DESCRIPTION:Softwaremaker Adobe\, onder meer bekend van het pdf-programma\, verzamelt op grote schaal privacygevoelige informatie van Nederlanders stelt Stichting Data Bescherming Nederland (SDBN) die een rechtszaak tegen de softwaremaker aanspant. \nIedereen die regelmatig het internet gebruikt via de Chrome-browser en regelmatig apps downloadt en gebruikt\, is slachtoffer van Adobe en kan zich gratis voor deze rechtszaak aanmelden. Adobe verzamelt\, zo stelt SDBN\, in het geheim enorme hoeveelheden persoonsgegevens via onder meer de websites van KPN\, ABP\, Beter Horen en zelfs de Belastingdienst\, en via mobiele apps van onder andere Marktplaats en Buienradar. Namens miljoenen Nederlanders eist SDBN dat Adobe stopt met het verzamelen van persoonsgegevens via tracking cookies en via software in mobiele apps. Contact met het bedrijf heeft de afgelopen maanden niets opgeleverd en daarom stapt SDBN naar de rechter. DESCRIPTION:Hundreds of computer researchers have signed an open letter calling for more careful public review of online age verification requirements and the privacy costs. \nSocial media is going the way of alcohol\, gambling\, and other social sins: Societies are deciding it’s no longer kid stuff. Lawmakers point to compulsive use\, exposure to harmful content\, and mounting concerns about adolescent mental health. So\, many propose to set a minimum age\, usually 13 or 16. In cases when regulators demand real enforcement rather than symbolic rules\, platforms run into a basic technical problem. The only way to prove that someone is old enough to use a site is to collect personal data about who they are. And the only way to prove that you checked is to keep the data indefinitely. Age-restriction laws push platforms toward intrusive verification systems that often directly conflict with modern data-privacy law. This is the age-verification trap. DESCRIPTION:The eleventh annual Multi-Stakeholder Forum on Science\, Technology and Innovation for the SDGs (STI Forum) will be held from Wednesday\, 6 May\, to Thursday\, 7 May 2026 in Conference Room 4 at the UN Headquarters in New York. \nThe Forum will be convened by the President of ECOSOC Mr. Lok Bahadur Thapa\, who had appointed two co-chairs – Chola Milambo\, Permanent Representative of the Republic of Zambia to the United Nations\, and Gregor W. Koessler\, Permanent Representative of Austria to the United Nations. As per its mandate\, the Forum will be organized by the UN interagency task team on STI for the SDGs (IATT)\, convened by UN-DESA and UNCTAD\, and the 10-Member Group of high-level representatives appointed by the Secretary General. As in previous years\, the theme of the STI Forum will be closely aligned with that of the High-Level Political Forum on Sustainable Development (HLPF)\, to be held from Monday\, 6 July\, to Wednesday\, 15 July 2026\, under the auspices of the Economic and Social Council. The STI Forum will have an exclusive focus on the role and contributions of science\, technology and innovation to the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals. The 2026 HLPF will hold in-depth reviews of five SDGs: SDG 6. Ensure availability and sustainable management of water and sanitation for all; SDG 7. Ensure access to affordable\, reliable\, sustainable and modern energy for all; SDG 9. Build resilient infrastructure\, promote inclusive and sustainable industrialization and foster innovation; SDG 11. Make cities and human settlements inclusive\, safe\, resilient and sustainable; and SDG 17. DESCRIPTION:Elke eerste donderdag van mei wordt World Password Day gevierd: een speciale dag uitgeroepen om het belang van sterke wachtwoorden te onderstrepen. \nHoe dan ook\, de noodzaak van sterke wachtwoorden is niet te onderschatten\, gezien de vele berichten over phishing\, ransomware en datalekken. Jim Cox van cybersecuritybedrijf Proofpoint deelt zijn tips met ons. Hij schreef ze speciaal voor thuiswerkers\, maar ze gelden net zo goed voor de particuliere gebruiker. \nTips voor wachtwoordbeheer\n• Wijzig wachtwoorden regelmatig en hergebruik ze nooit. Als je denkt dat er een kans is dat je data gevaar loopt\, neem deze voorzorgsmaatregel dan direct en stel je manager op de hoogte van het beveiligingsprobleem.\n• Schrijf nooit je wachtwoorden ergens op. Maar als je je wachtwoord dan toch moet opschrijven\, zorg er dan in ieder geval voor dat deze niet zichtbaar is.\n• Gebruik een wachtwoordmanager om willekeurige wachtwoorden te maken die veilig worden opgeslagen\, gecodeerd en toegankelijk zijn op alle persoonlijke apparaten. Dergelijke software is relatief eenvoudig te implementeren en beschikbaar als een cloud-gebaseerde dienst\, waardoor het een verstandige investering is voor bedrijven\n• Implementeer\, indien beschikbaar\, tweefactor-authenticatie op accounts en apparaten om apparaten verder te beveiligen. Dit is vooral belangrijk voor personeel met toegang tot gevoelige informatie. \nTips voor het aanmaken van wachtwoorden\n• Wachtwoorden moeten uit ten minste 12 tekens bestaan\, met minimaal twee of drie verschillende soorten tekens op willekeurige plaatsen. Vermijd hoofdletters aan het begin en cijfers of symbolen aan het eind. Hoewel deze vereisten lastig lijken\, kunnen ze heel effectief zijn en kan de rompslomp worden verminderd door gebruik te maken een wachtwoordmanager.\n• Vermijd het gebruik van persoonlijke informatie bij het maken van een wachtwoord\, zoals geboortedata of de namen van personen\, huisdieren of sportteams.\n• Maak een wachtwoordzin: Maak een zin en gebruik de eerste letter of de eerste twee letters van elk woord als je wachtwoord en combineer dit met andere tekens. \nLinks:\nGadget Guide: World Password Day \nWorld Password Day 2026 \n6 tekenen dat iemand toegang heeft tot jouw accounts
