The Global Fund’s Eighth Replenishment is critical to keep the world on track toward ending these deadly diseases. The Global Fund to Fight AIDS\, Tuberculosis and Malaria (the Global Fund) released its annual Results Report\, revealing an extraordinary milestone: 70 million lives saved since the Global Fund’s inception in 2002. In less than a quarter century\, the Global Fund partnership – driven by country leadership\, affected communities and front-line health workers – has slashed the combined death rate from AIDS\, tuberculosis (TB) and malaria by 63% and cut the combined incidence rate by 42%. The report demonstrates the high return on investment of the Global Fund partnership\, and highlights the continued progress achieved in the fight against the three diseases\, with a record number of people on antiretroviral therapy for HIV\, a record number of people with TB receiving treatment\, and the continued scale-up of malaria prevention efforts. \nLinks:\nGlobal Fund Results Report 2025

DESCRIPTION:Each year\, the World Health Organization (WHO) commemorates World Tuberculosis (TB) Day on March 24 to raise public awareness about the devastating health\, social and economic consequences of TB\, and to step up efforts to end the global TB epidemic. \nThe date marks the day in 1882 when Dr Robert Koch announced that he had discovered the bacterium that causes TB\, which opened the way towards diagnosing and curing this disease. TB remains the world’s deadliest infectious killer. Each day\, over 4000 people lose their lives to TB and close to 30\,000 people fall ill with this preventable and curable disease. Global efforts to combat TB have saved an estimated 63 million lives since the year 2000. 2026 theme\, ‘Yes! We can end TB!’ –  is a bold call to action and a message of hope\, affirming that it is possible to get back on track and turn the tide on the TB epidemic\, even in a challenging global environment.
