SUMMARY:#Movember 2025
DESCRIPTION:Movember (een porte-manteau van het Engelse woord ‘moustache’ (snor) en ‘november’) is een jaarlijks terugkerend evenement om aandacht te vragen voor prostaatkanker\, teelbalkanker en de gezondheid van de man meer in het algemeen. \nDoor mannen en vrouwen (Mo Bros en Mo Sistas) aan te moedigen om mee te doen streeft de stichting er naar om de vroege opsporing van kanker\, diagnose en effectieve behandelingen\, en uiteindelijk een vermindering van het aantal vermijdbare sterfgevallen te realiseren. Naast het ondergaan van een jaarlijkse controle stimuleert de stichting mensen zich bewust te zijn van mogelijke familiegeschiedenis van kanker en om een gezondere levensstijl aan te nemen. De Movember Foundation financiert ruim 800 onderzoeksprojecten over de hele wereld. Het Wereldwijd Wetenschappelijk Comité (GSC) komt jaarlijks bijeen om ontwikkelingen in het kankeronderzoek te bespreken en te bepalen waar het beschikbare geld heen gaat. DESCRIPTION:Het doel van Wereld Alvleesklierkanker maand is mensen te onderwijzen over alvleesklierkanker. \nDe symptomen van alvleesklierkanker (buik- of rugpijn\, gewichtsverlies\, geelzucht\, verlies van eetlust\, misselijkheid\, veranderingen in de ontlasting en diabetes) worden vaak in eerste instantie toegeschreven aan andere minder ernstige voorkomende aandoeningen. Echter een vroege diagnose geeft de hoogste overlevingskans en daarom is het bijzonder belangrijk om alert te zijn. Vaak wordt alvleesklierkanker pas ontdekt wanneer er al uitzaaiingen zijn. Als je de diagnose alvleesklierkanker krijgt is dat min of meer een doodvonnis. De overlevingskans is klein bij deze vorm van kanker. Het aantal patiënten dat overlijdt aan alvleesklierkanker is groot en overtreft naar verwachting over ruim tien jaar de sterfte aan darmkanker of borstkanker. \nLinks:\nWorld Pancreatic Cancer Day

DESCRIPTION:Gastric Cancer Awareness Month wants to raise awareness\, promote healthier choices\, and advocate for earlier detection that can save lives. \nGastric cancer – also called stomach cancer – is a disease in which cancer cells form in the lining of the stomach. Oesophageal cancer is cancer of the oesophagus (gullet\, or food pipe) – the long tube that carries food from the throat to the stomach. Oesophageal cancer is cancer of the oesophagus (gullet\, or food pipe) – the long tube that carries food from the throat to the stomach. It is the eighth most common cancer in the world. In Europe\, around 53 000 people are diagnosed with oesophageal cancer each year (2020 Data from ECIS). Gastric cancer is the fourth most common cancer in the world. In Europe\, around 136 000 people per year are diagnosed with gastric cancer (2020 Data from ECIS). Oesophageal cancer is the thirteenth\, while gastric cancer is the sixth most common cause of cancer-related death in Europe. \nGastric Cancer Awareness Month 2025 has a powerful message: gastric cancer can affect anyone. DESCRIPTION:The 11th Conference of the Parties (COP11) to the World Health Organization Framework Convention on Tobacco Control (WHO FCTC) 183 Parties\, representing more than 90% of the world’s population\, work together to enhance and advance tobacco control. \nThe Conference of the Parties (COP) is the governing body of the WHO FCTC and is comprised of all Parties to the Convention. The work of the COP is governed by its Rules of Procedure and keeps under regular review the implementation of the Convention and takes the decisions necessary to promote its effective implementation\, and may also adopt protocols\, annexes and amendments to the Convention. The COP may establish such subsidiary bodies as are necessary to achieve the objective of the Convention\, such as the Intergovernmental Negotiating Body on a Protocol on Illicit Trade in Tobacco Products. The COP also may establish working groups or expert groups with the mandate to elaborate guidelines and recommendations for the implementation of different treaty provisions. The Meeting of the Parties (MOP) is the governing body of the Protocol to Eliminate Illicit Trade in Tobacco Products. The work of the MOP is governed by its Rules of Procedure and keeps under regular review the implementation of the Protocol and takes the decisions necessary to promote its effective implementation. The MOP may establish working groups or expert groups with the mandate to elaborate guidelines and recommendations for the implementation of different protocol provisions. To this end\, the first session of the MOP established a working group on the tracking and tracing system following article 8\, and a second one on assistance and cooperation following articles 12\, 21\, 23\, 24\, 28 and 29. The working groups presented their reports to the second session of the MOP in November 2020.
