DESCRIPTION:Nederland moet afzien van een verdrag met het Israëlische leger dat in Gaza verantwoordelijk is voor talloze ernstige oorlogsmisdaden. Ben je het hiermee eens? Teken dan de petitie. \nIn de Palestijnse Gazastrook voltrekt zich momenteel een regelrechte humanitaire catastrofe. Sinds de wrede en alom veroordeelde aanval van Hamas van 7 oktober 2023 maakt het Israëlische leger zich er schuldig aan het bombarderen\, uithongeren en gedwongen verplaatsen van de burgerbevolking. Er zijn al tenminste 30 duizend doden gevallen\, grotendeels burgers\, en nog veel meer gewonden. Gaza is grotendeels onleefbaar gemaakt en zowat alle ruim twee miljoen inwoners zijn ontheemd. Het Internationaal Gerechtshof acht het plausibel dat Israël zich schuldig maakt aan genocide. Daarnaast verbood het Haagse Gerechtshof onlangs de levering door Nederland van onderdelen van F-35-vliegtuigen waarmee Israël de Palestijnse Gazastrook bombardeert. Dit vanwege het risico dat met de F-35’s ernstige schendingen van het humanitair oorlogsrecht worden gepleegd. Desondanks werkt Nederland militair samen met Israël. Er is kennisuitwisseling tussen de Nederlandse krijgsmacht en die van Israël. Ook trainen Nederlandse militairen in Israël\, en andersom. Precieze details over deze militaire samenwerking worden door het kabinet overigens geheimgehouden. En nu staat Nederland op het punt om een defensieverdrag met Israël te sluiten. Dit verdrag regelt de aanwezigheid van Israëlische militairen op Nederlands grondgebied en vice versa. \nHet zal toekomstige samenwerking met het Israëlische leger\, dat nu Gaza vernietigt\, vergemakkelijken. Het verdrag ligt ter goedkeuring in de Eerste Kamer\, nadat de Tweede Kamer in april 2023 een grote meerderheid van de Tweede Kamer stemde voor het sluiten van een defensieverdrag met Israël. Het doel van het verdrag is om de juridische status te regelen van het defensiepersoneel van Nederland en Israël bij aanwezigheid op elkaars grondgebied\, dit is een versteviging van de militaire samenwerking met een land dat mensenrechten schendt. Toen waren er al overtuigende redenen om het verdrag niet te steunen\, zoals voortdurende bezetting\, uitbreiding van illegale nederzettingen en apartheid. Daar komt de vernietiging van Gaza\, mogelijk genocide\, nu bij. Militaire samenwerking met Israël geeft geen pas en Nederland moet dan ook geen defensieverdrag met Israël sluiten\, zeker niet onder de huidige omstandigheden. Het is naar alle maatstaven onaanvaardbaar om zaken te doen met een regering die zich schuldig maakt aan excessief geweld tegen een burgerbevolking. Maar het kan anders: de Eerste Kamer moet nog stemmen over het sluiten van het defensieverdrag en dus kunnen we het defensieverdrag tegenhouden. DESCRIPTION:Door het afsluiten van de watertoevoer naar Gaza door Israël\, de systematische vernietiging van watervoorzieningen in Gaza en het opzettelijk tegenhouden van hulp om de watervoorzieningen te herstellen\, is het beschikbare water in Gaza met 94% afgenomen. \nPer persoon is er nog maar 4\,74 liter per dag beschikbaar om te drinken\, te wassen of te koken. Deze hoeveelheid is minder dan een derde van de aanbevolen 15 liter per persoon per dag als minimum in noodsituaties. Dit blijkt vandaag uit het nieuwe Oxfam-rapport Water War Crimes: Sinds het begin van de oorlog op 7 oktober 2023 vernietigen Israëlische militaire aanvallen elke drie dagen vijf locaties van de water- en sanitaire infrastructuur in Gaza. Sinds 26 mei 2024 is de waterproductie in Gaza met 84% gedaald als gevolg van de vernietiging van de waterinfrastructuur en invoerbeperkingen voor brandstof\, elektriciteit en reserveonderdelen voor water en sanitaire voorzieningen in Gaza. De externe leveringen van het Israëlische nationale waterbedrijf Mekorot aan Gaza daalden met 78%. Israël heeft 70% van alle rioolpompen en 100% van alle afvalwaterzuiveringsinstallaties vernietigd\, evenals de belangrijkste laboratoria voor het testen van de waterkwaliteit in Gaza. Ook heeft Israël de levering van watertestapparatuur door Oxfam naar Gaza ingeperkt. Gaza Stad is bijna al haar waterproductiecapaciteit verloren: 88% van de waterputten en 100% van de ontziltingsinstallaties zijn beschadigd of vernietigd. DESCRIPTION:How reliable are the death tolls from the Palestinian Ministry of Health in Gaza? \nIt has been one of the enduring questions of the war\, with the MoH producing the widely used figure of more than 38\,000 Palestinians killed to date. Israeli officials have repeatedly disputed the civilian toll – highlighting the MoH’s Hamas connections and publicly claiming its numbers are false. US President Joe Biden also initially said he had “no confidence” in the death tolls. In response\, the ministry has periodically released lists of names and IDs of Palestinians killed. In the largest and most in-depth public analysis of the MoH data yet\, Airwars used open source monitoring to independently identify nearly 3\,000 full names of civilian victims killed in the first 17 days of the war. Every name is listed below\, linked to individual reports detailing where and how they died. Where possible the reports include personal stories of lives lost. By comparing those victims’ names with the first list produced by the MoH\, this investigation found a high correlation between the official MoH data and what Palestinian civilians reported online – with 75% of publicly reported names also appearing on the MoH list. The research only relates to the initial weeks of the war – and evidence suggests the MoH figures have become less accurate as Gaza’s health infrastructure has been decimated by the war. DESCRIPTION:The UN Human Rights Office published a report on arbitrary\, prolonged and incommunicado detention by Israeli authorities\, affecting thousands of Palestinians from 7 October 2023 until 30 June 2024. \nThe report also covers allegations of torture and other forms of cruel\, inhuman and degrading treatment\, including sexual abuse of women and men. Since 7 October\, thousands of Palestinians – including medical staff\, patients and residents fleeing the conflict\, as well as captured fighters – have been taken from Gaza to Israel\, usually shackled and blindfolded. Thousands more have been detained in the West Bank and Israel. They have generally been held in secret\, without being given a reason for their detention\, access to a lawyer or effective judicial review\, the report states. At least 53 Palestinian detainees are known to have died in Israeli military facilities and prisons since the horrific attacks by Hamas and other Palestinian armed groups against Israeli civilians on 7 October. \nThe staggering number of men\, women\, children\, doctors\, journalists and human rights defenders detained since 7 October\, most of them without charge or trial and held in deplorable conditions\, along with reports of ill-treatment and torture and violation of due process guarantees\, raises serious concerns regarding the arbitrariness and the fundamentally punitive nature of such arrests and detention\, said UN Human Rights Chief Volker Türk. In Gaza\, mostly men and adolescent boys have been detained. Many have been taken into custody while sheltering in schools\, hospitals and residential buildings\, or at checkpoints during their displacement from north to south\, the report finds. The Israeli military does not usually explain publicly the basis for taking Palestinians into custody in Gaza\, although it has in some cases alleged affiliation with Palestinian armed groups or their political wings. Israel has also not provided information regarding the fate or whereabouts of many of those detained\, and the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) has been denied access to facilities where they are held. \nConditions in military-run detention facilities appear worse\, the report states\, adding children were among those held\, in some cases jointly with adults. Detainees said they were held in cage-like facilities\, stripped naked for prolonged periods\, wearing only diapers. Their testimonies told of prolonged blindfolding\, deprivation of food\, sleep and water\, and being subjected to electric shocks and being burnt with cigarettes. Some detainees said dogs were released on them\, and others said they were subjected to waterboarding\, or that their hands were tied and they were suspended from the ceiling. Some women and men also spoke of sexual and gender-based violence. Accounts of hostages taken by Hamas and other Palestinian armed groups last October also described appalling conditions of captivity\, including lack of food\, water and poor sanitary conditions\, and lack of fresh air and sunlight. \nSome described being beaten while being taken into Gaza\, or seeing other hostages being beaten while in captivity; receiving surgery or stitches without anaesthetic. There were also reports of sexual and gender-based violence in captivity. In addition\, the report criticises the Palestinian Authority for continuing to carry out arbitrary detention and torture or other ill-treatment in the West Bank\, reportedly principally to suppress criticism and political opposition. The High Commissioner reiterated his call for the immediate release of all hostages still held in Gaza. All Palestinians arbitrarily detained by Israel must be released. For many in Gaza\, much or all of the water they have had access to is not suitable for drinking. “If we can’t find drinkable water\, we drink the sea water\,” one father displaced to a school in Rafah told Human Rights Watch in December 2023. “It happened to me many times when I had to drink the sea water. DESCRIPTION:Terwijl de Palestijnen verhongeren\, geeft het Eurovisie Songfestival Israël een internationaal podium\, met een afschuwelijke boodschap: oorlogsmisdaden kun je witwassen met popliedjes. \nRusland werd in 2022 al een dag na de inval in Oekraïne uitgesloten\, dus waarom mag Israël nog meedoen ondanks hun oorlogsmisdaden in Gaza? Sluit je aan bij de oproep om druk te zetten op het songfestival om Israël uit te sluiten zolang ze hun aanvallen op het Palestijnse volk voortzetten. Al maanden komt er geen humanitaire hulp meer binnen in Gaza. Kinderen in Gaza sterven van honger. De Israëlische regering wil heel Gaza bezetten en miljoenen mensen verdrijven. Maar het Eurovisiesongfestival staat klaar om Israël een internationaal podium te geven. Verschillende landen zoals Spanje\, IJsland en Slovenië staan nu op tegen deze hypocrisie — en ook in Nederland klinkt er protest. Artiesten\, omroepen en duizenden mensen wereldwijd laten hun stem horen. We hebben nog enkele dagen om ervoor te zorgen dat ze onze oproep niet kunnen negeren. Sluit je aan bij de oproep om Israël uit te sluiten van het Eurovisiesongfestival zolang ze hun aanvallen voortzetten. Er zijn al 50.000 mensen vermoord in Gaza\, vooral vrouwen en kinderen. De resterende bevolking van Gaza wordt uitgehongerd en dagelijks gebombardeerd. \nEurovisie heeft zijn slogan officieel veranderd in ‘Verenigd door muziek’ en moet nu laten zien dat dit geen holle woorden zijn. De betekenis zou moeten zijn: verenigd tegen alle vormen van geweld en onderdrukking overal\, tegen iedereen. Hoveel Palestijnen zullen er nog sterven door verhongering of bombardementen voordat het liedje van Israël uitkomt? We moeten ervoor zorgen dat het Eurovisiesongfestival Israël een duidelijke boodschap geeft: je kunt niet zomaar oorlogsmisdaden plegen en vervolgens op het podium worden geroepen alsof er niets is gebeurd. Het songfestival trekt miljoenen kijkers — bijna 6% van de wereldbevolking. Deze campagne verzacht misschien niet rechtstreeks het leed in Gaza\, maar als we zwijgen nu Israël het podium betreedt\, geven we het signaal dat oorlogsmisdaden geen gevolgen hebben. Een land dat zulke overtredingen begaat\, zou geen internationaal platform mogen krijgen om zijn imago wit te wassen. DESCRIPTION:The Nakba (Arabic: النكبة\, romanized: an-Nakbah\, ’the “disaster”\, “catastrophe”\, or “cataclysm”‘)\, also known as the Palestinian Catastrophe\, was the destruction of Palestinian society and homeland in 1948\, and the permanent displacement of a majority of the Palestinian Arabs. \nApproaching the 77th anniversary of the Nakba\, the ethnic cleansing and expulsion of most of the Indigenous people of Palestine\, your action is needed now more than ever. For almost 20 years\, the Boycott\, Divestment and Sanctions (BDS) movement has been leading the call for strategic and impactful grassroots solidarity with the Palestinian struggle for justice\, freedom and equality. Since the start of Israel’s livestreamed genocide against the people in Gaza\, BDS pressure to end international complicity in its regime of settler-colonial apartheid and illegal occupation has risen exponentially. We all know that Israel is only able to continue its genocide\, including daily massacres\, burning our children\, men and women alive\, or starving and thirsting them to death\, due to the ongoing complicity of states\, companies and institutions around the world. Israel announced its genocide against Palestinians is about to get even deadlier\, as it prepares for mass ethnic cleansing and total destruction of Gaza. “In our thousands\, in our millions\, we are all Palestinians\,” is a popular slogan of solidarity around the world. Given the ferocity of Israel’s daily massacres and its criminal impunity\, we need to escalate pressure. Corporations and governments are feeling the heat and have cut ties of complicity. BDS works but we need more to force Israel to stop its crimes. So in your thousands\, and in your millions: Rise up and escalate BDS now! The Palestinian BDS National Committee (BNC)\, the largest coalition in Palestinian society that is leading the global BDS movement\, calls for mass global mobilizations and civil disobedience on 15 May. Let’s show complicit governments\, institutions and corporations what real people power can do. \nThe term Nakba is used to describe both the events of 1948 and the ongoing persecution\, displacement\, and occupation of the Palestinians\, both in the occupied West Bank and the Gaza Strip\, as well as in Palestinian refugee camps throughout the region. The foundational events of the Nakba took place during and shortly after the 1948 Palestine war\, including 78% of Mandatory Palestine being declared as Israel\, the expulsion and flight of 700\,000 Palestinians\, the related depopulation and destruction of over 500 Palestinian villages by Zionist militias and subsequent geographical erasure\, the denial of the Palestinian right of return\, the creation of permanent Palestinian refugees and the “shattering of Palestinian society”. The expulsion of the Palestinians has since been described by some historians as ethnic cleansing. In 1998\, Yasser Arafat proposed that Palestinians should mark the 50th anniversary of the Nakba declaring 15 May\, the day after Israeli independence in 1948\, as Nakba Day\, formalizing a date that had been unofficially used as early as 1949.The Nakba greatly influenced the Palestinian culture and is a foundational symbol of Palestinian identity\, together with “Handala“\, the keffiyeh and the symbolic key. Daarmee blokkeren deze coalitiepartijen keer op keer alle concrete acties die Nederland zou moeten nemen om de druk op Israël effectief op te voeren. Er wordt dus doorgegaan met de druk op te voeren en jij kunt daarbij helpen vanachter je laptop. Spreek deze partijen aan op hun Palestina standpunt en eis actie. Woensdag 2 juli 2025 debatteert de Tweede Kamer opnieuw over de situatie in Palestina\, en specifiek over de inzet van Nederland tijdens de EU-vergadering op 15 juli 2025 waar wordt gesproken over EU-maatregelen tegen Israël. Dit is de laatste keer dat de Kamer debatteert voordat het zomerreces voor acht weken ingaat. Uit onderzoek van SOMO blijkt dat Nederland in 2023 ruim 49 miljard euro in Israël heeft geïnvesteerd. Het gaat hierbij om investeringen van bedrijven vanuit Nederland in Israël. Daarmee is Nederland wereldwijd de grootste investeerder in Israël. Dit betekent dat Nederland de Israëlische staatskas spekt\, maar ook dat het de macht heeft om druk uit te oefenen op Israël om de genocide en illegale bezetting te stoppen. Terwijl bijna 2 miljoen Palestijnen in Gaza worden uitgehongerd en dagelijks burgers worden vermoord\, blijft Nederland de Israëlische economie voeden. Door de geldkraan naar Israël dicht te draaien kan Nederland daadwerkelijk levens redden. Nederland heeft als grootste Europese investeerder in Israël een strategische positie om de genocide te stoppen. Israël heeft deze investeringen namelijk hard nodig om de economie van genocide en bezetting draaiend te houden. \nNederland heeft het Genocideverdrag ondertekend en heeft zich daarmee verplicht alles te doen wat in haar macht ligt om genocide te stoppen. De EU weigert nog altijd om een grens te trekken en Israël sancties op te leggen. Daarom moet Nederland nu zélf actie ondernemen. Met het onderzoek van SOMO wordt duidelijk dat Nederland genoeg kan doen en zou moeten doen. De regering moet sancties invoeren tegen Israël en een einde maken aan Nederlandse handel en investeringen die bijdragen aan de Israëlische genocide in Gaza en de illegale bezetting van Palestijns gebied. Naast deze sancties moet Nederland een volledig verbod invoeren op handel die bijdraagt aan het in stand houden van de illegale nederzettingen. Nederland mag niet langer bijdragen aan Israëls economie van genocide en bezetting. Dinsdag 2 december 2025 wordt deze petitie aangeboden in de Tweede Kamer. Ondanks een staakt-het-vuren gaat de genocide in Gaza gewoon door. Ook neemt het geweld van kolonisten tegen Palestijnen op de Westelijke Jordaanoever toe. DESCRIPTION:On Tuesday 15 July 2025\, European Union (EU) foreign ministers are meeting in Brussels to decide whether to impose sanctions on Israel. \nThis is a crucial moment for the EU to draw a red line and stop pumping billions of euros into Israel’s economy\, fuelling genocide and occupation. SOMO’s analysis of trade and foreign investment into and from Israel reveals how deeply intertwined the European and Israeli economies are. Based on this analysis\, SOMO calls for the immediate suspension of the EU-Israel Association Agreement\, along with a full arms embargo\, extensive economic sanctions and corporate accountability. The EU is the largest investor in Israel worldwide\, nearly twice as big as the United States (US). According to the most recent IMF data on foreign investment\, EU member states held €72.1 billion in foreign investment in Israel in 2023\, compared to €39.2 billion for the US. Israel itself has invested €65.9 billion in the EU\, seven times as much as in the US (€8.8 billion). That makes the EU the main destination for Israeli investment. Despite Israel’s ongoing genocide against Palestinians in Gaza and its unlawful occupation across the Occupied Palestinian Territory\, the EU increased exports to Israel by €1 billion\, standing at €25.5 billion in 2023 and €26.7 billion in 2024. The EU is Israel’s largest trading partner\, and its total trade with Israel in 2024\, including imports and exports\, amounted to €42.6 billion. This is significantly more than the US\, whose trade with Israel totalled €31.6 billion in the same year. Of all EU member states\, the Netherlands is by far the largest investor in Israel and is responsible for two-thirds of EU investment in Israel. In fact\, no other country worldwide has more investments in Israel. With €50 billion in investment held by Dutch companies in 2023\, the Netherlands even tops the US. SUMMARY:Tweeminutendebat plus stemmingen over de situatie in Gaza
DESCRIPTION:De Tweede Kamer komt op donderdag 21 augustus 2025 terug van het zomerreces\, tijdens een regeling van werkzaamheden zal Kamerlid Sarah Dobbe (SP) verzoeken om een tweeminutendebat plus stemmingen te houden over de situatie in Gaza. \nMet een tweeminutendebat kan het commissiedebat (CD) over hetzelfde onderwerp van 7 augustus worden afgerond. De regeling van werkzaamheden\, waarin de Kamer haar agenda bepaalt\, wordt gehouden op verzoek van 38 Kamerleden. Tijdens die regeling kan de Kamer besluiten om het tweeminutendebat te houden. Ook kan zij besluiten tot stemmingen na het tweeminutendebat over eventueel ingediende moties. Een tweeminutendebat is een kort debat waarbij iedere politieke partij twee minuten spreektijd krijgt. Zo’n kort debat wordt gebruikt om een onderwerp plenair af te ronden.
