DESCRIPTION:In 1979\, the United Nations General Assembly adopted a program of activities to be undertaken during the second half of the Decade for Action to Combat Racism and Racial Discrimination. \nOn this occasion\, the General Assembly decided that a week of solidarity with the peoples struggling against racism and racial discrimination\, beginning on 21 March\, would be organized annually. The International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination\, March 21\, commemorates the anniversary of the Sharpeville Massacre in 1960 and falls at the beginning of this week of solidarity. On that day in South Africa\, peaceful demonstrators against apartheid were killed. DESCRIPTION:Op 21 maart 2026 wordt in Amsterdam gedemonstreerd tegen racisme en fascisme\, om een krachtig geluid te laten horen tegen extreemrechts. \nDe democratische rechtsstaat wordt niet in één klap afgeschaft. Zij wordt langzaam uitgehold. Rechten verdwijnen stukje bij beetje. Demonstreren wordt ingeperkt. Kritiek wordt gecriminaliseerd. Racisme schuift van de marge naar het midden en wordt beleid. Tegelijkertijd worden zorg\, onderwijs en betaalbaar wonen afgebroken. Ongelijkheid groeit. Uitsluiting wordt genormaliseerd. Dit is geen crisis en geen ongeluk. DESCRIPTION:Volgens onderzoek van het Ministerie van Sociale Zekerheid en Welzijn (2024)\, ervaren van de ruim 2 miljoen Aziatische Nederlanders\, 1 op de 3 racisme en discriminatie\, onder Chinese Nederlanders is dat zelfs 1 op de 2. \nEn nog steeds wordt anti-Aziatisch racisme niet gezien. Niet begrepen. En keer op keer gedoogd. “Genoeg is genoeg\,” zei Ruud de Wild op maandag 23 maart 2026. Maar dat is juist wat Aziatische Nederlanders al jaren zeggen. In 2020 zei DeGoedeZaak het al in de petitie ‘Wij zijn geen virussen‘\, die door meer dan 65.000 mensen werd ondertekend. Zij maken nog elke dag racisme mee. Op radio. Op tv. In campagnes. In klaslokalen. Steeds opnieuw hetzelfde beeld: Aziaten als grap. Als stereotype. Als karikatuur. [1] Dit is niet onschuldig\, maar leidt ook tot verbaal en fysiek geweld! Daarom moeten we nu in actie komen en de normalisering van deze vorm van racisme stoppen. Het is belangrijk dat dit niet wordt weggewuifd! Er moet verantwoordelijkheid worden genomen door de media die macht heeft over wat als ‘normaal’ gezien wordt. Daarom vragen we de minister van Onderwijs\, Cultuur en Wetenschap deze verantwoordelijkheid te nemen. Er moeten nu stappen genomen worden tegen de normalisering van anti-Aziatisch racisme. Zolang racisme wordt weggewoven\, groeit het. Daarin mogen we niet selectief zijn. Als we niet alle vormen van racisme serieus nemen\, beschermen we uiteindelijk niemand. Voor het racisme en geweld dat Aziatische Nederlanders nu mee maken\, moeten we de volgende generatie beschermen. Daarvoor is nu actie nodig! De petitie ‘Stop de normalisering van anti-Aziatisch racisme in media‘ is door DeGoedeZaak gestart namens de diverse Aziatisch-Nederlandse gemeenschappen\, Hui-Hui Pan (Pan Asian Collective)\, Rui-Jun Luong (Asian Raisins)\, Julie Ng (Meer dan Babi Pangang) en het anti-Aziatisch Racisme Manifest. Zij zetten zich elke dag in om deze normalisering tegen te gaan. Het is aan ons om naast hen te gaan staan.
