Het totaalbedrag? 10\,8 miljard euro. Dat zou de grootste subsidie worden die Nederland ooit aan 1 bedrijf heeft uitgegeven. Zo betaalt de overheid niet alleen voor de 2 miljard euro maatwerksubsidie zelf\, maar ook voor het opvangen van CO₂ onder de zeebodem. DESCRIPTION:Berekeningen van de Inspectie Leefomgeving en Transport (ILT) laten zien dat jaarlijks ten minste 21.000 kilo trifluorazijnzuur (TFA\, een kleine PFAS) vrijkomt door het gebruik van PFAS-pesticiden. \nHiermee zijn gewasbeschermingsmiddelen een van de grootste bekende bronnen van TFA-verspreiding in Nederland. TFA breekt niet af in het milieu. Het spoelt uit en verplaatst zich makkelijk. Daardoor vormt het een steeds groter risico voor grondwater\, oppervlaktewater en drinkwater. En voor de bodem en de gewassen die daarop geteeld worden\, waardoor mensen steeds meer PFAS binnenkrijgen. DESCRIPTION:Five years after changing from opt-in to opt-out consent systems in England and the Netherlands\, the report ‘Five years after introduction of an opt-out consent system for organ donation; lessons learned from England and the Netherlands‘ shows the results of the examination of the impact on donor registrations\, consent rates\, donor numbers\, and reflect on lessons learned. \nOpt-out legislation was implemented in May 2020 in England and July 2020 in the Netherlands. In England\, 44% of the population is now registered; 40% recording an opt-in decision and 4% an opt-out decision. In the Netherlands\, mandated donor registration resulted in the entire adult population having their decision recorded: “Yes\, I want to be a donor” (34%)\, “No objection” (24%)\, or “No\, I don’t want to be a donor” (31%)\, while 11% leave the “Decision to next of kin”. Despite these structural changes\, the consent categories created by opt-out legislation (“deemed” consent in England and “No objection” in the Netherlands) remain challenging in practice\, with fewer than 50% of families agreeing to donation. In England\, the family consent rate declined from 69% to 57% between 2020 and 2025 and the donor numbers remain below pre-pandemic levels. In contrast\, the Netherlands experienced a modest increase in family consent rates and donor numbers compared to the opt-in consent system. DESCRIPTION:Nederlanders tussen de 18 en 50 jaar hebben op 17 september 2026 al net zoveel zout gegeten als eigenlijk voor een heel jaar goed voor ze is. \nZe eten gemiddeld 7\,2 gram zout per dag\, terwijl de Wereldgezondheidsorganisatie (WHO) maximaal 5 gram per dag adviseert. Zout is belangrijk voor je lichaam\, maar te veel ervan kan leiden tot hoge bloeddruk\, hart- en vaatziekten\, nierschade\, maagkanker en botproblemen. Het grootste deel van dat zout (85%) zit al in bewerkte producten\, zoals brood\, soep\, sauzen en kant-en-klaarmaaltijden. Slechts een klein deel voegen mensen zelf toe tijdens het koken of aan tafel. Omdat te veel zout ook het risico op nierschade vergroot\, trekken foodwatch en de Nierstichting dit jaar samen aan de bel. DESCRIPTION:Patient safety is a discipline that emphasizes safety in health care through the prevention\, reduction\, reporting\, and analysis of medical error that often leads to adverse effects. \nThe frequency and magnitude of avoidable adverse events experienced by patients was not well known until the 1990s\, when multiple countries reported staggering numbers of patients harmed and killed by medical errors. Recognizing that healthcare errors impact 1 in every 10 patients around the world\, the World Health Organization calls patient safety an endemic concern. Indeed\, patient safety has emerged as a distinct healthcare discipline supported by an immature yet developing scientific framework. There is a significant transdisciplinary body of theoretical and research literature that informs the science of patient safety. No one should be harmed in health care. Yet thousands of patients across the world suffer avoidable harm\, or are put at risk of injury\, while receiving health care every single day. The 72nd World Health Assembly adopted resolution WHA 72.6 ‘Global action on patient safety’ on 25 May 2019. The resolution recognizes patient safety as a global health priority and endorses the establishment of World Patient Safety Day to be observed annually on 17 September. World Patient Safety Day calls for global solidarity and concerted action by all countries and international partners to improve patient safety. Furthermore\, the Day brings together patients\, families\, caregivers\, communities\, health workers\, health care leaders and policy-makers to show their commitment to patient safety. DESCRIPTION:Head and neck cancer is a group of cancers that starts in the mouth\, nose\, throat\, larynx\, sinuses\, or salivary glands. \nSymptoms for head and neck cancer may include a lump or sore that does not heal\, a sore throat that does not go away\, trouble swallowing\, or a change in the voice; there may also be unusual bleeding\, facial swelling\, or trouble breathing. About 75% of head and neck cancer is caused by the use of alcohol or tobacco. Other risk factors include betel quid\, certain types of human papillomavirus\, radiation exposure\, certain workplace exposures\, and Epstein-Barr virus. Head and neck cancers are most commonly of the squamous cell carcinoma type. The diagnosis is confirmed by tissue biopsy. The degree of spread may be determined by medical imaging and blood tests. Not using tobacco or alcohol can reduce the risk for head and neck cancer. While screening in the general population does not appear to be useful\, screening high risk groups by examination of the throat might be useful. \nHead and neck cancer often is curable if it is diagnosed early; however\, outcomes are typically poor if it is diagnosed late. Treatment may include a combination of surgery\, radiation therapy\, chemotherapy\, and targeted therapy. Following treatment of one head and neck cancer\, people are at higher risk of having a second cancer. In 2015\, head and neck cancers globally affected more than 5.5 million people (2.4 million mouth\, 1.7 million throat\, and 1.4 million larynx cancer)\, and it has caused over 379\,000 deaths (146\,000 mouth\, 127\,400 throat\, 105\,900 larynx cancer). Together\, they are the seventh most-frequent cancer and the ninth most-frequent cause of death from cancer. In the United States\, about 1% of people are affected at some point in their life\, and males are affected twice as often as females. The usual age at diagnosis is between 55 and 65 years old. DESCRIPTION:De Week van de Toegankelijkheid is een initiatief van Ieder(in)\, koepelorganisatie en landelijk netwerk van mensen met een beperking of chronische ziekte; bij Ieder(in) zijn 230 organisaties van mensen met een beperking of chronische ziekte aangesloten. \nIn 2026 wordt extra aandacht voor toegankelijke zorg. Wat is er nodig om goede zorg te ontvangen als je in een rolstoel zit\, slechtziend of doof bent\, gevoelig bent voor prikkels of een energiebeperking hebt? Iedere patiënt is anders. Bij het organiseren van zorg moet je daar rekening mee houden. Vaak zijn kleine aanpassingen al voldoende. Van een zorginstelling zonder fysieke drempels tot digitale zorgtoepassingen die voor iedereen bruikbaar zijn tot informatie over zorg die ook toegankelijk is voor mensen met een beperking. Hoe zorg jij ervoor dat iedereen de zorg krijgt die hij of zij nodig heeft in jouw praktijk\, ziekenhuis of zorginstelling? DESCRIPTION:3FM Serious Request (vaak verkort tot Serious Request) is een geldinzamelingsactie die sinds 2004 jaarlijks georganiseerd wordt in de week voor kerst door de Nederlandse radiozender NPO 3FM. \n\n3FM Serious Request komt dit jaar in actie voor De Nederlandse Brandwonden Stichting. Dat hebben 3FM-dj’s Barend van Deelen\, Sophie Hijlkema en Mart Meijer net bekendgemaakt in een speciale ochtendshow. Vanaf De Markt in ’s-Hertogenbosch\, waar het Glazen Huis vorig jaar stond\, vertrekken ze in een gigantische 3FM-bus\, onderweg naar de nieuwe stad: Arnhem.
