DESCRIPTION:De Edison is een van de oudste muziekprijzen in de wereld en de oudste in Nederland\, sinds 1960 wordt deze onderscheiding uitgereikt voor “geluidsdragers van bijzondere kwaliteit”. \nOrganisator is de Edison Stichting\, die is opgericht door de NVPI (voorheen voluit Nederlandse Vereniging van Producenten en Importeurs van beeld- en geluidsdragers)\, waarvan de betrokken platenmaatschappijen en distributeurs lid moeten zijn om opnamen te kunnen inzenden voor de prijs. De onderscheiding is te vergelijken met de Amerikaanse Grammy Award\, de Duitse Echo of de Britse Brit awards. De Edison bestaat uit een bronzen beeld vervaardigd door beeldhouwer Pieter d’Hont. DESCRIPTION:South by Southwest\, abbreviated as SXSW and colloquially referred to as South By\, is an annual conglomeration of parallel film\, interactive media\, and music festivals and conferences organized jointly that take place in mid-March in Austin\, Texas\, United States. \nIt began in 1987 and has continued growing in both scope and size every year. In 2017\, the conference lasted for 10 days with the interactive track lasting for five days\, music for seven days\, and film for nine days. SXSW is run by the company SXSW\, LLC\, which organizes conferences\, trade shows\, festivals\, and other events. In addition to SXSW\, the company runs the conference SXSW EDU and the SXSW Sydney festival (from 2023\, in Sydney\, Australia) and co-runs North by Northeast in Toronto. It has previously run or co-run the events North by Northwest (1995–2001)\, West by Southwest (2006–2010)\, SXSW Eco (2011–2016)\, SXSW V2V (2013–2015)\, and the me Convention (2017–2019). In addition\, a large number of other events\, past and present\, sometimes collectively referred to as “four-letter festivals”\, have been inspired by SXSW. DESCRIPTION:World Contact Day was first declared in March 1953 by an organization called the International Flying Saucer Bureau (IFSB)\, as a day on which all IFSB members would attempt to send a telepathic message into space. \nThe IFSB voted to hold such a day in 1953\, theorising that if both telepathy and alien life were real\, a large number of people focussing on an identical piece of text may be able to transmit the message through space. IFSB members focused on the following message during 1953: \nCalling occupants of interplanetary craft! Calling occupants of interplanetary craft that have been observing our planet EARTH. We of IFSB wish to make contact with you. We are your friends\, and would like you to make an appearance here on EARTH. Your presence before us will be welcomed with the utmost friendship.
