Als vertegenwoordigers van een vrouwonvriendelijke patriarchaat … Als de verpersoonlijking van maatschappelijke genderrollen waarvan ze zelf ook het slachtoffer zijn. Jongens worden hetzelfde lot toebedeeld. Tijd dat mannen ‘in beweging komen’ en hun plaats innemen in de samenleving en met woord en daad een vorm van geëngageerde mannelijkheid in de wereld zichtbaar maken en inzetten. Dat mannen dat op een gebalanceerde\, krachtige en tegelijk kwetsbare manier mogen doen. Dit in navolging van inspirerende voorbeelden als Nelson Mandela\, Martin Luther King of Mahatma Gandhi … grootse mannen die ons ‘de middenweg’ zijn voorgegaan. DESCRIPTION:World Toilet Day (WTD) is an United Nations international observance day on 19 November to inspire action to tackle the global sanitation crisis. \nWorldwide\, 3.47 billion people live without “safely managed sanitation” and around 419 million people practice open defecation. Sustainable Development Goal 6 aims to “Ensure availability and sustainable management of water and sanitation for all”. In particular\, target 6.2 is to “End open defecation and provide access to sanitation and hygiene”. When the Sustainable Development Goals Report 2020 was published\, United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres said\, “Today\, Sustainable Development Goal 6 is badly off track” and it “is hindering progress on the 2030 Agenda\, the realization of human rights and the achievement of peace and security around the world”. WTD exists to inform\, engage and inspire people to take action toward achieving this goal. The UN General Assembly declared World Toilet Day an official UN day in 2013\, after Singapore had tabled the resolution (its first resolution before the UN’s General Assembly of 193 member states). Prior to that\, World Toilet Day had been established unofficially by the World Toilet Organization (a Singapore-based NGO) in 2001. UN-Water is the official convener of World Toilet Day. UN-Water maintains the official World Toilet Day website and chooses a special theme for each year. WTD is marked by communications campaigns and other activities. Events are planned by UN entities\, international organizations\, local civil society organizations and volunteers to raise awareness and inspire action. Toilets are important because access to a safe functioning toilet has a positive impact on public health\, human dignity\, and personal safety\, especially for females. Sanitation systems that do not safely treat excreta (urine and feces) allow for the spread of disease. Serious soil-transmitted diseases and waterborne diseases such as cholera\, diarrhea\, typhoid\, dysentery and schistosomiasis can result. World Toilet Day is about inspiring action to tackle the global sanitation crisis. World Toilet Day is celebrated on 19th November every year. It’s all about inspiring action to tackle the global sanitation crisis and help achieve Sustainable Development Goal 6 (SDG 6)\, which promises sanitation for all by 2030. Hoe ga je verder met je dagelijks leven\, als je weet dat elders op de wereld verschrikkelijke bosbranden gaande zijn? Bosbranden gaande zijn? Kan dat eigenlijk? Niet wegkijken van al die gevolgen van de klimaatcrisis en toch iets van levensgeluk vasthouden? Het leven ondanks alles blijven vieren? Velen van ons hebben besloten om zich in te zetten om de klimaatcrisis aan te pakken. Dat kan zijn door plantaardig te eten\, of minder plastic te gebruiken. Anderen gaan het gesprek aan in hun omgeving om bewustwording te vergroten. Of gaan over tot actie\, samen met één van de milieu-organisaties als Milieudefensie\, Greenpeace of Extinction Rebellion. \nVoor zoveel mogelijk mensen die boos\, bezorgd of verdrietig zijn over het klimaat en geïnspireerd zijn om iets te veranderen aan de toestand van het klimaat. Activisten\, bezorgde mensen\, religieus en niet-religieus\, jongeren en volwassenen. Bezoekers van de Klimaatwakes zoeken inspiratie om zich actief in te zetten. Samen delen waar je bang voor bent\, omdat je niet wilt wegkijken\, maar klimaat-rampen onder ogen zien\, geeft troost. Soms merk je dat je inzet tegen de klimaatcrisis je kan vervreemden of isoleren van je vrienden of familie. Of je kan je verdrietig en gefrustreerd voelen dat er zo slecht geluisterd wordt door overheid en bedrijven. De Klimaatwakes zijn een plek waar zorgen over de toekomst van de aarde gedeeld kunnen worden. \nFrank Huisingh\, spreker bij de Klimaatwake van november 2025\, is de oprichter van FossilfreeFootball. Voetbal en klimaatopwarming gaan niet goed samen. Spelen in de hitte of op ondergelopen velden werkt niet. Toch ‘vernieuwde’ de UEFA de Champion League vanaf seizoen 2024-2025\, door uit te breiden naar een mondiale competitie. Het gevolg: een enorme boost aan de opwarming van de Aarde. Vanaf nu vliegen massa’s mensen (teams en fans) naar de andere kant van de wereld. DESCRIPTION:During the World Antibiotic Awareness Week (WAAW)\, the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO)\, the World Health Organization (WHO) and the World Organisation for Animal Health (OIE) are together calling for responsible use of antibiotics in humans and animals to reduce the emergence of antibiotic resistance. \nThe aim of the week is to increase global awareness of antibiotic resistance. It also wants to promote the correct usage of antibiotics across all fields in order to prevent further instances of antibiotic resistance. World Antibiotic Awareness Week has been held every November since 2015.  Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR) occurs when bacteria\, viruses\, fungi and parasites no longer respond to antimicrobial agents. As a result of drug resistance\, antibiotics and other antimicrobial agents become ineffective and infections become difficult or impossible to treat\, increasing the risk of disease spread\, severe illness and death. The World AMR Awareness Week is a global campaign to raise awareness and understanding of AMR and promote best practices among One Health stakeholders to reduce the emergence and spread of drug-resistant infections. WAAW is celebrated from 18-24 November every year. \nThe theme for WAAW 2025 is “Act Now: Protect Our Present\, Secure Our Future.” This theme underscores the urgent need to take bold\, united action to address AMR. AMR is already harming our health\, food systems\, environment and economies. It’s not a future challenge. It is happening now. Drug-resistant infections are increasing\, yet awareness\, investment and action are still falling short. Building on the momentum of the 2024 United Nations General Assembly High-level Meeting on AMR\, this call to action urges all stakeholders\, including governments\, civil society\, health-care providers\, veterinarians\, farmers\, environmental actors and the public to translate the political commitments into tangible\, accountable\, life-saving interventions. The work of the COP is governed by its Rules of Procedure and keeps under regular review the implementation of the Convention and takes the decisions necessary to promote its effective implementation\, and may also adopt protocols\, annexes and amendments to the Convention. The COP may establish such subsidiary bodies as are necessary to achieve the objective of the Convention\, such as the Intergovernmental Negotiating Body on a Protocol on Illicit Trade in Tobacco Products. The COP also may establish working groups or expert groups with the mandate to elaborate guidelines and recommendations for the implementation of different treaty provisions. The Meeting of the Parties (MOP) is the governing body of the Protocol to Eliminate Illicit Trade in Tobacco Products. DESCRIPTION:Afgelopen jaar zijn wijkraadslid Dirk Breedveld en voorzitter van SchipholWatch Alfred Blokhuizen herhaaldelijk online bedreigd omdat zij opkomen voor iets fundamenteels: het recht op een gezonde leefomgeving en het recht om je uit te spreken tegen de schadelijke impact van de vliegindustrie. Deze week bereikte die dreiging een angstaanjagend nieuw niveau. In de nacht van woensdag werd een explosief naar het huis van Breedveld gegooid[1]. Een daad die niet alleen bedoeld was om één persoon te intimideren\, maar om een hele beweging te raken. \nDeze aanslag staat niet op zichzelf. Ze is het gevolg van een politieke [2] en mediacultuur [3] waarin activisten doelbewust worden weggezet als extremisten\, naïevelingen of vijanden van de economische status quo. Jarenlange verdachtmaking\, karaktermoord en het herhalen van simplistische tegenframes hebben een klimaat gecreëerd waarin geweld tegen burgers die opkomen voor klimaatrechtvaardigheid ineens voorstelbaar lijkt. En laten we helder zijn: dit is óók het gevolg van een gewetenloze luchtvaartlobby die keer op keer desinformatie verspreidt [4]\, rapporten achterhoudt [5]\, en de politici aanzet [6] hetzelfde te doen. \nEn deze week bleef het stil. Te stil. De veroordeling bleef uit. Politieke partijen zwegen. Media draaiden weg. Geen enkele leider stond op om te zeggen: dit is ontoelaatbaar\, dit gaat ons allemaal aan. \nWij eisen een ondubbelzinnige\, publiek uitgesproken veroordeling van deze aanslag door alle politieke partijen\, media en maatschappelijke instituties. \nWij roepen op tot een structurele boycot van de luchtvaartlobby door alle politieke partijen\, zodat beleid weer in dienst staat van mensen\, niet van bedrijfsbelangen. \nWij staan schouder aan schouder met Alfred Blokhuizen én met VVD’er Dirk Breedveld. \nWij laten ons niet intimideren. DESCRIPTION:De meteorenzwerm Leoniden bereikt op maandag 17 november 2025\, rond 15:00\, zijn maximum\, de meteoren van de Leoniden zijn snel\, en de zwerm is bekend vanwege zijn regens in 1799\, 1833\, 1866\, 1966 en 1999. \nWanneer de radiant in het zenit zou staan\, zouden er van deze zwerm naar verwachting gemiddeld zo’n 13 meteoren per uur vallen. De radiant van de zwerm staat rond 07:00 in het hoogste punt aan de hemel\, op 60° boven de horizon. Het beste moment om Leoniden waar te nemen is op 17 november rond 06:00. De radiant staat op dat moment zo’n 57° boven de horizon\, in het zuidzuidoosten. In onze streken zijn dan vermoedelijk circa 4–9 meteoren per uur van deze zwerm te zien. In totaal zijn er\, door meteoren van andere zwermen en sporadische meteoren\, bij donkere en heldere hemel circa 18–28 meteoren per uur zichtbaar. Op een donkere locatie zijn ruim drie keer zoveel meteoren te zien als in dichtbevolkt gebied. De Maan komt om 05:06 op\, is voor ongeveer 8% verlicht en stoort niet erg. Rond 07:30 gaat het schemeren en om 08:03 komt de Zon op. Over het algemeen zijn de de meteoren van een zwerm niet alleen op de dag van het maximum zichtbaar. Zo is gedurende circa 3\,0 dagen rondom het maximum ruim de helft van het maximale aantal meteoren (3 per uur) van de Leoniden te zien. Tot 4 dagen voor en na het maximum zijn nog meteoren van deze zwerm te herkennen. De zwerm heeft daarmee een relatief korte piek. Probeer dus ook enkele nachten voor en na het maximum meteoren waar te nemen. Iedere dag verder weg van het maximum zijn er echter wel ongeveer 40% minder meteoren per uur te zien. De snelheden van de meteoren van de Leoniden zijn behoorlijk hoog: zo’n 71 km/s\, dat is circa 253.800 km/uur. \nLinks:\nMeteorenzwerm Leoniden in november 2025

Het wordt elke zondagmorgen uitgezonden tussen 07:00 en 10:00 op NPO Radio 1. De beginmuziek is een bewerking van Vivaldi’s “Piccolo Concerto in C major” (RV 443). De tv editie wordt uitgezonden via NPO 2 op zondag\, vaak rond een thema. \nHet is volop najaar aan de Zuidkust van Schouwen. Zeekraal en schorrenkruid kleuren het landschap rood\, roze en paars. Boven onze hoofden vliegen vele wulpen\, scholeksters en bonte strandlopers op en neer tussen de zandplaten in de Oosterschelde en de binnendijkse natuur. Natuurfilmer Marit ziet hier bruinvissen\, onze kleinste walvis. Onderwater lijkt een soort tweede lente plaats te vinden met opgroeiende sepia’s\, felgekleurde zeenaaktslakken en zeepaardjes. DESCRIPTION:Since the adoption of the World Day of Remembrance for Road Traffic Victims\, pursuant to General Assembly resolution 60/5\, the observance has spread to a growing number of countries on every continent. \nThe Day has become an important tool in global efforts to reduce road casualties. It offers an opportunity for drawing attention to the scale of emotional and economic devastation caused by road crashes and for giving recognition to the suffering of road crash victims and the work of support and rescue services. The objectives of the World Day of Remembrance for Road Traffic Victims are to provide a platform for road traffic victims and their families to: \n\nremember all people killed and seriously injured on the roads;\nacknowledge the crucial work of the emergency services;\ndraw attention to the generally trivial legal response to culpable road deaths and injuries\nadvocate for better support for road traffic victims and victim families;\npromote evidence-based actions to prevent and eventually stop further road traffic deaths and injuries.\n\nA dedicated website was launched to make the Day more widely known and to link countries through sharing common objectives and the remembrance of people killed and injured in crashes. In September 2020\, the UN General Assembly adopted resolution A/RES/74/299 “Improving global road safety”\, proclaiming the Decade of Action for Road Safety 2021-2030\, with the ambitious target of preventing at least 50% of road traffic deaths and injuries by 2030. DESCRIPTION:In March 2024\, the General Assembly declared 15 November the International Day for the Prevention of and Fight against All Forms of Transnational Organized Crime\, in order to raise awareness of the threats posed by all forms of transnational organized crime and to enhance international cooperation in this regard. \nIt recognized the importance of the prevention of and fight against transnational organized crime for the implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. The General Assembly commemorated all victims of organized crime\, including those who have lost their lives fighting such crime\, in particular law enforcement and judicial personnel\, and paying special tribute to all those persons\, such as Judge Giovanni Falcone\, whose work and sacrifice paved the way for the adoption of the Convention\, and affirming that their legacy lives on through our global commitment to preventing and combating organized crime. Organized crime thrives worldwide\, affecting governance and political processes\, and weakening the advancement of the rule of law. It encompasses\, inter alia\, illicit trafficking of firearms\, drugs\, protected species\, cultural property\, or falsified medical products and\, among its most severe manifestations\, human trafficking and the smuggling of migrants. It also includes the laundering of proceeds of crime and obstruction of justice. Moreover\, with all forms of organized crime shifting ever more to being dependent on or incorporating online aspects\, including the use of virtual assets\, its reach and capability of harm is increasing. Organized criminal groups are flexible in changing or expanding their illicit businesses for profit. They misuse vulnerabilities and crisis situations such as the COVID-19 pandemic\, economic downturns\, natural disasters\, and armed conflicts exploiting them for their own purposes. Traditional\, territorial-based criminal groups have evolved or have been partially replaced by smaller and more flexible networks with branches across several jurisdictions. Criminal actors\, witnesses\, victims and proceeds of crime may be located in many different States. It is therefore evident\, that joint efforts from States across the world are required as organized crime cannot be tackled in isolation. \nThe 2025 campaign\, “Follow the money. Stop organized crime.”\, highlights the cost of transnational organized crime and underscores the importance of tracing illicit financial flows to cut the lifeline of criminal networks. By targeting the profits of organized crime\, we can disrupt operations\, strengthen justice and return stolen assets to communities. Everyone\, including Member States\, international organizations\, civil society\, the private sector and individuals\, is encouraged to take part in this year’s campaign. Transnational organized crime is a growing global threat that harms and exploits people\, communities\, economies and the planet. DESCRIPTION:PEN International\, de eerste wereldwijde vereniging van schrijvers\, is de initiatiefnemer van Dag van de Gevangen Schrijver en de Vermoorde Schrijver.\n\nDeze dag gaat om het stilstaan bij de gevangengenomen schrijver en het herdenken van de verdwenen schrijver of de vermoorde schrijver. De dag heeft ook betrekking op een dichter\, journalist of blogger\, deze dag is voor iedereen die betrokken is bij het geschreven of gesproken woord. PEN roept wereldwijd autoriteiten op om iedereen vrij te laten die uitsluitend gevangen is gezet omdat gebruik werd gemaakt van het recht op vrijheid van meningsuiting\, recht op vrijheid van vreedzame vereniging en/of vergadering. Dat vrijheid van meningsuiting niet in elk land zo vanzelfsprekend is helaas meer dan bekend. Elk jaar zet PEN International een paar mensen in de spotlight. DESCRIPTION:XR Gifvrij\, XR West-Friesland en XR Drenthe organiseren een mars naar de gifproducenten Bayer\, Syngenta en Incotec in Enkhuizen. \nLandbouwgif doodt insecten en bodemleven\, vergiftigt het water\, bedreigt onze gezondheid en vernietigt de biodiversiteit. Dat kán anders\, bewijzen miljoenen agro-ecologisch boeren die samen voldoende voedsel produceren om de wereld te voeden. In Enkhuizen zijn naast elkaar drie bedrijven gevestigd die ‘leven’ van landbouwgif. Die worden op 14 november 2025 ter verantwoording geroepen. Bayer en Syngenta behoren tot de grootste gifproducenten. Hun gezamenlijke omzet is zo’n € 36 miljard (2024). Naast ‘legaal’ landbouwgif produceren ze ook middelen die in de Europese Unie allang verboden zijn. Die worden geëxporteerd\, veelal naar het mondiale zuiden\, en vormen een groot gevaar voor de lokale bevolking. En: wij importeren voedsel uit veel van de landen die dit landbouwgif kopen en gebruiken… Incotec\, dat zaden van een coating voorziet zodat ze makkelijker te planten zijn\, stopt ook landbouwgif in die coatings. Daarmee is Incotec medeplichtig aan het verspreiden van het gif dat de aarde en al haar bewoners kapot maakt. \nLinks:\nMars voor gezonde landbouw
