SUMMARY:Save the Observatory Science Centre Herstmonceux - petition
DESCRIPTION:The Observatory Science Centre is an educational charity which has called the Grade II listed\, former home of the Royal Greenwich Observatory at Herstmonceux\, East Sussex\, home for the last 30 years. \nThe Canadian landlords\, Queen’s University\, who also own Herstmonceux Castle\, are not renewing the Science Centre’s lease\, so come the end of the 2026 season the Science Centre will be homeless. Over the years the science centre have worked tirelessly to fund and restore the site and the telescopes back to their former glory. The centre is a major venue for exhibitions\, lectures and educational programmes. The renovated telescopes provide a unique setting for the general public\, schools\, colleges\, and brownie and scout groups to learn about science\, space and the world around them. Whilst the Science Centre is in search for a new site to continue operations beyond 2026\, they should not have to leave the Observatory site at all and the historic site should be preserved for future generations as a great educational tool of significant historical importance. Kirk (William Shatner)\, Spock (Leonard Nimoy) and their crewmates as they explored the galaxy on the starship USS Enterprise. Star Trek is an American science fiction media franchise created by Gene Roddenberry\, which began with the eponymous 1960s television series and became a worldwide pop-culture phenomenon. The franchise has expanded into various films\, television series\, video games\, novels\, and comic books\, becoming one of the most recognizable and highest-grossing media franchises of all time. The franchise began with Star Trek: The Original Series\, which debuted in the US on September 8\, 1966\, and aired for three seasons on NBC. It was first broadcast on September 6\, 1966\, on Canada’s CTV network. It followed the voyages of the crew of the USS Enterprise\, a space exploration vessel built by the United Federation of Planets in the 23rd century\, on a mission “to explore strange new worlds\, to seek out new life and new civilizations\, to boldly go where no man has gone before”. In creating Star Trek\, Roddenberry was inspired by C. S. Op dit exclusieve feest viert schrijvend en uitgevend Nederland de start van de Boekenweek. De Boekenweek is ontstaan om zoveel mogelijk mensen te inspireren nieuwe boeken te kopen. DESCRIPTION:South by Southwest\, abbreviated as SXSW and colloquially referred to as South By\, is an annual conglomeration of parallel film\, interactive media\, and music festivals and conferences organized jointly that take place in mid-March in Austin\, Texas\, United States. \nIt began in 1987 and has continued growing in both scope and size every year. In 2017\, the conference lasted for 10 days with the interactive track lasting for five days\, music for seven days\, and film for nine days. SXSW is run by the company SXSW\, LLC\, which organizes conferences\, trade shows\, festivals\, and other events. In addition to SXSW\, the company runs the conference SXSW EDU and the SXSW Sydney festival (from 2023\, in Sydney\, Australia) and co-runs North by Northeast in Toronto. It has previously run or co-run the events North by Northwest (1995–2001)\, West by Southwest (2006–2010)\, SXSW Eco (2011–2016)\, SXSW V2V (2013–2015)\, and the me Convention (2017–2019). In addition\, a large number of other events\, past and present\, sometimes collectively referred to as “four-letter festivals”\, have been inspired by SXSW.
