Zeer algemeen is de lampionnentocht: De kinderen maken lampionnen of hollen bieten uit en gaan met de lichtjes langs de deuren. SUMMARY:#IDFA International Documentary Film Festival Amsterdam 2025
DESCRIPTION:Het International Documentary Film Festival Amsterdam (IDFA) is in 1988 opgericht om de documentairecultuur nationaal en internationaal te stimuleren\, sindsdien is IDFA uitgegroeid tot het grootste documentaire filmfestival ter wereld en speelt een belangrijke rol in zowel het Nederlandse als internationale cultuurlandschap. \nDit filmfestival wordt jaarlijks in november in Amsterdam gehouden. Er worden verschillende prijzen uitgereikt\, waaronder de IDFA Award for Feature-Length Documentary. Tijdens IDFA staat de creatieve documentaire in het middelpunt van de belangstelling. Dit betekent dat IDFA films selecteert die de standpunten van de filmmaker op een creatieve en filmische manier reflecteren. IDFA zoekt documentaires die filmisch gezien belangwekkend of vernieuwend zijn\, die relevant zijn voor de huidige maatschappij en die de kijker ertoe brengen na te denken\, te discussiëren en vragen te stellen. Jaarlijks worden ruim 250 creatieve documentaires vertoond. Naast het festival bestaat IDFA uit het IDFA Bertha Fund\, de markten het IDFA Forum\, Docs for Sale en IDFAcademy. Het IDFA Bertha Fund steunt documentaireprojecten en festivals in ontwikkelingslanden. IDFA Forum is de grootste Europese cofinancieringsmarkt voor documentaireproducties. Docs for Sale is een gespecialiseerde markt voor de verkoop en distributie van creatieve documentaire. SUMMARY:Day against Illicit Trafficking in Cultural Property 2025
DESCRIPTION:Held every year on 14 November\, the International Day against Illicit Trafficking in Cultural Property reminds the world that theft\, looting and illicit trafficking of cultural property takes place in every country\, robbing people of their culture\, identity and history\, and that we have to work together to combat this crime. \nIllicit trafficking of cultural property has many causes\, and ignorance and poor ethics are at its very root. Illicitly traded cultural property is often transferred either through illicit markets worldwide or through licit markets such as auctions\, including through the Internet. People\, governments\, the art-market and institutions can do their part to fight this by raising awareness\, being informed and ethical when buying and selling art and cultural objects\, enacting and respecting laws\, and protecting cultural heritage and property. UNESCO first adopted 14 November as the International Day against Illicit Trafficking in Cultural Property during its 40th General Conference in 2019\, with the aim of drawing more attention to this crime and the ways to combat it\, as well as to highlight the importance of international cooperation and proactive measures through the Convention on the Means of Prohibiting and Preventing the Illicit Import\, Export and Transfer of Ownership of Cultural Property (1970). This Convention\, which celebrated its 50th anniversary in 2020\, provides an international framework for the prevention of theft and looting and the return and the restitution of stolen cultural property\, in parallel with other advances in the fight against illicit trafficking. It is important that every buyer complies with the required due diligence when verifying the provenance of cultural property acquired in order to put an end to the illicit trafficking of cultural property. The UNESCO Virtual Museum of Stolen Cultural Objects – with over 250 objects digitized\, this unique virtual museum highlights stolen objects and their original  contexts\, illuminated by  heartfelt testimonies of the communities they belong to – was launched in 2025. \nLinks:\nDay against Illicit Trafficking in Cultural Property

DESCRIPTION:PEN International\, de eerste wereldwijde vereniging van schrijvers\, is de initiatiefnemer van Dag van de Gevangen Schrijver en de Vermoorde Schrijver.\n\nDeze dag gaat om het stilstaan bij de gevangengenomen schrijver en het herdenken van de verdwenen schrijver of de vermoorde schrijver. De dag heeft ook betrekking op een dichter\, journalist of blogger\, deze dag is voor iedereen die betrokken is bij het geschreven of gesproken woord. PEN roept wereldwijd autoriteiten op om iedereen vrij te laten die uitsluitend gevangen is gezet omdat gebruik werd gemaakt van het recht op vrijheid van meningsuiting\, recht op vrijheid van vreedzame vereniging en/of vergadering. Dat vrijheid van meningsuiting niet in elk land zo vanzelfsprekend is helaas meer dan bekend. Elk jaar zet PEN International een paar mensen in de spotlight. DESCRIPTION:Op 20 november 2025 start het Tomorrow Filmfestival brengt filmmakers\, activisten en denkers samen die laten zien dat verandering kan en dat we dat niet alleen hoeven te doen. \nHet thema van 2025 is ‘wij zijn natuur’. Het herinnert ons eraan hoe verbonden we zijn met alles wat leeft\, inclusief wij zelf. In die verbondenheid ligt de kracht. Talks zijn er o.a. van jonge klimaatactivisten tot inheemse leiders\, van creatieve denkers tot aan de woorden van Jane Goodall. Tijdens de festivalavond zie je filmfragmenten en hoor je inspirerende talks die laten zien hoe verhalen ons in actie kunnen brengen. In het panelgesprek staat centraal hoe kunst\, film en activisme elkaar kunnen versterken. De avond begint met een bijzondere performance en biedt bezoekers de kans mee te praten\, ideeën uit te wisselen en nieuwe connecties te leggen. De openingsavond van het Tomorrow Filmfestival vindt plaats op donderdag 20 november in het DeLaMar Theater. DESCRIPTION:World Television Day is not so much a celebration of the tool\, but rather the philosophy which it represents\, television represents a symbol for communication and globalization in the contemporary world. \nTelevision continues to be the single largest source of video consumption. Though screen sizes have changed\, and people create\, post\, stream and consume content on different platforms\, the number of households with television sets around the world continues to rise. The interaction between emerging and traditional forms of broadcast creates a great opportunity to raise awareness about the important issues facing our communities and our planet. In recognition of the increasing impact television has on decision-making by bringing world attention to conflicts and threats to peace and security and its potential role in sharpening the focus on other major issues\, including economic and social issues\, the United Nations General Assembly proclaimed 21 November as World Television Day (through resolution 51/205 of 17 December 1996). On 21 and 22 November 1996 the United Nations held the first World Television Forum\, where leading media figures met under the auspices of the United Nations to discuss the growing significance of television in today’s changing world and to consider how they might enhance their mutual cooperation. That is why the General Assembly decided to proclaim 21 November as World Television Day. This was done in recognition of the increasing impact television has on the process of decision-making. Television was thus acknowledged as a major tool in informing\, channelling and affecting public opinion. DESCRIPTION:Het Groot Dictee der Nederlandse Taal is een wedstrijd in het correct spellen van de Nederlandse taal\, die van 1990 tot en met 2016 jaarlijks in de derde week van december gelijktijdig in Nederland en in België via de televisie werd uitgezonden\, sinds 2018 wordt het dictee enkel via de radio uitgezonden. \nDe tv-versie vond plaats in de vergaderzaal van de Eerste Kamer in Den Haag en werd uitgezonden door de Nederlandse en Vlaamse publieke omroepen. Deelnemers bij de tv-versie waren Nederlanders en Vlamingen. De radioversie vindt jaarlijks telkens op een andere locatie plaats. Bij de radioversie zijn er alleen Nederlandse deelnemers. De luisteraars kunnen tijdens de uitzending\, net als vroeger de kijkers\, thuis meeschrijven en zo hun eigen spelvaardigheid testen. Daarnaast kan er ook in verschillende bibliotheken in heel Nederland worden meegeschreven (bij de tv-versie kon dit in verschillende zalen). Op zaterdag 22 november 2025 is het Groot Dictee live te volgen op NPO Radio 1 in het programma De Taalstaat (KRO-NCRV) en YouTube. Het wordt uitgezonden vanuit de bibliotheek in Deurne\, waar twintig Taalstaat-luisteraars het opnemen tegen twintig prominenten. De schrijver van het dictee is taalkundige\, cabaretier en tv-presentator Wim Daniëls. Gerdi Verbeet\, oud-voorzitter van de Tweede Kamer\, leest het voor. DESCRIPTION:23 november 1963: Doctor Who wordt voor het eerst uitgezonden op British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) TV\, wereldwijd vieren de diehard Doctor Who fans (Whovians) daarom op 23 november TARDIS dag. \nDoctor Who is een Britse sciencefictionserie over een tijdreiziger. De BBC zendt deze serie sinds 1963 uit\, met een onderbreking van 1989 tot 2005. In 1996 werd geprobeerd Doctor Who nieuw leven in te blazen met een televisiefilm die als een soort pilot moest dienen voor een nieuwe serie. Hoewel deze film een kijkcijfersucces was in het Verenigd Koninkrijk\, werd het niets in de Verenigde Staten\, waar men deze nieuwe serie wilde produceren\, en het project werd dan ook niet voortgezet. De serie werd in 2005 alsnog hervat met BBC Wales als producent. Het is een cultureel fenomeen in het Verenigd Koninkrijk\, onder meer dankzij de jaarlijkse kerstspecial. De Doctor beweegt zich voort in tijd en ruimte in de TARDIS (een acroniem voor Time And Relative Dimension In Space\, een relatieve dimensie en tijd in de ruimte). Dit ‘voertuig’ – dat van binnen groter is dan van buiten – had oorspronkelijk de eigenschap zich aan te passen aan de omgeving waarin het zich bevond. Echter\, nog voor de aanvang van de serie\, in 1963\, is het bij een bezoek aan Londen ‘blijven steken’ in de vorm van een politiehokje. DESCRIPTION:Sint Pannekoek\, ook wel geschreven als Sint Pannenkoek\, is een fictieve feestdag op 29 november\, die voor het eerst werd beschreven in een strip van Jan\, Jans en de kinderen van Jan Kruis. \nIn 1986 maakte striptekenaar Jan Kruis voor het blad Libelle een strip uit de reeks Jan\, Jans en de kinderen\, waarin opa en dochter Catootje geen trek hebben in de boontjes die Jans\, de moeder van het gezin\, heeft klaargemaakt. Opa oppert hierop dat het\, omdat het 29 november is\, Sint Pannekoek is. Hij noemt het in de strip een oude Rotterdamse feestdag\, waarbij de moeder van het gezin pannenkoeken bakt. Het gezin wacht op de thuiskomst van de “heer des huizes” met een pannenkoek op het hoofd en wenst hem bij binnenkomst een gezegende Sint Pannekoek toe. Jan Kruis gebruikte de term voor het eerst in de schoolagenda Jan\, Jans en de kinderen 1986-1987\, waar hij 29 november als Sint Pannekoek markeerde. In november 1986 was Sint Pannekoek onderwerp van een aflevering van de wekelijkse strip in het vrouwentijdschrift Libelle. In het stripverhaal heeft Catootje geen trek in de boontjes die Jans voor het avondeten wil klaarmaken\, maar juist wel in pannenkoeken. \nNadat opa Tromp aan Jans gevraagd heeft welke datum het is (29 november)\, vertelt hij dat dit Sint Pannekoek is. Dit is volgens hem een oude Rotterdamse traditie\, waarbij de moeder van het gezin pannenkoeken bakt. De gezinsleden wachten volgens deze traditie op de thuiskomst van de heer des huizes met elk een pannenkoek op het hoofd en wensen hem bij binnenkomst “een vrolijke en gezegende Sint Pannekoek” toe. Jans vindt het geweldig en gaat meteen bakken. Op het laatste plaatje zit iedereen met een pannenkoek op het hoofd aan de eettafel\, terwijl vader Jan\, net thuisgekomen\, stomverbaasd toekijkt. Het oneigenlijke gebruik van het woord ‘Sint’ door de stripopa zou Jan Kruis hebben ontleend aan uitspraken van zijn vader. In 2015 breidde Kruis zijn idee uit met ‘Het evangelie van Sint Pannekoek‘\, dat zich afspeelt in de 12e eeuw in een klooster aan de Rotte. Het verhaal gaat over de 15e verjaardag van de monnik Gerrit (de voornaam van opa Tromp). In oktober 2016 richtte Kruis met enkele aanhangers het Nationaal Comité Sint Pannekoek op. Van groot belang is de stand of positie van de getekende letters en woorden\, maar soms ook de vorm en afwijkende achtergrondkleur. Bij veel plaatjes staat zoiets als ‘K=T’\, wat betekent dat het plaatje iets voorstelt waar een K in voorkomt\, en die letter moet worden veranderd in een T om de oplossing te vinden. Datzelfde kan echter ook met een voorwerp worden uitgebeeld: er staat een kist op het plaatje en dat moet worden geïnterpreteerd als ‘K=T’. DESCRIPTION:Dalek remembrance is on the 21 December every year\, this date was chosen because on the 21 December 1963\, the Daleks (/ˈdɑːlɪks/ (listen) DAH-leks) first made their appearence on screen and into history. \nThe Daleks are a fictional extraterrestrial race of mutants principally portrayed in the British science fiction television programme Doctor Who. The Daleks were conceived by science-fiction writer Terry Nation and first appeared in the 1963 Doctor Who serial The Daleks\, in shells designed by Raymond Cusick. Drawing inspiration from the Nazis\, Nation portrayed the Daleks as violent\, merciless and pitiless cyborg aliens\, who demand total conformity to their will and are bent on the conquest of the universe and the extermination of what they see as inferior races. Collectively they are the greatest enemies of Doctor Who’s protagonist\, the Time Lord known as “the Doctor.” During the second year of the original Doctor Who programme (1963-1989)\, the Daleks developed their own form of time travel. In the beginning of the second Doctor Who TV series that debuted in 2005\, it was established that the Daleks had engaged in a Time War against the Time Lords that affected much of the universe and altered parts of history. \nIn the programme’s narrative\, the planet Skaro suffered a thousand-year war between two societies: the Kaleds and the Thals. Believing his own society was becoming weak and that it was his duty to create a new master race from the ashes of his people\, the Kaled scientist Davros genetically modified several Kaleds into squid-like life-forms he called Daleks\, removing “weaknesses” such as mercy and sympathy while increasing aggression and survival-instinct. He then integrated them with tank-like robotic shells equipped with advanced technology based on the same life-support system he himself used since being burned and blinded by a nuclear attack. His creations became intent on dominating the universe by enslaving or purging all “inferior” non-Dalek life. DESCRIPTION:2 voor 12 (voorheen Twee voor Twaalf\, vanaf januari 2019 gestileerd als 2V12) is een televisiequiz die op de Nederlandse publieke omroep uitgezonden wordt door BNNVARA (voorheen VARA). \nHet is een kennisquiz waarbij de deelnemers\, teams van twee spelers\, twaalf vragen moeten beantwoorden. Uit de twaalf beginletters van de antwoorden moeten zij dan een woord raden. In deze feestelijke oudejaarsspecial wordt teruggeblikt op hoogte- en dieptepunten van het afgelopen jaar\, verpakt in twaalf vragen. Kirk (William Shatner)\, Spock (Leonard Nimoy) and their crewmates as they explored the galaxy on the starship USS Enterprise. Star Trek is an American science fiction media franchise created by Gene Roddenberry\, which began with the eponymous 1960s television series and became a worldwide pop-culture phenomenon. The franchise has expanded into various films\, television series\, video games\, novels\, and comic books\, becoming one of the most recognizable and highest-grossing media franchises of all time. The franchise began with Star Trek: The Original Series\, which debuted in the US on September 8\, 1966\, and aired for three seasons on NBC. It was first broadcast on September 6\, 1966\, on Canada’s CTV network. It followed the voyages of the crew of the USS Enterprise\, a space exploration vessel built by the United Federation of Planets in the 23rd century\, on a mission “to explore strange new worlds\, to seek out new life and new civilizations\, to boldly go where no man has gone before”. In creating Star Trek\, Roddenberry was inspired by C. S. DESCRIPTION:World Braille Day is an annual international day on 4 January and celebrates awareness of the importance of braille as a means of communication in the full realization of the human rights for blind and visually impaired people. \nThe date for the event was chosen by the United Nations General Assembly via a proclamation in November 2018\, and marks the birthday of Louis Braille\, creator of this writing system. The first World Braille Day was celebrated on January 4\, 2019. Braille is a tactile representation of alphabetic and numerical symbols using six dots to represent each letter and number\, and even musical\, mathematical and scientific symbols. SUMMARY:Dag van de Rare Loopjes / Day of Silly Walks 2026
DESCRIPTION:De bron van de Dag van de Rare Loopjes (The International Day of Silly Walks) ligt bij het Engelse Ministry of Silly Walks\, is een sketch uit aflevering 14 van Monty Python’s Flying Circus\, getiteld Face the Press\, voor het eerst uitgezonden in 1970 met John Cleese in de hoofdrol. \nDe sketch begint in een boekwinkel in Londen\, waar twee klanten staan. John Cleese komt binnen\, gekleed in zwart City-kostuum met bolhoed. Hij koopt The Times\, en maakt bij het weggaan een enigszins militaire draai\, gevolgd door grote\, slungelige passen. De camera volgt hem op straat\, en Cleese draait\, zwaait en loopt gehurkt. Hij gaat een gebouw binnen\, en de camera toont het bordje op het ijzeren hek: “The Ministry of Silly Walks”. In de gang zien we nog drie mensen met een raar loopje passeren. Binnen presenteert ene Mr. Putey (Michael Palin) zijn loopje in ontwikkeling (walk in progress)\, maar het blijkt eigenlijk niet zo erg raar te zijn. De ambtenaar vertelt Putey dat hij niet gelooft dat het ministerie hem kan helpen omdat zijn loop niet raar genoeg is\, en het budget is klein (“Maar met subsidie kan ik hem nog veel raarder maken!”\, zegt Putey nog). De regering\, zo legt hij uit\, behoort evenveel uit te geven aan Defensie\, Sociale zekerheid\, Gezondheidszorg\, Huisvesting\, Onderwijs\, en Rare loopjes ( Defence\, Social Security\, Health\, Housing\, Education\, and Silly Walks)\, maar heeft onlangs nog minder uitgegeven aan rare loopjes dan aan defensie. De ambtenaar legt later uit dat Mr. Putey misschien aan het Anglo-Franse rare loopje\, Le Marche Futile (een overduidelijke parodie op de ontwikkeling van de Concorde)\, kan werken. SUMMARY:#ESNS Eurosonic Noorderslag 2026
DESCRIPTION:ESNS (Eurosonic Noorderslag) is een non-profit showcase festival en conferentie voor en over Europese popmuziek dat jaarlijks vier dagen lang in januari in de Nederlandse stad Groningen plaatsvindt. \nEurosonic Noorderslag wordt georganiseerd door Stichting Noorderslag die als doel het versterken van de Europese popsector en promotie van Europese popmuziek heeft\, met ieder jaar één land als focusland waar extra aandacht aan besteed wordt.
