SUMMARY:World Malaria Day / Wereld Malaria Dag / World Malaria Report 2025
DESCRIPTION:WHO and partners will mark World Malaria Day by celebrating the achievements of countries that are approaching – and achieving – malaria elimination. \nThey provide inspiration for all nations that are working to stamp out this deadly disease and improve the health and livelihoods of their populations. On World Malaria Day 2025\, WHO joins the RBM Partnership to End Malaria and other partners in promoting “Malaria Ends With Us: Reinvest\, Reimagine\, Reignite”\, a grassroots campaign that aims to re-energize efforts at all levels\, from global policy to community action\, to accelerate progress towards malaria elimination. \nLinks:\nWorld Malaria Day \nZero malaria starts with me \nWorld malaria report 2024 \nCan dogs sniff out malaria? \nDriving a protective allele of the mosquito FREP1 gene to combat malaria – publication

SUMMARY:Driving a protective allele of the mosquito FREP1 gene to combat malaria - publication
DESCRIPTION:Click picture to read\nMosquitoes can spread a deadly parasite that causes malaria\, experts are using CRISPR to change the mosquito’s genome to stop this spread. \nA team of researchers at University of California\, San Diego\, University of São Paulo\, Johns Hopkins University\, and University of California\, Berkeley\, have discovered a potential new tool in the fight against malaria. The results were described in a paper ‘Driving a protective allele of the mosquito FREP1 gene to combat malaria‘ published in the journal Nature. \nLinks:\nOne Small Genetic Tweak May Stop Mosquitoes from Spreading Malaria

SUMMARY:World Mosquito Day / Wereld Muggen Dag 2025
DESCRIPTION:World Mosquito Day commemorates Sir Ronald Ross’ 1897 discovery of the link between mosquitoes and malaria transmission\, the event raises awareness about the threat of malaria and other diseases transmitted by the world’s deadliest animal. \nLinks:\nWorld Mosquito Day\n\nWorld Mosquito Day 2019 \nWereld Muggen Dag

SUMMARY:Global Fund Results Report 2025 – publication
DESCRIPTION:Global Fund reports 70 million lives saved – but warns progress is at risk. \nNew report highlights major progress in the fight against AIDS\, tuberculosis and malaria – but warns that without renewed commitment and investment\, decades of hard-won gains could unravel. The Global Fund’s Eighth Replenishment is critical to keep the world on track toward ending these deadly diseases. The Global Fund to Fight AIDS\, Tuberculosis and Malaria (the Global Fund) released its annual Results Report\, revealing an extraordinary milestone: 70 million lives saved since the Global Fund’s inception in 2002. In less than a quarter century\, the Global Fund partnership – driven by country leadership\, affected communities and front-line health workers – has slashed the combined death rate from AIDS\, tuberculosis (TB) and malaria by 63% and cut the combined incidence rate by 42%. The report demonstrates the high return on investment of the Global Fund partnership\, and highlights the continued progress achieved in the fight against the three diseases\, with a record number of people on antiretroviral therapy for HIV\, a record number of people with TB receiving treatment\, and the continued scale-up of malaria prevention efforts. \nLinks:\nGlobal Fund Results Report 2025
