They absorb our carbon dioxide\, stabilize climate patterns\, and are home to half the world’s plant and animal species. Yet every minute\, we lose 40 football fields of rainforests\, which threatens our biodiversity and imperils our planet’s health. Deforestation causes 15% of global carbon dioxide emissions that accelerate climate change—more than from all cars in the U.S. and China combined. Furthermore\, they are vital to the livelihood of millions of people around the world. They are ecologically\, culturally\, economically\, and recreationally important! However\, many are critically endangered or threatened. It is our shared responsibility to find solutions to restore fish migration\, recover healthy rivers and prevent future degradation and species extinction! Groen in de stad is belangrijker dan ooit\, maar staat onder druk. Uit onderzoek van Natuur & Milieu blijkt dat het openbaar groen in steden de afgelopen jaren is afgenomen. Vooral in kwetsbare buurten is er een tekort aan groen. Dat is slecht nieuws voor mens én natuur.
