DESCRIPTION:This first World Lake Day\, let’s be aware of the problem lakes are facing; let’s protect them today for a sustaining life tomorrow. \nLakes are one of the most vital natural resources on our planet. They serve as a crucial source of fresh water\, supporting drinking water supplies\, agriculture\, and industry. Lakes also play a key role in maintaining biodiversity\, offering a habitat for countless species of fish\, plants\, and wildlife. Beyond their ecological significance\, lakes contribute to climate regulation by keeping the planet cool\, absorbing the floodwater and storing carbon. Additionally\, they provide recreational and economic opportunities\, attracting tourism\, fishing\, and other activities that support local communities. But lakes are affected by a combination of overuse\, pollution and climate change. Lake pollution is frequently caused by inflows from fertilizers\, contaminants and solid waste being dumped directly\, or flushed into lakes via rivers\, and this is worsened by global warming – leading\, for instance\, to more frequent and intense floods. The water levels of lakes are also changing dramatically. DESCRIPTION:Vroege Vogels is een live-radioprogramma\, tv-programma en online community van BNNVARA over natuur en milieu. \nIn het radioprogramma wordt het gesproken woord omlijst door licht klassieke muziek en salonmuziek. Het radioprogramma werd in 1978 voor het eerst uitgezonden door de VARA en is een van de langst lopende en best beluisterde radioprogramma’s van de publieke omroep. Het wordt elke zondagmorgen uitgezonden tussen 07:00 en 10:00 op NPO Radio 1. De beginmuziek is een bewerking van Vivaldi’s “Piccolo Concerto in C major” (RV 443). \nDe jury van de Natuurboekenprijs 2026 maakt de shortlist bekend tijdens de uitzending. Ze hebben de boeken van de longlist verslonden en zijn tot een top 5 gekomen. De Waddenzee is een belangrijke plek voor migrerende steltlopers. Volgens filmer Folkert Jan Hoogstra is augustus is dé maand om ze te zien. In het Reevediep wordt een pilot uitgevoerd voor biodiversiteitsonderzoek met behulp van lucht-eDNA. De methode is gebaseerd op het feit dat alle levende organismen\, via huidcellen\, urine of pollen\, hun DNA achterlaten. Verder in de uitzending: de valse wolfspin\, Drentse flora\, egelopvang\, veencongres\, natuurbeweging is te mild en flora Rothmaler. De column is van Bibi Dumon Tak.
