DESCRIPTION:In 2014\, the United Nations General Assembly declared 15 July as World Youth Skills Day\, to celebrate the strategic importance of equipping young people with skills for employment\, decent work and entrepreneurship. \nThe world of work is changing rapidly. Artificial intelligence\, the green transition and growing social complexity are transforming how we learn\, work and participate in society. To thrive in this changing landscape\, young people need more than technical skills alone. They need a balanced set of competencies that combines technical\, digital\, AI\, green\, social-emotional and civic skills with the human qualities that technology cannot replace. Under the theme “Skills for a shared future”\,  this year’s World Youth Skills Day activities will spotlight the urgent need for innovative youth skills programmes—initiatives that empower young people not only to adapt\, but to lead with empathy\, bridge cultural divides\, build resilience\, and actively shape a more sustainable and inclusive tomorrow. Youth unemployment remains a major economic and social challenge worldwide. According to the ILO’s Global Employment Trends for Youth 2024\, the global youth unemployment rate fell to 13% in 2023 – a 15-year low and below the pre-pandemic level of 13.8%. However\, recovery has been uneven: in the Arab States\, East Asia\, and South-East Asia\, rates were higher in 2023 than in 2019. Meanwhile\, one in five young people globally – and over a quarter of young women – were NEET (not in employment\, education\, or training)\, with young women’s NEET rate (28.1%) more than double that of young men (13.1%). Even for those who work\, decent jobs remain scarce. Over half of young workers are in informal employment\, and in low-income countries\, three in four hold only self-employment or temporary jobs. Investment in green and blue sectors could create 8.4 million youth jobs by 2030\, but these must come with decent working conditions – including fundamental rights like equal pay\, collective bargaining\, and protection from harassment. \nEducation and training are central to the achievement of the 2030 Agenda. The vision of the Incheon Declaration: Education 2030 is fully captured by Sustainable Development Goal 4 “Ensure inclusive and equitable quality education and promote lifelong learning opportunities for all”. Education 2030 devotes considerable attention to technical and vocational skills development\, specifically regarding access to affordable quality Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET); the acquisition of technical and vocational skills for employment\, decent work and entrepreneurship; the elimination of gender disparity and ensuring access for the vulnerable. In this context\, TVET is expected to address the multiple demands of an economic\, social and environmental nature by helping youth and adults develop the skills they need for employment\, decent work and entrepreneurship\, promoting equitable\, inclusive and sustainable economic growth\, and supporting transitions to green economies and environmental sustainability. TVET can equip youth with the skills required to access the world of work\, including skills for self-employment. TVET can also improve responsiveness to changing skill-demands by companies and communities\, increase productivity and increase wage levels. TVET can reduce access barriers to the world of work\, for example through work-based learning\, and ensuring that skills gained are recognised and certified. DESCRIPTION:Klik op afbeelding om te lezen\nThe World Day Against Child Labour\, which is held every year on June 12\, is an International Labour Organization (ILO)-sanctioned holiday first launched in 2002 aiming to raise awareness and activism to prevent child labour\, it was spurred by ratifications of ILO Convention No. 138 on the minimum age for employment and ILO Convention No. 182 on the worst forms of child labour. \nThe ILO\, the United Nations body that regulates the world of work\, launched the World Day Against Child Labour in 2002 in order to bring attention and join efforts to fight against child labour. This day brings together governments\, local authorities\, civil society and international\, workers and employers organizations to point out the child labour problem and define the guidelines to help child labourers. According to ILO’s data\, hundreds of millions of girls and boys throughout the world are involved in work that deprives them of receiving an adequate education\, health\, leisure and basic freedoms\, violating this way their rights. Of these children\, more than half are exposed to the worst forms of child labour. These worst forms of child labour include work in hazardous environments\, slavery\, or other forms of forced labour\, illicit activities such as drug trafficking and prostitution\, as well as involvement in armed conflict. \n2026 Theme: Red card to child labour: Fair play for children\, decent work for adults. The 2026 World Day comes at a decisive moment. The 6th Global Conference on the Elimination of Child Labour\, held in Marrakech\, reaffirmed the urgent need to accelerate action and translate commitments into concrete results. The Marrakech Global Framework for Action against Child Labour provides a concrete roadmap and indicators for tackling child labour through integrated responses that address root causes and protect every child’s rights. Under the slogan “Red card to child labour: Fair play for children\, decent work for adults”\, the 2026 World Day Against Child Labour campaign calls for reinforced action on the policies that prevent child labour and withdrawn children from it:  quality education\, universal social protection\, decent work and adequate livelihoods for adults\, stronger laws and enforcement\, better data and monitoring systems\, and responsible action in agriculture and supply chains. This action is urgently needed. Despite progress\, 138 million children remain in child labour worldwide\, including nearly 54 million in hazardous work. On this World Day Against Child Labour\, raise the Red card to child labour. DESCRIPTION:Fisheries provide a vital source of food\, employment\, recreation\, trade and economic well-being for people throughout the world. \nIn 2015\, the General Fisheries Commission for the Mediterranean of the FAO proposed that an initiative be launched to declare an International Day for the Fight against Illegal\, Unreported and Unregulated Fishing. Following extensive consultations\, a proposal was submitted to the attention of the thirty-second session of FAO Committee on Fisheries. The Committee on Fisheries endorsed the proposal for the declaration of 5 June as the International Day for the Fight against Illegal\, Unreported and Unregulated Fishing. The date reflects the day when the Port State Measures Agreement officially entered into force as an international treaty. The entry into force of this agreement marks an historical event\, as it is the first international legally-binding instrument specifically devoted to the fight against illegal\, unreported and unregulated fishing. The proposed draft resolution was submitted to the 40th Session of the FAO Conference (July 2017) for approval. In December 2017 the UN General Assembly in its annual resolution on sustainable fisheries proclaimed 5 June as the “International Day for the Fight Against Illegal\, Unreported and Unregulated Fishing.” In a world of growing population and persistent hunger\, fish has emerged as an important commodity for the achievement of food security. However\, efforts by the international community to ensure the sustainability of fisheries are being seriously compromised by illegal\, unreported and unregulated (IUU) fishing activities. According to the UN Food and Agriculture Organization’s (FAO) recent report\, “Review of the State of World Marine Fishery Resources – 2025\,” over a third of fish stocks are being overexploited. IUU fishing catches millions of tonnes of fish every year. To curtail this\, Target 4 of Goal 14 of the Sustainable Development Agenda adopted in 2015 by the UN General Assembly\, specifically urged the international community to “effectively regulate harvesting and end overfishing\, illegal\, unreported and unregulated fishing and destructive fishing practices” by 2020. Meeting this ambitious target requires strong awareness-raising efforts to draw the attention of the general public to the negative impacts of illegal\, unreported and unregulated fishing activities\, an activity in which FAO has been actively engaged. \nLinks:\nDay for the Fight against Illegal\, Unreported and Unregulated Fishing

SUMMARY:Renewing Injustice? - publication
DESCRIPTION:Clean energy technologies such as solar panels\, wind turbines\, batteries\, energy grids and electric vehicles (EVs) are important for the shift to fossilfree renewable energy. \nSuch technologies rely on so-called ‘transition minerals’\, like lithium and nickel\, the extraction of which is accelerating rapidly worldwide. Many transition minerals are being mined in the Global South\, often in the territories of Indigenous and rural peoples. In Argentina\, Indonesia\, Brazil and South Africa\, among other countries\, cases of transition mineral mining and processing resemble the worst injustices of the fossil fuel era\, with evidence of human rights abuses\, and social and environmental harms. The report ‘Renewing Injustice?‘ examines the role of 23 Dutch companies and 7 Dutch financiers in transition mineral supply chains by mapping their links to mining in the Global South\, specifically the four cases above. By connecting supply chains and financial flows with their human rights\, social and environmental impacts in  transition mining communities\, we aim to increase transparency and show how companies and financiers avoid accountability. This research reveals that Dutch companies and financiers are actively involved in global mineral supply chains. They can be linked to human rights\, social and environmental abuses in their value chains\, and are failing to abide by international standards of business and human rights. The need to transition to renewable energy and low carbon economies is as important as the need to create a more inclusive and equitable world\, now and for the future. The authors call on policymakers\, companies\, and financiers to change course to prevent repeating the injustices of the past. SUMMARY:Whores' Day / Sex Workers' Day 2026
DESCRIPTION:International Whores’ Day / International Sex Workers’ Day\, observed annually on June 2\, honours sex workers and recognises the often exploitative nature of their working conditions. \nThe date commemorates the occupation of Église Saint-Nizier in Lyon by more than a hundred sex workers on June 2\, 1975 to draw attention to their inhumane working conditions. It has been celebrated annually since 1976. In German\, it is known as Hurentag (Whore’s Day) and in Spanish-speaking countries\, it is entitled the Día Internacional de la Trabajadora Sexual (the International Day of the Sex Worker). In the 1970s\, French police put sex workers under increasing pressure. The police repression forced them to work increasingly in secret. As a result\, they had less protection and there was more violence against sex workers. After two murders and the unwillingness of the government to improve the situation\, sex workers in Lyon occupied the Saint-Nizier Church and went on strike. The striking workers sang political chants and demanded decent working conditions and an end to social stigma. The police cleared the church after eight days. The event marks the starting point of an international movement of sex workers for sex workers’ rights. \nLinks:\n2 of June is International Sex Workers’ Day \nJune 2nd International Sex Workers Day

DESCRIPTION:Once a year\, the International Labour Organization (ILO) – a United Nations (UN) agency whose mandate is to advance social and economic justice by setting international labour standards – organizes the International Labour Conference (ILC) in Geneva to set the broad policies of the ILO\, including conventions and recommendations. \nAlso known as the “international parliament of labour”\, the conference makes decisions about the ILO’s general policy\, work programme and budget and also elects the Governing Body. Each member state is represented by a delegation composed of two government delegates\, an employer delegate\, a worker delegate. All of them have individual voting rights and all votes are equal\, regardless of the population of the delegate’s member State. The employer and worker delegates are normally chosen in agreement with the most representative national organizations of employers and workers. Usually\, the workers and employers’ delegates coordinate their voting. All delegates have the same rights and are not required to vote in blocs. Delegates can attend with advisers and substitute delegates\, and all have the same rights: they can express themselves freely and vote as they wish. Heads of State and prime ministers also participate in the Conference. International organizations\, both governmental and others\, also attend but as observers. In June 2026\, Government\, Employer and Worker representatives from the 187 ILO Member States will gather at the International Labour Conference to discuss world of work issues such as decent work in the platform economy\, a transformative agenda for gender equality at work and social dialogue and tripartism. \nLinks:\n114th Session of the International Labour Conference

DESCRIPTION:World Day for Safety and Health at Work is a UN international day that is celebrated every April 28\, it is concerned about safe work and awareness of the dimensions and consequences of work-related accidents and diseases; to place occupational safety and health (OSH) on the international and national agendas; and to provide support to the national efforts for the improvement of national OSH systems and programmes in line with relevant international labor standards. \nIt coincides with Workers’ Memorial Day and the Canadian National Day of Mourning. World Day for Safety and Health at Work was first celebrated by the International Labour Organization in 2003. Workers’ Memorial Day (IWMD)\, also known as International Workers’ Memorial Day or International Commemoration Day for Dead and Injured\, takes place annually around the world on April 28\, an international day of remembrance and action for workers killed\, disabled\, injured\, or made unwell by their work. IWMD is an opportunity to highlight the preventable nature of most workplace incidents and ill health and to promote campaigns and union organization in the fight for improvements in workplace safety. The slogan for the day is Remember the dead – Fight for the living. Although April 28 is used as the focal point for remembrance and a day of international solidarity\, campaigning and other related activities continue throughout the year right around the world. DESCRIPTION:Schone Kleren Campagne (SKC) start samen met vier consumenten een rechtszaak tegen kledingmerk Levi Strauss (Levi’s). \nDe zaak draait om vermeende misleidende duurzaamheidsclaims en ernstige arbeidsrechtenschendingen in een fabriek in Turkije waar Levi’s produceert. Meer dan 400 arbeiders verloren daar hun baan nadat zij staakten voor betere arbeidsomstandigheden en zich aansloten bij een vakbond. Levi’s herhaalde jarenlang de belofte dat het de rechten van arbeiders in haar productieketen beschermt. Maar in werkelijkheid worden arbeiders die jeans voor Levi’s maken geconfronteerd met ontslag\, intimidatie en geweld wanneer zij opkomen voor hun rechten. In 2023 kwamen honderden arbeiders in een fabriek in het zuidoosten van Turkije in staking vanwege slechte arbeidsomstandigheden en schending van hun vakbondsrechten. Wat volgde was een harde escalatie: ontslagen\, intimidatie en politiegeweld. Levi’s wist hiervan — maar hulp aan de getroffen arbeiders bleef uit. DESCRIPTION:De gezamenlijke vakbonden slaan de handen ineen en roepen op tot een gezamenlijke\, landelijke staking op dinsdag 14 april 2026. \nDoor heel Nederland leggen rijksambtenaren 24 uur lang het werk neer. De staking wordt georganiseerd door vakbonden FNV\, CNV\, AC Rijksvakbonden en CMHF Overheid. Tijdens de stakingsdag worden bijeenkomsten georganiseerd in Amsterdam\, Apeldoorn\, Groningen\, Maastricht\, Utrecht en Rotterdam. De staking is een verdere escalatie in het protest tegen de zogeheten nullijn: het loondictaat van de rijksoverheid waardoor rijksambtenaren dit jaar geen salarisverhoging en geen inflatiecorrectie krijgen. Daardoor gaan de ruim 160.000 medewerkers van het Rijk er in koopkracht op achteruit. De minister van Binnenlandse Zaken wil niet verder in gesprek met de vakbonden. Dat is onbegrijpelijk. Hij verschuilt zich achter de politiek opgelegde nullijn\, terwijl politieke inmenging in cao-onderhandelingen niet is toegestaan. Toch gebeurt dit. Na acties bij de verschillende departementen en uitvoeringsorganisaties en in Den Haag op 3 maart 2026 is het nu tijd voor opnieuw landelijke acties in alle regio’s in het land voor erkenning\, waardering en een eerlijke beloning voor alle rijksambtenaren. De gezamenlijke vakbonden slaan daarbij de handen ineen. De gevolgen van de staking op 14 april zijn divers. Zo legt dit keer ook de Rijksschoonmaakorganisatie (RSO) het werk neer. De RSO staakt zelfs langer dan 24 uur: zij leggen van 14 tot en met 16 april het werk neer. Dat kan betekenen dat gebouwen van het Rijk\, waaronder ministeries en de Tweede Kamer\, drie dagen lang niet\, nauwelijks of slechts gedeeltelijk worden schoongemaakt. Daarnaast zijn de Belastingtelefoon en DUO waarschijnlijk opnieuw minder goed bereikbaar doordat callcentermedewerkers staken. A series of lessons are available by country with the United Nations and other programs. Oxfam’s food for thought power point which shows students the global food system that then has the opportunity for students to share their thoughts and experiences. The lesson plans and collections available are for students of all ages. \nThe ILO unanimously adopted the ILO Declaration on Social Justice for a Fair Globalization on 10 June 2008. This is the third major statement of principles and policies adopted by the International Labour Conference since the ILO’s Constitution of 1919. It builds on the Philadelphia Declaration of 1944 and the Declaration on Fundamental Principles and Rights at Work of 1998. The 2008 Declaration expresses the contemporary vision of the ILO’s mandate in the era of globalization. This landmark Declaration is a powerful reaffirmation of ILO values. It is the outcome of tripartite consultations that started in the wake of the Report of the World Commission on the Social Dimension of Globalization. By adopting this text\, the representatives of governments\, employers’ and workers’ organizations from 182 member States emphasize the key role of our tripartite Organization in helping to achieve progress and social justice in the context of globalization. DESCRIPTION:Jaarlijks wordt op 17 december de Internationale Dag Stop Geweld Tegen Sekswerkers (Day to End Violence Against Sex Workers) georganiseerd\, deze dag werd in 2003 voor het eerst erkend als herdenkingsdag om de slachtoffers van de Green River Killer in Seattle (Washington) en andere vermoordde prostituees te herdenken. \nEr werd gekozen voor 17 december omdat op die dag in 2003 de Green River Killer werd veroordeeld. Op deze dag worden alle sekswerkers slachtoffers van 2019 wereldwijd herdacht en komen mensen uit steden over de hele wereld samen om te strijden voor de rechten van alle sekswerkers! \nGreen River Killer:\nDe Green River Killer (Gary Leon Ridgway) had minimaal 48 vrouwen in de staat Washington vermoord voordat hij werd opgepakt in 2001. Uit het politieonderzoek bleek dat hij in 1982 is begonnen met het vermoorden van vrouwen. Door een DNA-test voor een ander onderzoek liep hij uiteindelijk in 2001 tegen de lamp. Ridgway vertelde de politie dat hij langs Route 99 in South King County (Washington) 75 tot 80 vrouwen heeft vermoord. Dat waren hoofdzakelijk prostituees en meisjes die van huis waren weggelopen. Uiteindelijk pleit Ridgway schuldig aan 48 moorden. Hij werd veroordeeld en kreeg meerdere keren levenslang. \nStop het Geweld Tegen Sekswerkers:\nZoals je vaak ziet richt geweld zich tot bepaalde groepen mensen\, dat geldt ook voor het geweld tegen sekswerkers. Het zijn de transvrouwen en gekleurde vrouwen\, de druggebruikers en immigranten die het vaakst te maken krijgen met (grof) geweld. Wil je het geweld tegen sekswerkers beëindigen dan zal je eerst transfobie\, racisme\, stigmatisering en criminalisering van drugsgebruik en ook vreemdelingenhaat moeten bestrijden. Er is nog een lange weg te gaan… \nRed Umbrella Day:\nHet symbool van de Internationale beweging van sekswerkers is de rode paraplu. De eerste keer dat men naar de rode paraplu greep was in het jaar 2001 op 2 juni\, de International Whore’s Day (IWD). Italiaanse sekswerkers gingen de Venetiaanse straten op om te protesteren tegen inhumane werkomstandigheden en mensenrechtenschendingen. Omdat het pijpenstelen regende waren paraplu’s nodig en dan ligt de kleur rood voor de hand. Uiteindelijk heeft in 2005 het Internationaal comité voor de rechten van sekswerkers in Europa (IRCSE) de rode paraplu als officieel symbool van weerstand tegen discriminatie aangenomen. In China heeft de rode paraplu ook een speciale betekenis\, daar is het een belangrijk gelukssymbool. Participants have highlighted the ever-increasing significance of skills as the world is embarking on a transition towards a sustainable model of development. Education and training are central to the achievement of the 2030 Agenda. The vision of the Incheon Declaration: Education 2030 is fully captured by Sustainable Development Goal 4 “Ensure inclusive and equitable quality education and promote lifelong learning opportunities for all”. Education 2030 devotes considerable attention to technical and vocational skills development\, specifically regarding access to affordable quality. \nTechnical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET); the acquisition of technical and vocational skills for employment\, decent work and entrepreneurship; the elimination of gender disparity and ensuring access for the vulnerable. In this context\, TVET is expected to address the multiple demands of an economic\, social and environmental nature by helping youth and adults develop the skills they need for employment\, decent work and entrepreneurship\, promoting equitable\, inclusive and sustainable economic growth\, and supporting transitions to green economies and environmental sustainability. \nTVET can equip youth with the skills required to access the world of work\, including skills for self-employment. TVET can also improve responsiveness to changing skill-demands by companies and communities\, increase productivity and increase wage levels. TVET can reduce access barriers to the world of work\, for example through work-based learning\, and ensuring that skills gained are recognised and certified. TVET can also offer skills development opportunities for low-skilled people who are under- or unemployed\, out of school youth and individuals not in education\, employment and training (NEETs). World Youth Skills Day 2021 will again take place in a challenging context due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. Een hoopvol alternatief is de werknemerscoöperatie: een model waarin werknemers niet alleen medewerkers\, maar ook mede-eigenaren zijn\, met zeggenschap over beleid en winstverdeling. Dit is geen naïeve fictie: het Spaanse Mondragón\, met 70.000 werknemers en een omzet van 10 miljard euro\, bewijst dat dit internationaal kan werken. Maar in Nederland blijven deze coöperaties zeldzaam. Hoeveel potentie heeft dit model hier? En is het haalbaar in een economie gericht op groei en competitie? SUMMARY:Landelijke apotheekstaking
DESCRIPTION:Op donderdag 9 en vrijdag 10 januari 2025 gaan medewerkers van apotheken uit heel Nederland opnieuw staken. \nOndanks maanden van acties en protesten zijn er namelijk nog steeds geen afspraken gemaakt over hogere lonen en lagere werkdruk in de apotheken. Daarom gaat het personeel door met actievoeren. Bijna tweeduizend openbare apotheken door heel Nederland zijn twee dagen dicht. In de apotheekbranche wordt al sinds september vorig jaar actie gevoerd. Ondanks maanden van stakingen zijn vakbonden en werkgevers geen stap nader tot elkaar gekomen. De werkgevers willen nog steeds niet verder gaan dan een broodmagere loonsverhoging van 2%. FNV en CNV eisen een loonsverhoging van 6% met terugwerkende kracht vanaf 1 juli 2024\, plus een eindejaarsuitkering van 2%. In 2025 moet het loon bovendien met een soortgelijk percentage stijgen. Daarnaast willen de bonden dat alle gewerkte uren worden uitbetaald. Dat betekent dat ook korte voorbereidingsmomenten\, zoals een kwartiertje voor opening\, betaald moeten worden. In december 2024 verbood de rechter een staking van de apotheekmedewerkers. Die actie rond de kerstperiode zou drie dagen duren. Tijdens de landelijke staking blijft spoedzorg gegarandeerd. Dat betekent dat patiënten in noodgevallen altijd medicijnen kunnen krijgen\, maar daar mogelijk wel voor naar een andere apotheek moeten. DESCRIPTION:Jaarlijks wordt op 17 december de Internationale Dag Stop Geweld Tegen Sekswerkers (Day to End Violence Against Sex Workers) georganiseerd\, deze dag werd in 2003 voor het eerst erkend als herdenkingsdag om de slachtoffers van de Green River Killer in Seattle (Washington) en andere vermoordde prostituees te herdenken. \nEr werd gekozen voor 17 december omdat op die dag in 2003 de Green River Killer werd veroordeeld. Op deze dag worden alle sekswerkers slachtoffers van 2019 wereldwijd herdacht en komen mensen uit steden over de hele wereld samen om te strijden voor de rechten van alle sekswerkers! \nGreen River Killer:\nDe Green River Killer (Gary Leon Ridgway) had minimaal 48 vrouwen in de staat Washington vermoord voordat hij werd opgepakt in 2001. Uit het politieonderzoek bleek dat hij in 1982 is begonnen met het vermoorden van vrouwen. Door een DNA-test voor een ander onderzoek liep hij uiteindelijk in 2001 tegen de lamp. Ridgway vertelde de politie dat hij langs Route 99 in South King County (Washington) 75 tot 80 vrouwen heeft vermoord. Dat waren hoofdzakelijk prostituees en meisjes die van huis waren weggelopen. Uiteindelijk pleit Ridgway schuldig aan 48 moorden. Hij werd veroordeeld en kreeg meerdere keren levenslang. \nStop het Geweld Tegen Sekswerkers:\nZoals je vaak ziet richt geweld zich tot bepaalde groepen mensen\, dat geldt ook voor het geweld tegen sekswerkers. Het zijn de transvrouwen en gekleurde vrouwen\, de druggebruikers en immigranten die het vaakst te maken krijgen met (grof) geweld. Wil je het geweld tegen sekswerkers beëindigen dan zal je eerst transfobie\, racisme\, stigmatisering en criminalisering van drugsgebruik en ook vreemdelingenhaat moeten bestrijden. Er is nog een lange weg te gaan… \nRed Umbrella Day:\nHet symbool van de Internationale beweging van sekswerkers is de rode paraplu. De eerste keer dat men naar de rode paraplu greep was in het jaar 2001 op 2 juni\, de International Whore’s Day (IWD). Italiaanse sekswerkers gingen de Venetiaanse straten op om te protesteren tegen inhumane werkomstandigheden en mensenrechtenschendingen. Omdat het pijpenstelen regende waren paraplu’s nodig en dan ligt de kleur rood voor de hand. Uiteindelijk heeft in 2005 het Internationaal comité voor de rechten van sekswerkers in Europa (IRCSE) de rode paraplu als officieel symbool van weerstand tegen discriminatie aangenomen. In China heeft de rode paraplu ook een speciale betekenis\, daar is het een belangrijk gelukssymbool. DESCRIPTION:De huidige cao Gemeenten/SGO loopt 31 maart 2025 af\, de gezamenlijke vakbonden blijven op het standpunt staan dat onderhandelen zonder een loonbod van de werkgever een onmogelijke zaak is. \nOp maandagmiddag 16 december 2024 stond de vierde onderhandelingsronde voor de cao Gemeenten/SGO gepland. De werkgever Vereniging van Nederlandse Gemeenten (VNG) heeft de bonden echter laten weten wéér niet met een loonbod te komen én heeft bovendien het overleg van 16 december afgezegd. Dit is al de tweede keer dat de VNG de stekker uit de geplande gesprekken trekt. Het is onacceptabel en getuigt van gebrek aan respect naar alle werknemers. De bonden slaan alarm en roepen namens alle werknemers de VNG op om snel met een fatsoenlijk loonbod te komen\, zodat we de onderhandelingen eindelijk op een normale manier kunnen starten. Op 24 januari 2025 staat de volgende cao-onderhandelingsronde met de VNG gepland. It even boosted productivity and efficiency in the workplace. Japan is known for its very hardworking culture. I mean\, they even have a term for literally working oneself to death – karoshi 🤯 The government wants to change that. It has launched a new campaign promoting flexible work hours arrangements\, shorter work time\, as well as overtime limits. While changing habits can be challenging in such a tough work culture\, it could bring many benefits. But first\, employers and employees need to open up to this change. In 2022\, Panasonic\, one of Japan’s largest companies\, introduced a four-day workweek option\, yet only about 150 out of 63\,000 employees decided to participate. If Japan is becoming more serious about a 4-day work week\, so should Europe. DESCRIPTION:October 7\, is the World Day for Decent Work\, during that day trade unions\, union federations and other workers associations develop their actions to promote the idea of Decent Work. \nActions vary from street demonstrations to music events or conferences held in many countries. The United Nations Economic and Social Council has given a General Comment that defines “decent work” and requires satisfaction of Article 7 of the International Covenant on Economic\, Social and Cultural Rights: decent work is employment that “respects the fundamental rights of the human person as well as the rights of workers in terms of conditions of work safety and remuneration. … respect for the physical and mental integrity of the worker in the exercise of his/her employment. According to the International Labour Organization (ILO)\, decent work involves opportunities for work that are productive and deliver a fair income\, security in the workplace and social protection for families\, better prospects for personal development and social integration\, freedom for people to express their concerns\, organize and participate in the decisions that affect their lives and equality of opportunity and treatment for all women and men. The ILO is developing an agenda for the community of work\, represented by its tripartite constituents\, to mobilize their considerable resources to create those opportunities and to help reduce and eradicate poverty. The ILO Decent Work Agenda is the balanced and integrated programmatic approach to pursue the objectives of full and productive employment and decent work for all at global\, regional\, national\, sectoral and local levels.
