SUMMARY:Save the Observatory Science Centre Herstmonceux - petition
DESCRIPTION:The Observatory Science Centre is an educational charity which has called the Grade II listed\, former home of the Royal Greenwich Observatory at Herstmonceux\, East Sussex\, home for the last 30 years. \nThe Canadian landlords\, Queen’s University\, who also own Herstmonceux Castle\, are not renewing the Science Centre’s lease\, so come the end of the 2026 season the Science Centre will be homeless. Over the years the science centre have worked tirelessly to fund and restore the site and the telescopes back to their former glory. The centre is a major venue for exhibitions\, lectures and educational programmes. The renovated telescopes provide a unique setting for the general public\, schools\, colleges\, and brownie and scout groups to learn about science\, space and the world around them. Whilst the Science Centre is in search for a new site to continue operations beyond 2026\, they should not have to leave the Observatory site at all and the historic site should be preserved for future generations as a great educational tool of significant historical importance. Kirk (William Shatner)\, Spock (Leonard Nimoy) and their crewmates as they explored the galaxy on the starship USS Enterprise. Star Trek is an American science fiction media franchise created by Gene Roddenberry\, which began with the eponymous 1960s television series and became a worldwide pop-culture phenomenon. The franchise has expanded into various films\, television series\, video games\, novels\, and comic books\, becoming one of the most recognizable and highest-grossing media franchises of all time. The franchise began with Star Trek: The Original Series\, which debuted in the US on September 8\, 1966\, and aired for three seasons on NBC. It was first broadcast on September 6\, 1966\, on Canada’s CTV network. It followed the voyages of the crew of the USS Enterprise\, a space exploration vessel built by the United Federation of Planets in the 23rd century\, on a mission “to explore strange new worlds\, to seek out new life and new civilizations\, to boldly go where no man has gone before”. In creating Star Trek\, Roddenberry was inspired by C. S. Ook ons eigen lichaam is fragiel\, onderhevig aan tijd\, ziekte en de beperkingen van het geheugen.  Door de eeuwen heen hebben samenlevingen een opmerkelijke keuze gemaakt. We beschermen het kwetsbare: onze woorden\, zieken\, ouderen\, zwakkeren. Vanuit dat perspectief is lezen ook een vorm van zorg\, een manier om herinneringen levend te houden en mensen te verbinden. In deze lezing verkent Irene Vallejo hoe in de geschiedenis boeken en zorg met elkaar verweven zijn om te laten zien waarom deze aandacht voor kwetsbaarheid samenlevingen sterker maakt en waarom dit urgenter is dan ooit. Dat hebben 3FM-dj’s Barend van Deelen\, Sophie Hijlkema en Mart Meijer net bekendgemaakt in een speciale ochtendshow. Vanaf De Markt in ’s-Hertogenbosch\, waar het Glazen Huis vorig jaar stond\, vertrekken ze in een gigantische 3FM-bus\, onderweg naar de nieuwe stad: Arnhem. DESCRIPTION:Het Eurovisiesongfestival (Engels: Eurovision Song Contest\, Frans: Concours Eurovision de la Chanson) is sinds 24 mei 1956 een jaarlijkse presentatie en competitie van liedjes en wordt uitgezonden op televisie door heel Europa. \nSinds 1967 wordt het festival ook in landen buiten Europa uitgezonden. Verder is het festival op het internet te volgen. Het festival heeft de naam te danken aan het Eurovision TV Distribution Network\, een onderdeel van de Europese Radio-unie (EBU). Aan het songfestival kan ieder actief lid van de EBU meedoen\, waardoor ook enkele landen die net buiten Europa liggen mee kunnen doen. Het betreft landen in Noord-Afrika\, het Midden-Oosten en West-Azië.
