DESCRIPTION:Om boeren en de natuur in Europa te beschermen zijn de meest gevaarlijke pesticiden verboden in de landbouw\, toch draaien er in Europa fabrieken met verboden gifstoffen op volle toeren en lidstaten blijven jaar in jaar uit meedoen aan de export naar landen waar de wetgeving minder beschermend is voor de volksgezondheid en het milieu. \nOok Nederlandse bedrijven maken zich hier schuldig aan. Bijna 15.000 ton (15.000.000 kg) aan EU-verboden pesticiden werden in 2022 vanuit Nederland verhandeld naar buiten Europa. Alsof de risico’s op ziekte van boeren en omwonenden geen probleem meer is als de containers de Europese grens over zijn. Deze dubbele morele standaard moet zo snel mogelijk stoppen. En dat is nog niet alles: resten van deze pesticiden komen via import op bananen\, rozijnen en rijst weer bij ons terug. Je begrijpt het goed: Europa staat het toe dat deze verboden giffen alsnog op ons bord belanden. Dit is een belachelijk boemerang effect! Europa beloofde hier een einde aan te maken\, maar het proces om tot een nieuwe wet te komen staat al jaren doodstil. Dit duurt veel te lang! DESCRIPTION:Chevron runs natural gas extraction and pipelines off the shore of Palestine/Israel\, making it a major partner in Israeli energy apartheid\, the military blockade on Gaza\, and the illegal exploitation of Palestinian land and resources. \nJoin Palestinian civil society and a growing international coalition calling on Chevron to end its support of genocide and apartheid in Palestine. Chevron is the largest producer of natural gas for Israel and the largest multinational corporation with a significant stake in Israel’s energy sector. It operates and partially owns the largest active Israeli gas fields\, Tamar and Leviathan\, and the smaller and undeveloped Dalit field\, all of which are located in the Eastern Mediterranean Sea\, west of Haifa. The gas from Tamar is processed in a rig that is located farther south\, off the coast of Isdud/Ashdod. In 2023\, Chevron made an estimated $1.5 billion in revenue from Tamar and Leviathan gas sales alone\, mostly from exports to Egypt and Jordan. Chevron partially owns the Mari B gas field off the coast of the Gaza Strip\, but it has been depleted and inactive since 2013. Chevron also operates and partially owns the East Mediterranean Gas (EMG) pipeline\, which runs from Israel to Egypt off the coast of the Gaza Strip. As the operator of these gas fields and the pipeline\, Chevron is in charge of all operations of these projects\, including planning\, construction\, production\, and supply. The Caspian Pipeline Consortium in Russia\, which supplies crude oil to Israel\, and the main Kazakh companies that supply this oil\, are also partially owned by Chevron. Between 2021 and December 2024\, Chevron spent nearly $28.5 million on lobbying the U.S. government\, including on energy issues related to Israel. DESCRIPTION:Het Wetsvoorstel strafbaarstelling verheerlijken van terrorisme en openbare steunbetuiging aan terroristische organisaties voorziet in een strafbaarstelling in het Wetboek van Strafrecht van het verheerlijken van terrorisme en het in het openbaar betuigen van steun aan terroristische organisaties. \nIn het Wetboek van Strafrecht (Sr) en het Wetboek van Strafrecht van Bonaire\, Sint Eustatius en Saba (Sr BES) zullen de volgende strafbaarstellingen worden geïntroduceerd: \n1) Verheerlijken van terrorisme: Op grond van een nieuw artikel 132a Sr is strafbaar degene die in het openbaar\, mondeling of bij geschrift of afbeelding een terroristisch misdrijf verheerlijkt waarop naar de wettelijke omschrijving levenslange gevangenisstraf is gesteld. Op dit misdrijf wordt een gevangenisstraf van ten hoogste drie jaar of geldboete van de derde categorie gesteld. Een vergelijkbare strafbaarstelling wordt opgenomen in artikel 138b Sr BES. \n2) Verspreiden verheerlijkende geschriften: Ook het verspreiden van een (door iemand anders gemaakte) afbeelding of geschrift waarin een terroristisch misdrijf wordt verheerlijkt\, wordt strafbaar gesteld (voorgesteld artikel 132b Sr). Op dit feit wordt een gevangenisstraf van twee jaar of geldboete van de derde categorie gesteld. Een vergelijkbare strafbaarstelling wordt opgenomen in artikel 138c Sr BES. \n3) Openlijke steunbetuiging aan terroristische organisaties: In het voorgestelde artikel 132c Sr wordt afzonderlijk het openlijk betuigen van steun aan een terroristische organisatie strafbaar gesteld. Aan dit misdrijf wordt een gevangenisstraf van ten hoogste drie jaar of geldboete van de derde categorie verbonden. DESCRIPTION:The Right to Food Coalition roept de EU op om het recht op voedsel werkelijkheid te maken en het te integreren in alle EU-wetten en -beleid die het recht op voedsel in de EU en daarbuiten beïnvloeden. \nHoe kan het dat 1 op de 5 Europeanen geen toegang tot voldoende voedsel heeft\, terwijl we in een van de rijkste economieën ter wereld leven en er jaarlijks bijna 60 miljoen ton voedsel in de vuilnisbak verdwijnt? Dat is het gevolg van een voedselsysteem dat niet gebouwd is voor mensen\, maar voor winst. Er is genoeg voedsel om iedereen te voeden; wat ontbreekt is toegang. Wie minder geld heeft\, heeft onvoldoende toegang tot eten. Hoe overvol de schappen ook zijn. Het resultaat: 42 miljoen Europeanen gaan om de dag met honger naar bed. The Right to Food Coalition\, bestaande uit 360 organisaties\, startten gezamenlijk een Europees Burgerinitiatief (EBI) dat het recht op voedsel juridisch bindend moet maken in de hele EU. Terwijl voedselbedrijven rechtstreeks toegang hebben tot Brussel via lobbyisten\, kunnen wij als burgers alleen via dit instrument wetgeving écht afdwingen. Een EBI is namelijk geen vrijblijvende petitie\, maar een officieel democratisch instrument: bij 1 miljoen handtekeningen\, verspreid over minstens 7 EU-landen\, is de Europese Commissie verplicht het initiatief te behandelen. Voor Nederland geldt een drempel van 19.500 handtekeningen. De indieners vragen de Europese Commissie om concrete wetgeving op o.a. de volgende thema’s: \n\nEerlijke voedselsystemen met echte democratische inspraak\nSteun voor kleinschalige boeren en natuur-inclusieve landbouw\nDuidelijke etikettering\, zodat consumenten weten wat ze eten\nRegulering van ultra bewerkt eten\nEen einde aan voedselverspilling\nBescherming van het recht op voedsel\, ook buiten de EU\n\nHoe zou het werken als het EBI slaagt? De Europese Commissie is dan verplicht om binnen 6 maanden te reageren en aan te geven of\, en hoe\, ze met wetgeving komt. Het recht op voedsel zou dan een afdwingbaar recht worden in plaats van een morele oproep\, vergelijkbaar met hoe consumentenrechten of arbeidsrechten nu wettelijk verankerd zijn. Dat betekent: geen vrijblijvende beloften meer\, maar echte verplichtingen voor beleidsmakers\, en echte mogelijkheden voor burgers om hen daarop aan te spreken. Niemand zou met een lege maag naar bed moeten. Eén handtekening lijkt klein\, maar 150.000 geeft een sterk signaal zodat Brussel niet om ons heen kan. DESCRIPTION:2025-2026 has been declared the Year of Trade Union Climate Action. \nWorkers everywhere are fighting for action to tackle climate change\, organising to futureproof at-risk jobs\, mobilising to protect vulnerable communities here and abroad\, and sweating for a low-carbon economy that works for workers. Backed by motions at both the 2024 and 2025 TUC Congress\, November sees the start of an important year of UK union action on the climate emergency. On Friday 14 November\, 2025 the Campaign Against Climate Change (CACC) Trade Union Group hopes every union branch in every workplace will demand action to tackle the climate crisis through lunchtime protests\, handing out leaflets\, linking up with community actions\, or raising issues such as working temperatures and air quality at work\, for example. The following day\, events demanding climate action and climate justice will take place across the world to coincide with the COP 30 international climate negotiations in Brazil. The UNISON public services\, Unite general\, NEU education\, PCS public and commercial services\, UCU university and college\, FBU firefighters’ and BFAWU foodworkers’ unions are among those taking part in the year of action. As well as the events on 14 and 15 November\, the NEU will support a National Emergency Briefing on climate and nature in London on 27 November. Eight leading experts will brief 850 politicians and business\, culture and faith leaders\, as well as the media\, with the aim of helping “to trigger a societal tipping point towards emergency-level climate and nature action”. The NEU is also running a series of continuing professional development webinars for members\, while its annual Health\, Safety and Environment Briefing in November includes sessions on clean air\, green bargaining\, and the Climate Ambassadors scheme. The latter\, promoted by the Department for Education\, aims to boost sustainability and climate action in educational settings. In March 2026\, unions in education — the NEU\, UCU\, NAHT and UNISON — will hold a climate and nature festival. This will look at how to support and upskill a just transition\, inspiring climate action in education settings. DESCRIPTION:The United Nations General Assembly decided to designate 22 August as the International Day Commemorating the Victims of Acts of Violence Based on Religion or Belief. \nThe General Assembly\, in its resolution A/RES/73/296\, designated 22 August as the International Day Commemorating the Victims of Acts of Violence Based on Religion or Belief recognizing the importance of providing victims of acts of violence based on religion or belief and members of their families with appropriate support and assistance in accordance with applicable law. It strongly deplored all acts of violence against persons on the basis of their religion or belief\, as well as any such acts directed against their homes\, businesses\, properties\, schools\, cultural centres or places of worship\, as well as all attacks on and in religious places\, sites and shrines that are in violation of international law. A previous resolution establishing the International Day of Remembrance of and Tribute to the Victims of Terrorism (A/RES/72/165) also recognized that working together to enhance the implementation of existing legal regimes that protect individuals against discrimination and hate crimes\, increasing interreligious\, interfaith and intercultural efforts and expanding human rights education are important first steps in combating incidents of intolerance\, discrimination and violence against individuals on the basis of religion or belief. \nBy proclaiming an International Day Commemorating the Victims of Acts of Violence Based on Religion or Belief\, the General Assembly recalled that States have the primary responsibility to promote and protect human rights\, including the human rights of persons belonging to religious minorities\, including their right to exercise their religion or belief freely. Freedom of religion or belief\, freedom of opinion and expression\, the right to peaceful assembly and the right to freedom of association are interdependent\, interrelated and mutually reinforcing. They are enshrined in articles 18\, 19 and 20 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. Upholding these rights plays an important role in the fight against all forms of intolerance and of discrimination based on religion or belief. The open\, constructive and respectful debate of ideas\, as well as interreligious\, interfaith and intercultural dialogue\, at the local\, national\, regional and international levels\, can play a positive role in combating religious hatred\, incitement and violence. Furthermore\, the exercise of the right to freedom of opinion and expression and full respect for the freedom to seek\, receive and impart information can play a positive role in strengthening democracy and combating religious intolerance. \nLinks:\nDay Commemorating the Victims of Acts of Violence Based on Religion or Belief

Een vierde vliegtuig stortte neer in de buurt van Shanksville in de staat Pennsylvania. Alle vier de passagierstoestellen vlogen binnen het normale dienstrooster. Lotfi El Hamidi en Mohamedou Ould Slahi. \nOp 11 september 2001 pleegde terreurnetwerk Al Qaida met gekaapte passagiersvliegtuigen aanslagen op de Verenigde Staten die de wereld ingrijpend veranderden. President George W. Bush begon de War on Terror: een wereldwijde strijd tegen terrorisme die leidde tot oorlogen in Afghanistan en Irak. Strengere veiligheidsmaatregelen\, verregaande antiterreurwetgeving en de oprichting van het detentiekamp Guantánamo Bay waar ernstige mensenrechtenschendingen plaatsvonden. Terrorisme werd één van de belangrijkste thema’s in de internationale politiek. Er ontstond meer aandacht voor nationale veiligheid\, maar ook discussie over het aantasten van privacy en burgerrechten. Ook in Nederland is de antiterreurwet flink opgerekt en nu leeft het plan om verheerlijking van terrorisme te verbieden. Vijfentwintig jaar later blikken we in de Groene Live terug op de erfenis van 9/11 en de War on Terror. DESCRIPTION:De Klimaatmars is in 2026 in Amsterdam\, de stad die er hard aan werkt om in 2050 helemaal circulair te zijn. \n“Kies voor onze toekomst. Weg met fossiel” is de boodschap van de Klimaatmars op zaterdag 12 september 2026 in Amsterdam\, vlak voor Prinsjesdag. De Klimaatcrisis Coalitie (KCC) vergroot met de mars de druk op Kabinet Jetten om fossiele brandstoffen in te ruilen voor hernieuwbare bronnen. De eis om met fossiel te breken is in alle lagen van de samenleving steeds breder te horen\, blijkt uit in mei 2026 gepubliceerd onderzoek van het Sociaal Cultureel Planbureau. De afhankelijkheid van olie en gas maakt ons kwetsbaar: voor stijgende prijzen\, internationale chaos en de gevolgen van de klimaatcrisis. Ondertussen boeken oliebedrijven recordwinsten terwijl gewone mensen de rekening betalen. Het is duidelijk: we moeten zo snel mogelijk stoppen met fossiele brandstoffen. De Klimaatmars is dit jaar bewust vlak voor Prinsjesdag. Zo voert de KCC de druk op voor de Algemene Politieke Beschouwingen van de Tweede Kamer. Volgens de KCC moet in de Miljoenennota veel meer belang en geld worden toegekend aan een rechtvaardige energietransitie. Daarin geeft de regering aan wat het regeringsbeleid zal zijn voor het komende jaar. Prinsjesdag is een dag die met veel rituelen gepaard gaat. Artikel 65 van de Grondwet bepaalt dat op de derde dinsdag van september (…) door of namens de Koning in een verenigde vergadering van de Staten-Generaal een uiteenzetting van het door de regering te voeren beleid wordt gegeven. Artikel 105 lid 2 van de Grondwet voegt daaraan toe dat dit samenvalt met de indiening van de begroting.
