DESCRIPTION:Op 8 november 2023 vindt achter gesloten deuren de laatste vergadering plaats waarin de tekst van de EU Digital Identity framework (eIDAS) wordt vastgesteld\, op de webpagina van het Europees Parlement vind je meer informatie over het EIDAS dossier. Een groep mensen en organisaties spreekt zich uit tegen deze geheime EU wet\, omdat het huidige wetsvoorstel onze internetveiligheid bedreigt. \nHelp je mee dit nieuws te verspreiden? Post een berichtje online zodat meer mensen hiervan op de hoogte zijn en zich vandaag nog hiertegen kunnen uitspreken. Ben je Europees burger? Schrijf je bezwaar per mail aan Europarlementariër Romana Jerkovic. Chat control en afluisteren; de overheid kijkt graag over je schouder mee terwijl je een berichtje typt of tapt je online aanwezigheid af. Deze bevoegdheid probeert de Europese wetgever o.a. te verkrijgen via het csam dossier. Maar dus ook via de voorgestelde EIDAS wettekst wordt geprobeerd de surveillance mogelijkheden voor de overheid verder te bestendigen. Mullvad bespreekt deze vergelijking in het kort op de website. Ben je of ken je een cybersecurity expert\, wetenschapper of NGO die hier iets van vindt? Dan kun je deze open brief nog ondertekenen. Ook voor meer technische details en achtergronden is de open brief aan te raden. \nDe groep ondertekenaars van deze brief maakt zich grote zorgen over de huidige EIDAS wettekst. Het is heel goed dat de EU zich inzet voor de digitale veiligheid van Europese burgers. Onze online communicatie moet veilig zijn doordat onze privacy gewaarborgd is. Technische standaarden helpen daarbij\, maar die moeten wel voldoen aan adequate technische waarborgen. Anders leidt dit tot minder veiligheid voor iedereen. Vooral de tekst van artikel 45 baart zorgen. Het huidige voorstel verbreedt de mogelijkheid voor overheden om EU burgers te surveilleren door hen technische middelen toe te kennen waarmee versleutelde online communicatie onderschept kan worden. Tegelijkertijd wordt het noodzakelijke toezicht ondermijnd. Het komt erop neer dat elke EU lidstaat in staat wordt gesteld online verkeer te onderscheppen van elke EU burger en voor diezelfde burger bestaat hier geen effectieve bescherming tegen. \nLinks:\nOproep: laat van je horen! Onze internetveiligheid is weer in het geding
