SUMMARY:Day of Charity / Dag van de Liefdadigheid 2026
DESCRIPTION:In the 2030 Agenda on Sustainable Development adopted in September 2015\, the United Nations recognizes that eradicating poverty in all its forms and dimensions\, including extreme poverty\, is the greatest global challenge and an indispensable requirement for sustainable development. \nThe Agenda also calls for a spirit of strengthened global solidarity\, focused in particular on the needs of the poorest and most vulnerable. It also acknowledges the role of the diverse private sector\, ranging from micro-enterprises to cooperatives to multinationals\, and that of civil society organizations and philanthropic organizations in the implementation of the new Agenda. The 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) set forth in the Agenda can be grouped into six critical areas: people\, planet\, prosperity\, peace\, and partnership. They have the potential to transform our lives and our planet by providing the framework needed for philanthropic institutions to enable all people to contribute to the betterment of our world. \nLinks:\nDay of Charity – 5 September

SUMMARY:Amsterdam City Swim 2026
\nLinks:\nAmsterdam City Swim

SUMMARY:Global Citizen Festival 2026 (TV webcast) [CANCELLED]
DESCRIPTION:The Global Citizen Festival is an annual music festival held in Central Park\, started in 2012 and organized by Global Citizen. \nThe festival was founded by Ryan Gall and Hugh Evans. Gall said he was inspired by visiting Austin City Limits and seeing the branding on the stage\, but wanting to replace the corporate branding with branding from charities. Since 2015\, Coldplay lead vocalist Chris Martin has served as the festival’s curator. Due to the extreme weather forecast for New York City in September 2026\, Global Citizen made the difficult decision\, in consultation with the City of New York and NYC Parks\, to cancel this year’s Global Citizen Festival. \nLinks:\nGlobal Citizen Festival
