DESCRIPTION:Vanaf vrijdag 25 juli 2025 organiseert Rotterdam Palestina Coalitie samen met bezorgde burgers en organisaties een doorlopende 24-uurs wake bij het Ministerie van Buitenlandse Zaken in Den Haag. \nDeze actie is een dringend moreel en politiek appel op de Nederlandse regering om per direct sancties waaronder een wapenembargo tegen Israël in te stellen\, het associatieverdrag met de zionistische entiteit per direct te verbreken en haar medeplichtigheid aan de genocide in Gaza te beëindigen. Tijdens de wake zullen onafgebroken de namen van de vermoorde Palestijnen hardop voorlezen. De wake is een directe reactie op de aanhoudende weigering van de Nederlandse regering om op te treden tegen de genocide in Gaza. Ondanks protest\, petities\, demonstraties en maatschappelijke oproepen blijft Nederland actief samenwerken met en investeren in het Israëlische apartheidsregime. Het Ministerie van Buitenlandse Zaken is een symbool van de morele crisis waarin Nederland zich bevindt. Nederland is de grootste investeerder in Israël in de Europese Unie. Terwijl in Nederland de armoede toeneemt en er steeds meer mensen op straat leven\, er geen betaalbare woningen zijn\, het onderwijs en de zorg afbrokkelen\, gebruikt Nederland onze belastingcenten om een genocide te financieren. Er is sinds de Tweede Wereldoorlog geen hongersnood zo zorgvuldig gepland als in Gaza. Dit is geen natuurverschijnsel. Dit is een bewuste\, politieke keuze. Niet alleen van het zionistische apartheidsregime\, ook van de VS en de EU en dus ook van Nederland. Daarom voelen de deelnemers zich genoodzaakt om in actie te komen en deze 24-uurs wake bij het Ministerie van Buitenlandse Zaken te organiseren. Nederland had eigenhandig allang een halt kunnen toeroepen aan deze holocaust door een volledig economisch embargo op te leggen. Maar Nederland kiest er bewust voor om weg te kijken. The purpose of the day is to raise awareness of the Genocide Convention and its role in combating and preventing the crime of genocide\, as defined in the Convention\, and to commemorate and honour its victims. In adopting the resolution\, without a vote\, the 193-member Assembly reiterated the responsibility of each individual State to protect its populations from genocide\, which entails the prevention of such a crime\, including incitement to it. \nThe 2024 high-level Event will be held in person at the United Nations Headquarters in New York at the Trusteeship Council Chamber on 9 December 2024\, 17:00 – 19:00 CEST. Voor 27 januari is gekozen omdat op 27 januari 1945 soldaten van het Sovjetleger de overlevenden van het concentratiekamp Auschwitz bevrijdden. In Duitsland heet deze dag de Tag des Gedenkens an die Opfer des Nationalsozialismus. DESCRIPTION:The Independent International Fact-Finding Mission for the Sudan (“the Mission”) assesses that the mass killings and related atrocities committed by the Rapid Support Forces in and around El-Fasher\, during its takeover of the city on or around 26 and 27 October 2025\, are indicators of a genocidal path. \nThese crimes followed an 18-month siege during which the Rapid Support Forces deliberately imposed conditions of life calculated to bring about the physical destruction of non-Arab communities\, in particular the Zaghawa and the Fur. The Mission documented an escalating pattern that demonstrates coordination\, targeting and repetition of identity-based targeting linked to ethnicity\, gender\, and perceived political affiliation\, resulting in mass killings\, serious bodily and mental harm\, widespread rape and other forms of sexual violence\, arbitrary detention\, torture and cruel treatment\, and enforced disappearances\, accompanied by dehumanising and exterminatory rhetoric. This cumulative factual matrix reveals the intent of the Rapid Support Forces to destroy the Zaghawa and Fur communities in whole or in part. The conduct in El-Fasher is an aggravation of earlier patterns of mirror attacks against other non-Arab communities elsewhere in Sudan\, but on a far more lethal scale. Accountability of perpetrators\, including those who facilitate\, aid or abet these crimes\, remains imperative. According to the organization. \nIAW is a tool for mobilizing grassroots support on the global level for the Palestinian liberation struggle against Israel’s decades-long regime of settler colonialism and apartheid. DESCRIPTION:The Nakba (Arabic: النكبة\, romanized: an-Nakbah\, ’the “disaster”\, “catastrophe”\, or “cataclysm”‘)\, also known as the Palestinian Catastrophe\, was the destruction of Palestinian society and homeland in 1948\, and the permanent displacement of a majority of the Palestinian Arabs. \nMay 15\, 2026\, marks the 78th anniversary of the Nakba\, the forced expulsion of approximately 750\,000 Indigenous Palestinians from their homes in 1948. On top of the ruins of our homeland\, the Zionist movement established Israel as a settler colony\, which has adopted apartheid and military occupation to achieve its declared goal: maximum land\, minimum Palestinians. Israel’s livestreamed genocide against 2.3 million Palestinians in Gaza is the darkest chapter in this ongoing Nakba of oppression and ethnic cleansing. Cutting all links of state\, corporate\, and institutional complicity in its genocidal regime has become an irrefutable legal\, not just moral\, obligation. Israel seeks to normalize and divert attention from its settler-colonial origins by overwhelming the world with tens of thousands of current crimes against Palestinians and the peoples of the region from Lebanon and Iran to Syria and Yemen. Perpetrating unspeakable depraved violence\, it aims to colonize our minds not only with despair but also with amnesia. But Palestinians\, like our ancient olive trees\, are resilient and patient; we also have a fertile collective memory. Our refugees’ right to return home and receive reparations is our most fundamental goal. We struggle\, after all\, not just to end the genocide and the ongoing Nakba but also to dismantle their root cause: 78 years of settler-colonialism and apartheid. \nThe term Nakba is used to describe both the events of 1948 and the ongoing persecution\, displacement\, and occupation of the Palestinians\, both in the occupied West Bank and the Gaza Strip\, as well as in Palestinian refugee camps throughout the region. The foundational events of the Nakba took place during and shortly after the 1948 Palestine war\, including 78% of Mandatory Palestine being declared as Israel\, the expulsion and flight of 700\,000 Palestinians\, the related depopulation and destruction of over 500 Palestinian villages by Zionist militias and subsequent geographical erasure\, the denial of the Palestinian right of return\, the creation of permanent Palestinian refugees and the “shattering of Palestinian society”. The expulsion of the Palestinians has since been described by some historians as ethnic cleansing. In 1998\, Yasser Arafat proposed that Palestinians should mark the 50th anniversary of the Nakba declaring 15 May\, the day after Israeli independence in 1948\, as Nakba Day\, formalizing a date that had been unofficially used as early as 1949.The Nakba greatly influenced the Palestinian culture and is a foundational symbol of Palestinian identity\, together with “Handala“\, the keffiyeh and the symbolic key.
