf jaar geleden. En vergis je niet de wapenexport van de VS ligt 58% hoger dan die van Rusland\, de op één na grootste exporteur van de wereld. De rest van de top 5 wordt gevormd door Frankrijk\, Duitsland en China. DESCRIPTION:Cow Appreciation Day occurs on the second Tuesday of July every year\, to raise awareness of what cows do for us humans\, as they are an important part of society and are often mistreated. \nWe need to learn to appreciate the animal behind the meat\, as it has been reported that many cows and farm animals are treated inhumanely on factory farms\, and often have 500 cattle or more. There are some benefits to eating meat\, as they have high nutritional value\, are rich in protein\, and can be good for your diet if consumed in small amounts\, but there are also many health risks. Diets with red meat and high-fat dairy foods can be associated with diabetes and cardiovascular disease which can lead to early death\, and diets high in fruit and veg can reduce these risks. As mentioned above\, there are now many meat alternative available that many people are turning to- but what are the health benefits? The benefits to Plant-based meat substitutes include: conserving the environment; as growing plants takes up less space and less water\, and eating plant-based reduces animal suffering as you will be cutting out meat. Plant-based meat alternatives are also better for your overall health due to you having lower cholesterol\, lower blood sugar\, and you are less likely to be obese. Impact of Meat on Sustainability and the Environment of meat production and consumption\, and aside from health risks\, it is so damaging to the environment: \n\nSustainability and climate change: Animal livestock uses a disproportionately large amount of land (around 77%) which is unsustainable. It is also estimated that the meat and dairy industry accounts for approximately 15% of all global greenhouse gas emissions.\nGreenhouse gas emissions: Meat consumption releases an array of greenhouse gases and this causes global warming which ultimately contributes to climate change. Livestock farming also causes emissions of greenhouse gases through destroying forests and ecosystems\, use of fertiliser\, and decaying manure.\nDeforestation: Beef and soy production are related to the loss of forests in South America\, including areas of Brazil\, Argentina\, and the Amazon Rainforest. Deforested areas can be cleared using fire\, and this causes huge amounts of carbon dioxide to be released.\nBiodiversity loss: Many habitats and species are becoming extinct due to natural environments being destroyed to raise animals for meat. Around half of the planet’s habitable land is used for agriculture- with a vast majority of this used to graze livestock.\n\nTo celebrate this\, some folks like to: \n\nWear cow-printed or cow-inspired outfits (think cowboy hats and cowbell necklaces)\nHost cow-themed parties with moo-moo decorations and cow-shaped snacks\nVisit local farms or petting zoos to get up close and personal with those adorable cows\nShare cow-related memes and jokes on social media (because\, let’s face it\, cow puns are the best)\nOffer discounts or freebies at cow-friendly businesses\n\nAnd\, of course\, who could forget the most important tradition of all – FREE COW-THEMED FOOD. Many restaurants and cafes offer special deals and menu items on Cow Appreciation Day\, so be sure to keep an eye out for those moo-velous offers. Interestingly\, some people also use this day to raise awareness about cow welfare and sustainable farming practices. En dat doet zijn werk goed\, blijkt uit een evaluatie van Erasmus MC in opdracht van het RIVM. Het risico om te overlijden aan darmkanker daalde met 45 procent bij degenen die deelnamen aan het bevolkingsonderzoek naar darmkanker. Dat blijkt uit een evaluatie van het bevolkingsonderzoek door het Erasmus MC in opdracht van het RIVM. Erasmus analyseerde de uitkomsten van de screening vanaf de start van het bevolkingsonderzoek in 2014 tot nu. In Nederland ontvangen mensen van 55 tot en met 75 jaar elke twee jaar een oproep voor het bevolkingsonderzoek darmkanker. Een ontlastingstest spoort bloed op dat kan duiden op darmkanker of een voorstadium daarvan. Zo kan darmkanker vroeg ontdekt of zelfs voorkomen worden. Dit vergroot de kans op een succesvolle behandeling. Toch is het aantal deelnemers de afgelopen jaren gedaald. In 2023 deed slechts 67\,2 procent van de genodigden mee aan de ontlastingstest. Vooral mannen maken er minder gebruik van\, terwijl uit de cijfers blijkt dat er bij hen vaker darmkanker wordt gevonden. DESCRIPTION:In heel Nederland klinkt op elke eerste maandag van de maand om 12:00 het luchtalarm van het waarschuwingsstelsel of waarschuwings- en alarmeringssysteem (WAS)\, behalve op feestdagen\, Nationale Dodenherdenking of bij andere speciale gebeurtenissen. \nDe test duurt 1 minuut en 26 seconden. In juni en december wordt tevens een NL-Alert testbericht verstuurd naar mobiele (GSM) telefoons. Het WAS is een netwerk van 4278 sirenes in Nederland die draadloos en onafhankelijk van elkaar aangezet kunnen worden vanuit de alarmcentrale van de regionale brandweer. De sirenes worden gebruikt om te waarschuwen via een luchtalarm voor (dreigend) gevaar\, met name indien er gevaarlijke stoffen in de lucht aanwezig (kunnen) zijn. Het systeem is ontwikkeld door Siemens\, en gebruikt elektronische sirenes op basis van de Federal Signal Modulator 2008 en 1004. Het waarschuwingsstelsel is eigendom van het Ministerie van Justitie en Veiligheid\, en is op 3 juni 1998 in gebruik genomen. De bevolking is van tevoren geïnstrueerd om in het geval dat de sirene afgaat naar binnen te gaan\, ramen en deuren te sluiten en radio of televisie aan te zetten. Op de aangewezen calamiteitenzenders kan de overheid verdere aanwijzingen geven\, bijvoorbeeld dat een gebied geëvacueerd zal worden. \nExtinction Rebellion maakt er met de actie Luchtalarm – dit is een noodgeval! telkens met kleurrijke vlaggen en banners een mooi maar bloedserieus moment van. Met deze actie wil Extinction Rebellion NL aandacht vragen voor de klimaatcrisis en de biodiversiteitscrisis en duidelijk maken dat het al vijf over twaalf is. Sluit je voor een paar minuten aan bij deze actie en laat zien dat je ook vindt dat de overheid in actie moet komen om een leefbare toekomst voor ons en onze kinderen te waarborgen. Kom langs en doe mee! Iedereen is welkom. Neem borden mee\, we delen tijdens de actie ook patches uit waarmee we onze boodschap kunnen uitdragen. \n‘Het Ballenalarm‘ is een ludieke actie waarmee de Stichting Zaadbalkanker vraagt om extra aandacht voor zaadbalkanker\, ook wel teelbalkanker genoemd. Het idee is dat mannen op de eerste maandag van de maand om 12:00 – als de maandelijkse alarmsirenes loeien – hun teelballen checken\, en dit elke maand opnieuw. DESCRIPTION:The Treaty on the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons (TPNW)\, or the Nuclear Weapon Ban Treaty\, is the first legally binding international agreement to comprehensively prohibit nuclear weapons with the ultimate goal being their total elimination. \nIt was adopted on 7 July 2017\, opened for signature on 20 September 2017\, and entered into force on 22 January 2021. For those nations that are party to it\, the treaty prohibits the development\, testing\, production\, stockpiling\, stationing\, transfer\, use and threat of use of nuclear weapons\, as well as assistance and encouragement to the prohibited activities. For nuclear armed states joining the treaty\, it provides for a time-bound framework for negotiations leading to the verified and irreversible elimination of its nuclear weapons programme. A mandate adopted by the United Nations General Assembly on 23 December 2016 scheduled two sessions for negotiations: 27 to 31 March and 15 June to 7 July\, 2017. The treaty passed on schedule on 7 July with 122 in favour\, 1 against (Netherlands)\, and 1 official abstention (Singapore). De slachterijen discrimineren volgens de actievoerders dieren alleen omdat het dieren zijn en denken dat ze kunnen doden om geld te verdienen. Dat is niet goed en moet gestopt worden. DESCRIPTION:Op 25 juni 2025 werd de vreedzame A12-blokkade van Extinction Rebellion (XR) met geweld tegengehouden\, daarom organiseert XR een mars in solidariteit met slachtoffers van politiegeweld tijdens vreedzame demonstraties. \nOp 25 juni 2025 wilde XR de A12 blokkeren ter hoogte van de Utrechtsebaan. Die demonstratie was volledig vreedzaam\, maar werd met veel geweld tegengehouden en neergeslagen door politie. Door het gewelddadige optreden van de politie zijn van twee rebellen hun arm gebroken\, en van één rebel diens hand. Vele anderen kregen stokslagen\, neusklemmen\, en polsklemmen. Ook als ze zich niet verzetten en geen gevaar vormden of nog voordat ze de A12 überhaupt betreden hadden. Zondag 6 juli om 13:00 organiseert XR daarom een protestmars in solidariteit met slachtoffers van politiegeweld. SUMMARY:47th session of the World Heritage Committee 2025
DESCRIPTION:The World Heritage Committee meets once a year for an ordinary session to discuss the management of existing World Heritage Sites\, and accept nominations by countries. \nExtraordinary meetings can be convened at the request of two-thirds of the state members. Meetings are held within the territory of state members of the World Heritage Committee at their invitation. Rotation between regions and cultures is a consideration for selection and the location for the next session is chosen by the committee at the end of each session. \nThe World Heritage Committee is a committee of the United Nations Educational\, Scientific and Cultural Organization that selects the sites to be listed as UNESCO World Heritage Sites\, including the World Heritage List and the List of World Heritage in Danger\, defines the use of the World Heritage Fund and allocates financial assistance upon requests from States Parties. It comprises representatives from 21 state parties that are elected by the General Assembly of States Parties for a four-year term. These parties vote on decisions and proposals related to the World Heritage Convention and World Heritage List. According to the World Heritage Convention\, a committee member’s term of office is six years. However many States Parties choose to voluntarily limit their term to four years\, in order to give other States Parties an opportunity to serve. All members elected at the 15th General Assembly (2005) voluntarily chose to reduce their term of office from six to four years. Deliberations of the World Heritage Committee are aided by three advisory bodies\, the IUCN\, ICOMOS and ICCROM. \nLinks:\n46th session of the World Heritage Committee

SUMMARY:2025 BRICS Summit
DESCRIPTION:The 2025 BRICS summit was the seventeenth annual BRICS summit\, held in Rio de Janeiro\, Brazil. \nBRICS is an intergovernmental organization comprising ten countries Brazil\, Russia\, India\, China\, South Africa\, Egypt\, Ethiopia\, Indonesia\, Iran and the United Arab Emirates. The BRICS cooperation mechanism was launched in 2006\, initially comprising Brazil\, Russia\, India\, and China; South Africa joined in 2011. This is the first BRICS summit to feature Indonesia after being admitted on 8 January 2025. Between 28 and 29 April 2025\, the foreign ministers of BRICS member states met in Rio de Janeiro\, Brazil\, ahead of the leaders’ summit. Although the ministers failed to release a joint communique\, they voiced concern over the rise of protectionist trade practices under the Trump administration in the United States. Chinese leader Xi Jinping did not attend the summit for the first time since succeeding Hu Jintao as CCP General Secretary in 2012. Russian President Vladimir Putin attended the meeting only virtually due to an arrest warrant from the International Criminal Court for war crimes during the Russian invasion of Ukraine. As of July 2025\, the BRICS grouping accounts for over 45% of global GDP (nominal) and over 50% at PPP\, represents more than half of the world’s population\, and controls significant shares of global energy reserves\, industrial capacity\, and critical mineral resources. The idea of a BRICS-like group can be traced back to Russian foreign minister Yevgeny Primakov and to the two forums RIC (Russia\, India\, China) and IBSA (India\, Brazil\, South Africa). BRIC was originally a term coined by British economist Jim O’Neill and later championed by his employer Goldman Sachs in 2001 to designate the group of emerging markets. \nThe first summit in 2009 featured the founding countries of Brazil\, Russia\, India\, and China\, where they adopted the acronym BRIC and formed an informal diplomatic club where their governments could meet annually at formal summits and coordinate multilateral policies. In April 2010\, South Africa attended the 2nd BRIC summit as a guest. In September 2010 they joined the organization which was then renamed BRICS\, and attended the 3rd BRICS summit in 2011 as a full member. Iran\, Egypt\, Ethiopia\, and the United Arab Emirates attended their first summit as member states in 2024 in Russia. Indonesia officially joined as a member state in early 2025\, becoming the first Southeast Asian member. The acronym BRICS+ (in its expanded form BRICS Plus) has been informally used to reflect new membership since 2024. Some in the West consider BRICS institutions an alternative to institutions such as those led by nations of the G7 bloc\, which are among the world’s leading economies. Others describe the grouping as an incoherent joining of countries around increasing anti-Western and anti-American objectives. Together BRICS has implemented competing initiatives such as the New Development Bank\, the BRICS Contingent Reserve Arrangement\, BRICS PAY\, the BRICS Joint Statistical Publication and the BRICS basket reserve currency. In its first 15 years BRICS has established almost 60 intra-group institutions\, and think tanks to dialogues\, covering agenda in 34 subjects. The original five members and Indonesia are also part of the G20.
