SUMMARY:2024 United Nations Biodiversity Conference
DESCRIPTION:The 2024 United Nations Biodiversity Conference of the Parties (COP16) to the UN Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD) is a conference scheduled to be held from October 21 to November 1\, 2024 in Cali\, Colombia. \nThe monitoring framework agreed at the previous conference should allow the progress of the countries towards national goals and targets under the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework to be evaluated. The Conference encompasses the Sixteenth meeting of the Conference of the Parties to the Convention on Biological Diversity (COP 16)\, the Eleventh meeting of the Conference of the Parties serving as the meeting of the Parties to the Cartagena Protocol on Biosafety\, and the Fifth meeting of the Conference of the Parties serving as the meeting of the Parties to the Nagoya Protocol on Access to Genetic Resources and the Fair and Equitable Sharing of Benefits Arising from their Utilization. It will include a high-level ministerial segment. COP 16 will be the first Biodiversity COP since the adoption of the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework at COP 15 in December 2022 in Montreal\, Canada. At COP 16\, governments will be tasked with reviewing the state of implementation of the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework. Parties to the Convention are expected to show the alignment of their National Biodiversity Strategies and Action Plans (NBSAPs) with the Framework. COP 16 will further develop the monitoring framework and advance resource mobilization for the Global Biodiversity Framework. SUMMARY:Stop de herrie & red onze zeedieren! - petitie
DESCRIPTION:Ze hebben geluid nodig om te overleven — maar door de herrie die commerciële schepen onder water veroorzaken\, krijgen de dieren in onze Noordzee het steeds moeilijker. \nNu is er bij de EU een voorstel om het volume omlaag te draaien\, walvissen\, dolfijnen en andere zeedieren te helpen en het aantal dodelijke aanvaringen terug te schroeven. Van de kleinste visjes tot de grootste walvissen: het gros van onze zeedieren is afhankelijk van geluid om te overleven. Dolfijnen en walvissen gebruiken geluid om sociale banden te onderhouden\, te jagen en op lange afstand te communiceren. Veel vissen gebruiken geluid om paringspartners te vinden en roofdieren te spotten. Maar onze zeeën zijn luid geworden. Commerciële schepen overstemmen de natuurlijke geluiden in zee en brengen onze zeedieren in gevaar. Ook in onze Noordzee zijn de gevolgen van toenemend onderwatergeluid groot voor het leven onder water — en het wordt alleen maar drukker. Nu kan Europa het volume lager zetten met een simpel\, haalbaar en praktisch besluit: door een voorstel voor een ‘blauwe’ snelheidsbeperking voor commerciële schepen aan te nemen. Als die 5 tot 10% trager varen\, zou de geluidsvervuiling volgens experts al met 25% dalen! SUMMARY:Plant mee aan een Stadsbos / Bomen voor Amsterdam 2024
DESCRIPTION:Amsterdammers houden van groen\, maar het aantal bomen groeit niet in hetzelfde tempo als de stad. \nEn dat terwijl bomen essentieel zijn: ze verkoelen onze omgeving\, zuiveren de lucht\, geven zuurstof\, bevorderen biodiversiteit én maken ons gelukkiger: daarom heeft Amsterdam meer groen nodig – en jij kunt daarbij helpen! Op zaterdag 2 november 2024 deelt Bomen voor Amsterdam 7.500 bomen uit op vier locaties door de stad. De vier uitdeellocaties zijn: Stadsboerderij Osdorp in Amsterdam Nieuw-West\, De Ceuvel in Amsterdam Noord\, De Groene Hub in Amsterdam Zuid-Oost en KIT Tropentuin in Amsterdam Oost. Zo kan iedere bewoner deelnemen en verspreiden wij ook het stadsgroen. Plant een boom in je tuin of op je balkon en draag bij aan een groeiend biodivers stadsbos.
