DESCRIPTION:De Kermisfestival Tilburg / Tilburgse Kermis is de grootste kermis in de Benelux en wordt gehouden in de Noord-Brabantse plaats Tilburg. \nEr staan jaarlijks tussen de 230 en 240 attracties uit binnen- en buitenland\, in een 4\,5 kilometer lang lint door het centrum van de stad. De kermis trekt jaarlijks meer dan een miljoen bezoekers en is daarmee een van de best bezochte evenementen van Nederland. Hoewel de kermis met de tijd is meegegaan en dus voor het merendeel uit moderne attracties bestaat is er ook plaats ingeruimd voor een nostalgische kermis. De Tilburgse kermis duurt tien dagen: hij eindigt op de laatste zondag van juli en start dus negen dagen eerder op vrijdag. Ieder jaar treden op de themadagen bekende artiesten uit binnen- en buitenland op. Op de eerste zondag is het tussen 11:00 en 14:00 Blauwe zondag. Dit is een speciale ‘prikkelarme’ periode: geluiden en muziek van attracties worden dan gedempt. Op maandag is het Roze Maandag\, een evenement voor homo- en biseksuelen\, lesbiennes en transgenders (LHBT‘ers)\, na een eerste nichtenavond in 1990 werd dit al snel het drukstbezochte onderdeel van de Tilburgse Kermis. Dit is een wetenschappelijk kader ontwikkeld door onderzoekers van de Radboud Universiteit. Zij onderzochten meer dan 400 ‘autocratische acties’ in landen waar de democratie afkalfde. De onderzoekers onderscheiden zeven strategieën waarmee democratisch gekozen leiders\, eenmaal aan de macht\, de democratie van binnenuit uithollen: ontwijking\, manipulatie\, infiltratie\, duplicatie\, restrictie\, verbod en delegitimering. Bij elke strategie volgt de aspirant-autocraat de letter van de wet\, maar niet de geest ervan. Als ambtenaren zijn zij doordrongen van het belang van internationaal recht. Ze legden een eed af op de Grondwet\, inclusief artikel 90 waarin staat dat de regering de internationale rechtsorde bevordert. Het is aan de politiek om het beleid uiteen te zetten\, dat klopt. Maar ook de politiek heeft zich te houden aan onze Grondwet en aan internationaal verdragsrechtelijke verplichtingen. Het is aan ambtenaren om de politiek erop te wijzen wanneer beleid het internationaal recht (mogelijk) schaadt. En die taak – die plicht – nemen zij zeer serieus. Zij verwachten van onze regering dat zij zich onvermoeibaar in gaat zetten voor consistente naleving van het internationaal recht. Concreet stellen zij vier eisen aan de Nederlandse regering en verwachten wij van de regering dat alle diplomatieke middelen worden aangewend om onderstaande te bewerkstelligen: \n1. Maximale inzet op een onmiddellijk en permanent staakt-het-vuren en volledige humanitaire toegang tot Gaza. \n2. ⁠Een eind aan alle vormen van steun voor én rechtvaardiging van Israëls huidige militaire optreden in Gaza en erkenning van het internationale humanitaire en oorlogsrecht; \n3. ⁠De onmiddellijke naleving van uitspraken van het Internationaal Gerechtshof (ICJ). \n4. Artificial intelligence\, the green transition and growing social complexity are transforming how we learn\, work and participate in society. To thrive in this changing landscape\, young people need more than technical skills alone. They need a balanced set of competencies that combines technical\, digital\, AI\, green\, social-emotional and civic skills with the human qualities that technology cannot replace. Under the theme “Skills for a shared future”\,  this year’s World Youth Skills Day activities will spotlight the urgent need for innovative youth skills programmes—initiatives that empower young people not only to adapt\, but to lead with empathy\, bridge cultural divides\, build resilience\, and actively shape a more sustainable and inclusive tomorrow. Youth unemployment remains a major economic and social challenge worldwide. According to the ILO’s Global Employment Trends for Youth 2024\, the global youth unemployment rate fell to 13% in 2023 – a 15-year low and below the pre-pandemic level of 13.8%. However\, recovery has been uneven: in the Arab States\, East Asia\, and South-East Asia\, rates were higher in 2023 than in 2019. Meanwhile\, one in five young people globally – and over a quarter of young women – were NEET (not in employment\, education\, or training)\, with young women’s NEET rate (28.1%) more than double that of young men (13.1%). Even for those who work\, decent jobs remain scarce. Over half of young workers are in informal employment\, and in low-income countries\, three in four hold only self-employment or temporary jobs. Investment in green and blue sectors could create 8.4 million youth jobs by 2030\, but these must come with decent working conditions – including fundamental rights like equal pay\, collective bargaining\, and protection from harassment. \nEducation and training are central to the achievement of the 2030 Agenda. The vision of the Incheon Declaration: Education 2030 is fully captured by Sustainable Development Goal 4 “Ensure inclusive and equitable quality education and promote lifelong learning opportunities for all”. Education 2030 devotes considerable attention to technical and vocational skills development\, specifically regarding access to affordable quality Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET); the acquisition of technical and vocational skills for employment\, decent work and entrepreneurship; the elimination of gender disparity and ensuring access for the vulnerable. In this context\, TVET is expected to address the multiple demands of an economic\, social and environmental nature by helping youth and adults develop the skills they need for employment\, decent work and entrepreneurship\, promoting equitable\, inclusive and sustainable economic growth\, and supporting transitions to green economies and environmental sustainability. TVET can equip youth with the skills required to access the world of work\, including skills for self-employment. TVET can also improve responsiveness to changing skill-demands by companies and communities\, increase productivity and increase wage levels. TVET can reduce access barriers to the world of work\, for example through work-based learning\, and ensuring that skills gained are recognised and certified. DESCRIPTION:World Orca Day is a celebration of the species orca (Orcinus orca)\, or killer whale\, is a toothed whale and the largest member of the oceanic dolphin family. \nThe only extant species in the genus Orcinus\, it is recognizable by its distinct pigmentation; being mostly black on top\, white on the bottom and having recognizable white eye patches. A cosmopolitan species\, it inhabits a wide range of marine environments\, from Arctic to Antarctic regions to tropical seas\, but is more commonly documented in temperate or cooler coastal waters. Scientists have proposed dividing the global population into races\, subspecies\, or possibly even species. Orcas are apex predators with a diverse diet. Individual populations often specialize in particular types of prey\, including bony fish\, sharks\, rays\, and marine mammals such as seals\, dolphins\, and whales. They are highly social\, with some populations forming stable matrilineal family groups (pods). Their sophisticated hunting techniques and vocal behaviors\, often unique to specific groups and passed down from generation to generation\, are considered to be manifestations of animal culture. The most studied populations are off the west coast of North America\, which include fish-eating “residents”\, mammal-eating “transients”\, and offshores. The International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) lists the orca’s conservation status as data deficient as multiple orca types may represent distinct species. Some local populations are threatened or endangered due to prey depletion\, habitat loss\, pollution (by PCBs)\, captures for marine parks\, and conflicts with fisheries. In late 2005\, the southern resident orcas were added to the U.S. Endangered Species list. Orcas have been revered by indigenous peoples from regions including the Pacific Northwest\, Australia and Peru\, while Western cultures have historically feared them. They have been taken by whalers when stocks of larger species have declined. The orca’s image took a positive turn in the 1960s\, due to greater public and scientific awareness and their display in captivity. Since then\, orcas have been trained to perform in marine parks\, a practice that has been criticized as unethical. Meer dan 100 miljoen haaien leggen elk jaar het loodje en diverse soorten dreigen uit te sterven. De grootste bedreiging voor de haaien is zoals gewoonlijk de mens. Onze motorboten\, visnetten en onze angst voor haaien vormen bedreigingen voor het bestaan van de haai. Maar net als andere toppredators op het land spelen haaien een essentiële rol bij het gezond en productief houden van de zeeën. De grootste bedreiging is geld. Simpelweg omdat dode haaien nu eenmaal veel geld opleveren. Alleen al in de haaienvinnensoep verdwijnen miljoenen haaien. Ze worden ook gedood voor hun tanden (souvenir)\, kraakbeen (medicijn) en lever (vitamine A). Sinds de film Jaws vinden veel mensen het stoer om een haai te vangen. Maar uiteindelijk verdwijnen de meeste haaien als “bijvangst” in de visnetten. In 2005\, “The Sweet Adelines International” have founded this cheery holiday on their 60th anniversary. Barbershop music is a style of a cappella close harmony and vocal harmony\, or unaccompanied vocal music\, characterized by consonant four-part chords for every melody note in a primarily homorhythmic texture. Each of the four parts has its own role: generally\, the lead sings the melody\, the tenor harmonizes above the melody\, the bass sings the lowest harmonizing notes\, and the baritone completes the chord\, usually below the lead. The melody is not usually sung by the tenor or baritone\, except for an infrequent note or two to avoid awkward voice leading\, in tags or codas\, or when some appropriate embellishment can be created. One characteristic feature of barbershop harmony is the use of what is known as “snakes” and “swipes”. This is when a chord is altered by a change in one or more non-melodic voices. Occasional passages may be sung by fewer than four voice parts. Barbershop music is generally performed by either a barbershop quartet\, a group of four singers which sings four-part harmony\, or a barbershop chorus\, which closely resembles a choir with the notable exception of the genre of music. \nAccording to the Barbershop Harmony Society (BHS)\, “Barbershop music features songs with understandable lyrics and easily singable melodies\, whose tones clearly define a tonal center and imply major and minor chords and barbershop (dominant and secondary dominant) seventh chords that resolve primarily around the circle of fifths\, while making frequent use of other resolutions.” Slower barbershop songs\, especially ballads\, often eschew a continuous beat\, and notes are often held (or sped up) ad libitum. Aside from the bass\, the voice parts in barbershop singing do not correspond closely to their classical music counterparts; the tenor range and tessitura are similar to those of the classical countertenor (including the fact that they sing their highest notes primarily in falsetto\, as a countertenor would)\, the baritone resembles a high lyric baritone in range and a tenor in tessitura\, and the lead generally corresponds to the tenor of classical repertoire\, with some singers possessing a tessitura more similar to that of a high baritone. The social behavior of geeks and the communication between two geeks is often incomprehensible for non-geeks.
