SUMMARY:Save the Observatory Science Centre Herstmonceux - petition
DESCRIPTION:The Observatory Science Centre is an educational charity which has called the Grade II listed\, former home of the Royal Greenwich Observatory at Herstmonceux\, East Sussex\, home for the last 30 years. \nThe Canadian landlords\, Queen’s University\, who also own Herstmonceux Castle\, are not renewing the Science Centre’s lease\, so come the end of the 2026 season the Science Centre will be homeless. Over the years the science centre have worked tirelessly to fund and restore the site and the telescopes back to their former glory. The centre is a major venue for exhibitions\, lectures and educational programmes. The renovated telescopes provide a unique setting for the general public\, schools\, colleges\, and brownie and scout groups to learn about science\, space and the world around them. Whilst the Science Centre is in search for a new site to continue operations beyond 2026\, they should not have to leave the Observatory site at all and the historic site should be preserved for future generations as a great educational tool of significant historical importance. Elk jaar heeft het Amsterdam Light Festival een ander thema. Editie 14 gaat over nalatenschap (Legacy). Zowel in het groot als in het klein. Want Legacy gaat over grootse historische en klimatologische gebeurtenissen die hun invloed lang doen gelden\, maar ook over het voortbestaan van familietradities en gedeelde herinneringen en gewoonten.​ \nWelk sporen laten we achter?\nWelke verhalen vertellen we door?\nHoe willen we herinnerd worden?​ \nTwintig kunstenaars van over heel de wereld gingen aan de slag met deze vragen. Kirk (William Shatner)\, Spock (Leonard Nimoy) and their crewmates as they explored the galaxy on the starship USS Enterprise. Star Trek is an American science fiction media franchise created by Gene Roddenberry\, which began with the eponymous 1960s television series and became a worldwide pop-culture phenomenon. The franchise has expanded into various films\, television series\, video games\, novels\, and comic books\, becoming one of the most recognizable and highest-grossing media franchises of all time. The franchise began with Star Trek: The Original Series\, which debuted in the US on September 8\, 1966\, and aired for three seasons on NBC. It was first broadcast on September 6\, 1966\, on Canada’s CTV network. It followed the voyages of the crew of the USS Enterprise\, a space exploration vessel built by the United Federation of Planets in the 23rd century\, on a mission “to explore strange new worlds\, to seek out new life and new civilizations\, to boldly go where no man has gone before”. In creating Star Trek\, Roddenberry was inspired by C. S. DESCRIPTION:Art’s Birthday is an annual exchange-art event\, first proposed in 1963 by French artist Robert Filliou\, celebrated on January 17th by a loose collection of artists and artist organizations around the world. \nHe suggested that 1\,000\,000 years ago\, there was no art. But one day\, on the 17th of January to be precise\, Art was born. According to Filliou\, it happened when someone dropped a dry sponge into a bucket of water. Modest beginnings\, but look at us now. Filliou proposed a public holiday to celebrate the presence of art in our lives. In recent years\, the idea has been taken up by a loose network of artists and friends around the world.
