DESCRIPTION:Head and neck cancer is a group of cancers that starts in the mouth\, nose\, throat\, larynx\, sinuses\, or salivary glands. \nSymptoms for head and neck cancer may include a lump or sore that does not heal\, a sore throat that does not go away\, trouble swallowing\, or a change in the voice; there may also be unusual bleeding\, facial swelling\, or trouble breathing. About 75% of head and neck cancer is caused by the use of alcohol or tobacco. Other risk factors include betel quid\, certain types of human papillomavirus\, radiation exposure\, certain workplace exposures\, and Epstein-Barr virus. Head and neck cancers are most commonly of the squamous cell carcinoma type. The diagnosis is confirmed by tissue biopsy. The degree of spread may be determined by medical imaging and blood tests. Not using tobacco or alcohol can reduce the risk for head and neck cancer. While screening in the general population does not appear to be useful\, screening high risk groups by examination of the throat might be useful. \nHead and neck cancer often is curable if it is diagnosed early; however\, outcomes are typically poor if it is diagnosed late. Treatment may include a combination of surgery\, radiation therapy\, chemotherapy\, and targeted therapy. Following treatment of one head and neck cancer\, people are at higher risk of having a second cancer. In 2015\, head and neck cancers globally affected more than 5.5 million people (2.4 million mouth\, 1.7 million throat\, and 1.4 million larynx cancer)\, and it has caused over 379\,000 deaths (146\,000 mouth\, 127\,400 throat\, 105\,900 larynx cancer). Together\, they are the seventh most-frequent cancer and the ninth most-frequent cause of death from cancer. In the United States\, about 1% of people are affected at some point in their life\, and males are affected twice as often as females. The usual age at diagnosis is between 55 and 65 years old. DESCRIPTION:The Week of Deaf People / Week of the Deaf has been celebrated annually across the world during the last full week of September to recognise that deaf people have our own communities\, our own cultures\, our own languages\, sign languages\, which unite them all. \nThe United Nations (UN) General Assembly has proclaimed 23 September as the International Day of Sign Languages in order to raise awareness of the importance of sign language in the full realization of the human rights of people who are deaf. The resolution A/RES/72/161 establishing the day acknowledges that early access to sign language and services in sign language\, including quality education available in sign language\, is vital to the growth and development of the deaf individual and critical to the achievement of the internationally agreed development goals. It recognizes the importance of preserving sign languages as part of linguistic and cultural diversity. It also emphasizes the principle of “nothing about us without us” in terms of working with deaf communities. In 2018\, it was celebrated together with the official International Day of Sign Languages\, declared by the United Nations (UN)\, for the first time. The World Federation of the Deaf (WFD)\, its national associations\, and their affiliates all over the world observe International Week of the Deaf from Monday through Sunday\, culminating in International Day of the Deaf on the final Sunday of the week. In order to commemorate International Week of the Deaf\, the WFD invites its national associations and their affiliates to center their celebrations on the theme of Human Rights through Sign Languages. With this emphasis\, deaf culture and the accomplishments of deaf people are highlighted more and are positively portrayed. DESCRIPTION:De Week van de Toegankelijkheid is een initiatief van Ieder(in)\, koepelorganisatie en landelijk netwerk van mensen met een beperking of chronische ziekte; bij Ieder(in) zijn 230 organisaties van mensen met een beperking of chronische ziekte aangesloten. \nIn 2026 wordt extra aandacht voor toegankelijke zorg. Wat is er nodig om goede zorg te ontvangen als je in een rolstoel zit\, slechtziend of doof bent\, gevoelig bent voor prikkels of een energiebeperking hebt? Iedere patiënt is anders. Bij het organiseren van zorg moet je daar rekening mee houden. Vaak zijn kleine aanpassingen al voldoende. Van een zorginstelling zonder fysieke drempels tot digitale zorgtoepassingen die voor iedereen bruikbaar zijn tot informatie over zorg die ook toegankelijk is voor mensen met een beperking. Hoe zorg jij ervoor dat iedereen de zorg krijgt die hij of zij nodig heeft in jouw praktijk\, ziekenhuis of zorginstelling? DESCRIPTION:3FM Serious Request (vaak verkort tot Serious Request) is een geldinzamelingsactie die sinds 2004 jaarlijks georganiseerd wordt in de week voor kerst door de Nederlandse radiozender NPO 3FM. \n\n3FM Serious Request komt dit jaar in actie voor De Nederlandse Brandwonden Stichting. Dat hebben 3FM-dj’s Barend van Deelen\, Sophie Hijlkema en Mart Meijer net bekendgemaakt in een speciale ochtendshow. Vanaf De Markt in ’s-Hertogenbosch\, waar het Glazen Huis vorig jaar stond\, vertrekken ze in een gigantische 3FM-bus\, onderweg naar de nieuwe stad: Arnhem.
