DESCRIPTION:Vroege Vogels is een live-radioprogramma\, tv-programma en online community van BNNVARA over natuur en milieu. \nIn het radioprogramma wordt het gesproken woord omlijst door licht klassieke muziek en salonmuziek. Het radioprogramma werd in 1978 voor het eerst uitgezonden door de VARA en is een van de langst lopende en best beluisterde radioprogramma’s van de publieke omroep. Het wordt elke zondagmorgen uitgezonden tussen 07:00 en 10:00 op NPO Radio 1. De beginmuziek is een bewerking van Vivaldi’s “Piccolo Concerto in C major” (RV 443). De tv editie wordt uitgezonden via NPO 2 op zondag\, vaak rond een thema. \nNergens anders in Europa vind je een coulisselandschap zo groot als de Noardlike Fryske Wâlden. In dit agrarisch landschap in Oost-Friesland barst het van de gekraagde roodstaarten en de spotvogels. Zij nestelen in houtwallen en elzensingels\, die de boeren hier al eeuwenlang in stand houden. Omdat schaalvergroting er bijna niet heeft plaatsgevonden\, grazen de koeien nog steeds op kleine perceeltjes. Aan de randen groeien planten die je misschien niet verwacht op het boerenland zoals heide\, muizenoor en zelfs varens als dubbelloof. ’s Nachts vliegen er volop nachtvlinders en de daarop jagende vleermuizen\, die gebruik maken van de lijnen in het landschap. \nLinks:\nVroege Vogels

De beginmuziek is een bewerking van Vivaldi’s “Piccolo Concerto in C major” (RV 443). \nNet over de grens in het Duitse Zwillbrocker Venn leeft een flamingokolonie van zo’n 80 vogels groot. Natuurfotograaf Erik Ottema volgt de kolonie al een jaar of tien en is er bijna dagelijks te vinden. In 2022 besloot Militair Jesse zich in Oekraïne in te zetten voor de vrede en vrijheid. In mei 2024 kwam hij daar om. Zijn laatste wens was om met zijn nalatenschap een stuk landbouwgrond te kopen en dat weer te laten verwilderen tot natuur. Veel jonge trekvogels leren de route van hun ouders\, maar hoe zit dat bij kleine zangvogels? Nieuw onderzoek naar de bonte vliegenvanger laat zien dat zowel genen als de omgeving waarin een vogel opgroeit bepalen waar hij uiteindelijk overwintert. DESCRIPTION:The International Day of the Tropics celebrates the extraordinary diversity of the tropics while highlighting unique challenges and opportunities nations of the Tropics face\, it provides an opportunity to take stock of progress across the tropics\, to share tropical stories and expertise and to acknowledge the diversity and potential of the region. \nThe Tropics are a region of the Earth\, roughly defined as the area between the tropic of Cancer and the tropic of Capricorn. Although topography and other factors contribute to climatic variation\, tropical locations are typically warm and experience little seasonal change in day-to-day temperature. An important feature of the Tropics is the prevalence of rain in the moist inner regions near the equator\, and that the seasonality of rainfall increases with the distance from the equator. The tropical region faces several challenges such as climate change\, deforestation\, logging\, urbanisation and demographic changes. Tropical nations have made significant progress but face a variety of challenges that demand focused attention across a range of development indicators and data in order to achieve sustainable development. \n\nBy 2050\, the region will host most of the world’s people and two-thirds of its children.\nConsistent with the higher levels of poverty\, more people experience undernourishment in the Tropics than in the rest of the world.\nThe proportion of the urban population living in slum conditions is higher in the Tropics than in the rest of the World.\n\nThe inaugural State of the Tropics Report was launched on 29 June 2014\, as the culmination of a collaboration between twelve leading tropical research institutions. The report offers a unique perspective on this increasingly important region. Marking the anniversary of the report’s launch the United Nations General Assembly adopted resolution A/RES/70/267 in 2016\, which declared that 29 June of each year is to be observed as the International Day of the Tropics. The international Day of the Tropics was designated to raise awareness to the specific challenges faced by tropical areas\, the far-reaching implications of the issues affecting the world’s tropical zone and the need\, at all levels\, to raise awareness and to underline the important role that countries in the tropics will play in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals. \nLinks:\nDay of the Tropics

DESCRIPTION:The 7th edition of the World Conference on Marine Biodiversity will be organized in Bruges between November 17th and 20th 2026. \nThe WCMB 2026 will fly the UN Ocean Decade flag\, as it has been endorsed as a UN Ocean Decade Event. The overall theme of the Conference is “The marine biodiversity insights we need\, for the ocean we want”.
