DESCRIPTION:Nederland moet afzien van een verdrag met het Israëlische leger dat in Gaza verantwoordelijk is voor talloze ernstige oorlogsmisdaden. Ben je het hiermee eens? Teken dan de petitie. \nIn de Palestijnse Gazastrook voltrekt zich momenteel een regelrechte humanitaire catastrofe. Sinds de wrede en alom veroordeelde aanval van Hamas van 7 oktober 2023 maakt het Israëlische leger zich er schuldig aan het bombarderen\, uithongeren en gedwongen verplaatsen van de burgerbevolking. Er zijn al tenminste 30 duizend doden gevallen\, grotendeels burgers\, en nog veel meer gewonden. Gaza is grotendeels onleefbaar gemaakt en zowat alle ruim twee miljoen inwoners zijn ontheemd. Het Internationaal Gerechtshof acht het plausibel dat Israël zich schuldig maakt aan genocide. Daarnaast verbood het Haagse Gerechtshof onlangs de levering door Nederland van onderdelen van F-35-vliegtuigen waarmee Israël de Palestijnse Gazastrook bombardeert. Dit vanwege het risico dat met de F-35’s ernstige schendingen van het humanitair oorlogsrecht worden gepleegd. Desondanks werkt Nederland militair samen met Israël. Er is kennisuitwisseling tussen de Nederlandse krijgsmacht en die van Israël. Ook trainen Nederlandse militairen in Israël\, en andersom. Precieze details over deze militaire samenwerking worden door het kabinet overigens geheimgehouden. En nu staat Nederland op het punt om een defensieverdrag met Israël te sluiten. Dit verdrag regelt de aanwezigheid van Israëlische militairen op Nederlands grondgebied en vice versa. \nHet zal toekomstige samenwerking met het Israëlische leger\, dat nu Gaza vernietigt\, vergemakkelijken. Het verdrag ligt ter goedkeuring in de Eerste Kamer\, nadat de Tweede Kamer in april 2023 een grote meerderheid van de Tweede Kamer stemde voor het sluiten van een defensieverdrag met Israël. Het doel van het verdrag is om de juridische status te regelen van het defensiepersoneel van Nederland en Israël bij aanwezigheid op elkaars grondgebied\, dit is een versteviging van de militaire samenwerking met een land dat mensenrechten schendt. Toen waren er al overtuigende redenen om het verdrag niet te steunen\, zoals voortdurende bezetting\, uitbreiding van illegale nederzettingen en apartheid. Daar komt de vernietiging van Gaza\, mogelijk genocide\, nu bij. Militaire samenwerking met Israël geeft geen pas en Nederland moet dan ook geen defensieverdrag met Israël sluiten\, zeker niet onder de huidige omstandigheden. Het is naar alle maatstaven onaanvaardbaar om zaken te doen met een regering die zich schuldig maakt aan excessief geweld tegen een burgerbevolking. Maar het kan anders: de Eerste Kamer moet nog stemmen over het sluiten van het defensieverdrag en dus kunnen we het defensieverdrag tegenhouden. The purpose of the day is to raise awareness of the Genocide Convention and its role in combating and preventing the crime of genocide\, as defined in the Convention\, and to commemorate and honour its victims. In adopting the resolution\, without a vote\, the 193-member Assembly reiterated the responsibility of each individual State to protect its populations from genocide\, which entails the prevention of such a crime\, including incitement to it. \nThe 2024 high-level Event will be held in person at the United Nations Headquarters in New York at the Trusteeship Council Chamber on 9 December 2024\, 17:00 – 19:00 CEST. It will also be live webcasted on UNTV. It will include opening remarks\, followed by a panel discussion and statements from regional groups of Member States. DESCRIPTION:On 10 October 2024\, a coalition of Palestinian and Dutch NGOs announced a civil case challenging the conduct of the Dutch State in its dealings with Israel and the Occupied Palestinian Territory. \nThe organisations accuse the Dutch State of failing to uphold its legal obligations under international and domestic law\, as it does not respect its obligations to prevent the commission of the crime of genocide and to address Israel’s violations of international humanitarian law. The case is filed by Palestinian human rights organisations Al Haq\, Al-Mezan\, the Palestinian Center for Human Rights\, and Dutch NGOs Een Ander Joods Geluid (EAJG)\, European Legal Support Center (ELSC)\, Groningen Jabalya\, Netherlands Palestina Komitee\, SOMO\, Stichting Kifaia\, and Stichting Palestina\, and is supported by Erev Rav and Plant een Olijfboom. The legal basis of this complaint are international law obligations including jus cogens\, international humanitarian law\, and the Genocide Convention. The case seeks disciplinary action against the Dutch State to align its policies with international law obligations. DESCRIPTION:Since October 2023\, Israeli authorities have deliberately obstructed Palestinians’ access to the adequate amount of water required for survival in the Gaza Strip. \nAccording to the World Health Organization (WHO)\, a person needs between 50 and 100 liters of water per day in order to ensure that their “most basic needs are met.” In protracted emergency situations\, the minimum amount of water required is 15 liters of water per person per day for drinking and washing. Yet\, between October 2023 and September 2024\, Israeli authorities’ actions have deprived the majority of the more than 2 million Palestinians living in Gaza of access to even that bare minimum amount of water\, which has contributed to death and widespread disease. For many in Gaza\, much or all of the water they have had access to is not suitable for drinking. “If we can’t find drinkable water\, we drink the sea water\,” one father displaced to a school in Rafah told Human Rights Watch in December 2023. “It happened to me many times when I had to drink the sea water. Sluit je aan bij de oproep om druk te zetten op het songfestival om Israël uit te sluiten zolang ze hun aanvallen op het Palestijnse volk voortzetten. Al maanden komt er geen humanitaire hulp meer binnen in Gaza. Kinderen in Gaza sterven van honger. De Israëlische regering wil heel Gaza bezetten en miljoenen mensen verdrijven. Maar het Eurovisiesongfestival staat klaar om Israël een internationaal podium te geven. Verschillende landen zoals Spanje\, IJsland en Slovenië staan nu op tegen deze hypocrisie — en ook in Nederland klinkt er protest. Artiesten\, omroepen en duizenden mensen wereldwijd laten hun stem horen. We hebben nog enkele dagen om ervoor te zorgen dat ze onze oproep niet kunnen negeren. Sluit je aan bij de oproep om Israël uit te sluiten van het Eurovisiesongfestival zolang ze hun aanvallen voortzetten. Er zijn al 50.000 mensen vermoord in Gaza\, vooral vrouwen en kinderen. De resterende bevolking van Gaza wordt uitgehongerd en dagelijks gebombardeerd. \nEurovisie heeft zijn slogan officieel veranderd in ‘Verenigd door muziek’ en moet nu laten zien dat dit geen holle woorden zijn. De betekenis zou moeten zijn: verenigd tegen alle vormen van geweld en onderdrukking overal\, tegen iedereen. Hoveel Palestijnen zullen er nog sterven door verhongering of bombardementen voordat het liedje van Israël uitkomt? We moeten ervoor zorgen dat het Eurovisiesongfestival Israël een duidelijke boodschap geeft: je kunt niet zomaar oorlogsmisdaden plegen en vervolgens op het podium worden geroepen alsof er niets is gebeurd. Het songfestival trekt miljoenen kijkers — bijna 6% van de wereldbevolking. Deze campagne verzacht misschien niet rechtstreeks het leed in Gaza\, maar als we zwijgen nu Israël het podium betreedt\, geven we het signaal dat oorlogsmisdaden geen gevolgen hebben. Een land dat zulke overtredingen begaat\, zou geen internationaal platform mogen krijgen om zijn imago wit te wassen. Since the start of Israel’s livestreamed genocide against the people in Gaza\, BDS pressure to end international complicity in its regime of settler-colonial apartheid and illegal occupation has risen exponentially. The Palestinian BDS National Committee (BNC)\, the largest coalition in Palestinian society that is leading the global BDS movement\, calls for mass global mobilizations and civil disobedience on 15 May. Er wordt dus doorgegaan met de druk op te voeren en jij kunt daarbij helpen vanachter je laptop. Spreek deze partijen aan op hun Palestina standpunt en eis actie. Woensdag 2 juli 2025 debatteert de Tweede Kamer opnieuw over de situatie in Palestina\, en specifiek over de inzet van Nederland tijdens de EU-vergadering op 15 juli 2025 waar wordt gesproken over EU-maatregelen tegen Israël. Dit is de laatste keer dat de Kamer debatteert voordat het zomerreces voor acht weken ingaat. DESCRIPTION:Geen enkel land ter wereld investeert meer in Israël dan Nederland\, met deze investeringen wordt actief bijgedragen aan Israëls genocide van Palestijnen in Gaza. \nAls ’s werelds grootste investeerder in Israël pompen bedrijven vanuit ons land miljarden in de Israëlische oorlogsmachine waarmee Palestijnen worden gedood en uitgehongerd. Uit onderzoek van SOMO blijkt dat Nederland in 2023 ruim 49 miljard euro in Israël heeft geïnvesteerd. Het gaat hierbij om investeringen van bedrijven vanuit Nederland in Israël. Daarmee is Nederland wereldwijd de grootste investeerder in Israël. Dit betekent dat Nederland de Israëlische staatskas spekt\, maar ook dat het de macht heeft om druk uit te oefenen op Israël om de genocide en illegale bezetting te stoppen. Terwijl bijna 2 miljoen Palestijnen in Gaza worden uitgehongerd en dagelijks burgers worden vermoord\, blijft Nederland de Israëlische economie voeden. Door de geldkraan naar Israël dicht te draaien kan Nederland daadwerkelijk levens redden. Nederland heeft als grootste Europese investeerder in Israël een strategische positie om de genocide te stoppen. Israël heeft deze investeringen namelijk hard nodig om de economie van genocide en bezetting draaiend te houden. \nNederland heeft het Genocideverdrag ondertekend en heeft zich daarmee verplicht alles te doen wat in haar macht ligt om genocide te stoppen. De EU weigert nog altijd om een grens te trekken en Israël sancties op te leggen. Daarom moet Nederland nu zélf actie ondernemen. Met het onderzoek van SOMO wordt duidelijk dat Nederland genoeg kan doen en zou moeten doen. De regering moet sancties invoeren tegen Israël en een einde maken aan Nederlandse handel en investeringen die bijdragen aan de Israëlische genocide in Gaza en de illegale bezetting van Palestijns gebied. Naast deze sancties moet Nederland een volledig verbod invoeren op handel die bijdraagt aan het in stand houden van de illegale nederzettingen. Nederland mag niet langer bijdragen aan Israëls economie van genocide en bezetting. Dinsdag 2 december 2025 wordt deze petitie aangeboden in de Tweede Kamer. Ondanks een staakt-het-vuren gaat de genocide in Gaza gewoon door. Ook neemt het geweld van kolonisten tegen Palestijnen op de Westelijke Jordaanoever toe. DESCRIPTION:On Tuesday 15 July 2025\, European Union (EU) foreign ministers are meeting in Brussels to decide whether to impose sanctions on Israel. \nThis is a crucial moment for the EU to draw a red line and stop pumping billions of euros into Israel’s economy\, fuelling genocide and occupation. SOMO’s analysis of trade and foreign investment into and from Israel reveals how deeply intertwined the European and Israeli economies are. Based on this analysis\, SOMO calls for the immediate suspension of the EU-Israel Association Agreement\, along with a full arms embargo\, extensive economic sanctions and corporate accountability. The EU is the largest investor in Israel worldwide\, nearly twice as big as the United States (US). According to the most recent IMF data on foreign investment\, EU member states held €72.1 billion in foreign investment in Israel in 2023\, compared to €39.2 billion for the US. Israel itself has invested €65.9 billion in the EU\, seven times as much as in the US (€8.8 billion). That makes the EU the main destination for Israeli investment. Despite Israel’s ongoing genocide against Palestinians in Gaza and its unlawful occupation across the Occupied Palestinian Territory\, the EU increased exports to Israel by €1 billion\, standing at €25.5 billion in 2023 and €26.7 billion in 2024. The EU is Israel’s largest trading partner\, and its total trade with Israel in 2024\, including imports and exports\, amounted to €42.6 billion. This is significantly more than the US\, whose trade with Israel totalled €31.6 billion in the same year. Of all EU member states\, the Netherlands is by far the largest investor in Israel and is responsible for two-thirds of EU investment in Israel. In fact\, no other country worldwide has more investments in Israel. With €50 billion in investment held by Dutch companies in 2023\, the Netherlands even tops the US. DESCRIPTION:Vanaf vrijdag 25 juli 2025 organiseert Rotterdam Palestina Coalitie samen met bezorgde burgers en organisaties een doorlopende 24-uurs wake bij het Ministerie van Buitenlandse Zaken in Den Haag. \nDeze actie is een dringend moreel en politiek appel op de Nederlandse regering om per direct sancties waaronder een wapenembargo tegen Israël in te stellen\, het associatieverdrag met de zionistische entiteit per direct te verbreken en haar medeplichtigheid aan de genocide in Gaza te beëindigen. Tijdens de wake zullen onafgebroken de namen van de vermoorde Palestijnen hardop voorlezen. De wake is een directe reactie op de aanhoudende weigering van de Nederlandse regering om op te treden tegen de genocide in Gaza. Ondanks protest\, petities\, demonstraties en maatschappelijke oproepen blijft Nederland actief samenwerken met en investeren in het Israëlische apartheidsregime. Het Ministerie van Buitenlandse Zaken is een symbool van de morele crisis waarin Nederland zich bevindt. Nederland is de grootste investeerder in Israël in de Europese Unie. Terwijl in Nederland de armoede toeneemt en er steeds meer mensen op straat leven\, er geen betaalbare woningen zijn\, het onderwijs en de zorg afbrokkelen\, gebruikt Nederland onze belastingcenten om een genocide te financieren. Er is sinds de Tweede Wereldoorlog geen hongersnood zo zorgvuldig gepland als in Gaza. Dit is geen natuurverschijnsel. Dit is een bewuste\, politieke keuze. Niet alleen van het zionistische apartheidsregime\, ook van de VS en de EU en dus ook van Nederland. Daarom voelen de deelnemers zich genoodzaakt om in actie te komen en deze 24-uurs wake bij het Ministerie van Buitenlandse Zaken te organiseren. Nederland had eigenhandig allang een halt kunnen toeroepen aan deze holocaust door een volledig economisch embargo op te leggen. Maar Nederland kiest er bewust voor om weg te kijken. As detailed below\, the original aim of the conference was to obtain recognition of a Palestinian state from UN member states. On July 25\, 2025\, French President Emmanuel Macron announced that France would recognize a Palestinian State at the UN General Assembly in September. DESCRIPTION:On 3 September 2025\, the Dutch Court of Appeal will hear a case brought against the Dutch government by Al Haq\, Al-Mezan\, the Palestinian Center for Human Rights\, and Dutch NGOs Een Ander Joods Geluid (EAJG)\, European Legal Support Center (ELSC)\, Groningen Jabalya\, Netherlands Palestina Komitee\, SOMO\, Stichting Kifaia\, and Stichting Palestina\, and is supported by Erev Rav and Plant een Olijfboom. \nThe case demands an end to the Netherlands’ role in enabling Israel’s ongoing genocide in Gaza and its unlawful military occupation and colonisation of Palestinian land. These actions are not isolated policies\, but central pillars of a Zionist settler-colonial project rooted in forced displacement\, land theft\, and racial domination. The appeal challenges a ruling issued by The Hague District Court in December 2024\, which acknowledged the Dutch state’s obligations under international law but declined to enforce them. The court accepted the government’s position that arms exports could proceed under a “case-by-case” licensing framework\, even though the International Court of Justice determined that plausible genocide is being carried out in Gaza\, and the Dutch territory remained actively involved in transferring weapons used in that context. The court deemed the government’s “discouragement policy” on trade with illegal settlements as sufficient\, without evaluating its effectiveness or consistency with international law. In doing so\, the court affirmed a model of governance in which legal commitments are treated as symbolic\, accountability is optional\, and bureaucratic procedures replace political responsibility. This appeal is a direct challenge to a system that reduces state complicity in atrocities to a matter of bureaucratic discretion. The Netherlands’ entanglement in Israel’s regime of apartheid and colonisation is not new. It reflects a longer arc of European complicity in Zionist state-building and the violent reordering of Palestinian land\, demography\, and sovereignty. As a former colonial power\, the Netherlands has reconstituted its relationship to empire through trade\, surveillance\, and weapons supply. These entanglements expose the lie of European neutrality. DESCRIPTION:In September 2015\, the United Nations General Assembly established 9 December as the International Day of Commemoration and Dignity of the Victims of the Crime of Genocide and of the Prevention of this Crime. \nThe 9th of December is the anniversary of the adoption of the 1948 Convention on the Prevention and Punishment of the Crime of Genocide (the “Genocide Convention”). The purpose of the day is to raise awareness of the Genocide Convention and its role in combating and preventing the crime of genocide\, as defined in the Convention\, and to commemorate and honour its victims. In adopting the resolution\, without a vote\, the 193-member Assembly reiterated the responsibility of each individual State to protect its populations from genocide\, which entails the prevention of such a crime\, including incitement to it. \nThe 2024 high-level Event will be held in person at the United Nations Headquarters in New York at the Trusteeship Council Chamber on 9 December 2024\, 17:00 – 19:00 CEST. It will also be live webcasted on UNTV. It will include opening remarks\, followed by a panel discussion and statements from regional groups of Member States. Voor 27 januari is gekozen omdat op 27 januari 1945 soldaten van het Sovjetleger de overlevenden van het concentratiekamp Auschwitz bevrijdden. In Duitsland heet deze dag de Tag des Gedenkens an die Opfer des Nationalsozialismus.
