SUMMARY:Mars voor gezonde landbouw
DESCRIPTION:XR Gifvrij\, XR West-Friesland en XR Drenthe organiseren een mars naar de gifproducenten Bayer\, Syngenta en Incotec in Enkhuizen. \nLandbouwgif doodt insecten en bodemleven\, vergiftigt het water\, bedreigt onze gezondheid en vernietigt de biodiversiteit. Dat kán anders\, bewijzen miljoenen agro-ecologisch boeren die samen voldoende voedsel produceren om de wereld te voeden. In Enkhuizen zijn naast elkaar drie bedrijven gevestigd die ‘leven’ van landbouwgif. Die worden op 14 november 2025 ter verantwoording geroepen. Bayer en Syngenta behoren tot de grootste gifproducenten. Hun gezamenlijke omzet is zo’n € 36 miljard (2024). Naast ‘legaal’ landbouwgif produceren ze ook middelen die in de Europese Unie allang verboden zijn. Die worden geëxporteerd\, veelal naar het mondiale zuiden\, en vormen een groot gevaar voor de lokale bevolking. En: wij importeren voedsel uit veel van de landen die dit landbouwgif kopen en gebruiken… Incotec\, dat zaden van een coating voorziet zodat ze makkelijker te planten zijn\, stopt ook landbouwgif in die coatings. DESCRIPTION:Youth & Food in Transition: Exploring adolescents’ dietary behaviours for a healthy and sustainable future. \nHealthy and sustainable dietary behaviours are of high importance for individual and planetary health; as eating behaviours are largely shaped at a young age\, youth are considered a key target group to stimulate such dietary behaviours. There is growing attention worldwide for school food and nutrition programmes\, as schools provide a setting to reach a diverse and large number of adolescents. Nevertheless\, there is limited knowledge on effective school-based food and nutrition interventions. Hence\, this thesis explored how we can better support and empower adolescents to adopt healthy and sustainable diets\, within the Dutch secondary school context. \nThe first objective was to identify factors influencing healthy and sustainable diets among adolescents. First\, experts in health\, sustainability\, and education participated in focus groups and a questionnaire to map and prioritise key factors on a socioecological model. They emphasized the importance of peers\, the school food environment\, social influences\, food availability and autonomy. Next\, 305 students from four secondary schools in rural and urban areas were consulted through questionnaires\, a food environment mapping assignment\, and focus groups. Adolescents described their homes as places where healthy and sustainable eating is easier\, but perceived more freedom to make less healthy choices outside the home. They identified 18 factors influencing their food choices\, including autonomy\, the social function of food among peers\, the influence of caregivers\, and the offer and price of food. Together\, these findings highlight the need for more supportive social and physical environments that promote healthy and sustainable options\, while recognizing adolescents’ need to express autonomy. \nThe second objective was to analyse existing Dutch school food and nutrition programmes. First\, interviews with programme representatives showed that many programmes focus on health\, with some links to sustainability. Moreover\, programmes were mostly designed for the classroom\, with only some including other elements of whole school approaches (e.g.\, the school canteen). Secondly\, the interviews revealed that many programmes focus on improving knowledge\, skills and awareness. Besides\, representatives emphasized the importance of using experiential and activating learning methods\, and adjusting to adolescents’ realities. These findings suggest that programmes could be strengthened by integrating health and sustainability\, moving beyond knowledge and skills\, and using interactive learning methods that fit to adolescents’ realities. \nThe third objective explored adolescents’ own understanding and perceived importance of healthy and sustainable food\, as well as their ideas to facilitate healthy and sustainable eating. Most students understood the concept of healthy eating and perceived it as important\, while fewer students valued sustainability. Nonetheless\, adolescents proposed many ideas for future interventions\, mostly relating to changes in the food environment (e.g.\, offer\, price) and the food system (e.g.\, more sustainable production\, governmental subsidies). \nIn sum\, this this thesis underscores that initiatives aiming to stimulate healthy and sustainable diets among adolescents should prioritise adolescents’ need for autonomy\, social interactions\, and an appealing and affordable food offer. Redeveloping school food programmes together with adolescents holds particular promise\, to ensure engagement\, motivation and relevance. DESCRIPTION:PFAS in snoepgroenten voor kinderen\, maar ook opmerkelijk veel snoepgroenten pesticidenvrij. \nIn een steekproef met snoepgroenten van Pesticide Action Network Netherlands (PAN-NL)\, gepubliceerd in het rapport ‘Pesticiden in snoepgroente : Kinderen door supermarkten niet gespaard‘\, zijn 8 pesticiden gevonden waaronder meerdere PFAS-pesticiden en pesticiden die hormoonverstorend zijn. Als de pesticidenresten in potjes peutervoeding zouden zijn gevonden dan hadden 4 van de 20 geteste snoepgroenten uit de handel genomen moeten worden. DESCRIPTION:In Nederland wordt minder vlees gegeten\, is de conclusie van het onderzoek  ‘Vleesconsumptie per hoofd van de bevolking in Nederland\, 2005-2024‘ van de Wageningen Universiteit in opdracht van dierenwelzijnsorganisatie Wakker Dier. \nVergeleken met een jaar geleden zijn we ongeveer een halve kilo minder vlees gaan eten. Daarmee komt de vleesconsumptie op het laagste niveau sinds de start van de metingen in 2005. De onderzoekers hebben onder meer gekeken naar hoeveel dieren er zijn geslacht. De hoeveelheid varkens\, kippen\, runderen\, kalveren\, schapen\, geiten en paarden is in kaart gebracht en ook werd gekeken naar CBS-statistieken over de in- en uitvoer van vlees\, hoe groot de voorraad opgeslagen vlees in Nederland is en wat daarvan wordt gebruikt. In 2024 was het totale vleesverbruik van Nederlanders 74\,4 kilogram. Dat is het karkasgewicht: het gewicht van het dier inclusief botten. Ongeveer de helft daarvan wordt daadwerkelijk opgegeten. Ook andere (milieu-)organisaties schenken aandacht aan een gelijkere verdeling van voedsel over de wereld\, bijvoorbeeld door een wereldmaaltijd te serveren. Meer dan 840 miljoen mensen in de wereld hebben dagelijks niet genoeg voedsel en schoon drinkwater. In 2000 hebben regeringsleiders van alle landen van de wereld door middel van de Millenniumdoelstellingen afgesproken om de honger wereldwijd aan te pakken. Het is de vraag of deze doelstellingen worden gehaald. Elk jaar staat een ander thema centraal\, in 2025: ‘Hand in Hand for Better Foods and a Better Future‘. DESCRIPTION:Day of Awareness of Food Loss and Waste is a United Nations-sanctioned designated awareness day observed annually on 29 September with the goal to raise awareness of the importance of food loss and waste\, this day is co-convened by the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) and the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP)\, whereas\, the day’s events are jointly led by these two organizations. \nThe main aim of the day is to raise awareness to the importance of food loss and waste related problems and their possible solutions at all levels\, and also to promote global efforts and collective action towards meeting the Sustainable Development Goal Target 12.3\, which targets to halve per capita food waste at the retail and consumer level by 2030\, and reduce food losses along the food production and supply chains. It has been calculated that an average of 74 kg of food per person is wasted each year worldwide. According to some estimates\, 1.4 billion hectares of agricultural land are used annually to produce food that will eventually be discarded; 14% of produced food (worth approximately 400 billion dollars) is lost between harvest and sale\, while 17% of global agrifood production is wasted. DESCRIPTION:Zoutmaxdag 2025: bevolking eet nog altijd te veel zout. \nIn 2025 valt de eerste Zoutmaxdag op zondag 17 augustus\, mannen in de leeftijd van 18 tot en met 50 jaar hebben dan al hun zoutlimiet voor een heel jaar bereikt. Volwassen mannen eten gemiddeld dagelijks 60% meer zout dan de richtlijn van de Wereldgezondheidsorganisatie (WHO) aanbeveelt. Schrikbarend\, want er is nog meer dan een kwart jaar te gaan. De WHO adviseert voor volwassenen een maximum van 5\,0 gram zout per dag. In Nederland worden door de Gezondheidsraad en het Voedingscentrum een limiet van 6\,0 gram gehanteerd\, maar de WHO ziet bij een zoutlimiet van 5 gram en minder pas gezondheidsbevordering optreden. DESCRIPTION:Het Kwaku Summer Festival (voorheen het Kwakoe Zomerfestival) wordt sinds 1975 bijna elk jaar tijdens een aantal weekeinden in de zomer gehouden in het Nelson Mandelapark in Amsterdam-Zuidoost. \nHet is van origine een Surinaams festival\, maar het heeft zich ontwikkeld tot een multicultureel festival. Het festival is ontstaan in 1975 als voetbaltoernooi\, georganiseerd door Stichting Jongeren Centrum Kwakoe tijdens het 700-jarig bestaan van Amsterdam. Het speelde zich aanvankelijk af op de sportvelden van SV Bijlmer\, op de locatie van het huidige Bijlmerplein in Amsterdam Zuidoost. In 1983 verhuisde het festival naar de huidige locatie in het Nelson Mandelapark dat in die tijd Bijlmerpark heette. Eind jaren negentig dienden zowel het jongerencentrum Kwakoe als de organisatie van het festival een vergunningaanvraag in. De festivalorganisatie Stichting Kwakoe Events onder leiding van Winston Kout kreeg de vergunning toegewezen en heeft het festival sindsdien georganiseerd. Van een louter Surinaams feest\, voor arme Surinamers uit de Bijlmerhoogbouw die geen geld hebben om op vakantie te gaan\, ontwikkelde het festival zich sindsdien tot een multicultureel festival dat zich ook op Antillianen en Afrikanen richt. DESCRIPTION:Food safety is the absence — or safe\, acceptable levels — of hazards in food that may harm the health of consumers. \nFood-borne hazards can be microbiological\, chemical or physical in nature and are often invisible to the plain eye: bacteria\, viruses\, or pesticide residues are some examples. Food safety has a critical role in assuring that food stays safe at every stage of the food chain – from production to harvest\, processing\, storage\, distribution\, all the way to preparation and consumption. With an estimated 600 million cases of foodborne illnesses annually\, unsafe food is a threat to human health and economies\, disproportionally affecting vulnerable and marginalized people\, especially women and children\, populations affected by conflict\, and migrants. An estimated three million people around the world — in developed and developing countries — die every year from food and waterborne disease. Food is the starting point for our energy\, our health and our well-being. We often take for granted that it is safe\, but in an increasingly complex and interconnected world where food value chains are growing longer\, standards and regulations are that much more important in keeping us safe. Food safety is key to achieving several of the Sustainable Development Goals and World Food Safety Day brings it into the spotlight\, to help prevent\, detect and manage foodborne risks. Safe food contributes to economic prosperity\, boosting agriculture\, market access\, tourism and sustainable development. \n\nGoal 2 — There is no food security without food safety. Ending hunger is about all people having access to safe\, nutritious and sufficient food all year round.\nGoal 3 — Food safety has a direct impact on people’s health and nutritional intake. DESCRIPTION:Fisheries provide a vital source of food\, employment\, recreation\, trade and economic well-being for people throughout the world. \nIn a world of growing population and persistent hunger\, fish has emerged as an important commodity for the achievement of food security. However\, efforts by the international community to ensure the sustainability of fisheries are being seriously compromised by illegal\, unreported and unregulated fishing activities. According to the UN Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) illegal\, unreported and unregulated fishing activities are responsible for the loss of 11–26 million tonnes of fish each year\, which is estimated to have an economic value of US$10–23 billion. To curtail this impact\, Target 4 of Goal 14 of the Sustainable Development Agenda adopted in 2015 by the UN General Assembly\, specifically urges the international community to “effectively regulate harvesting and end overfishing\, illegal\, unreported and unregulated fishing and destructive fishing practices” by 2020. \nMeeting this ambitious target requires strong awareness-raising efforts to draw the attention of the general public to the negative impacts of illegal\, unreported and unregulated fishing activities\, an activity in which FAO has been actively engaged. To promote long-term conservation and sustainable use of fisheries resources the 1995 FAO Conference adopted the FAO Code of Conduct for Responsible Fisheries. The Code is voluntary and sets out principles and international standards of behavior for responsible practices with a view to ensuring the effective conservation\, management and development of living aquatic resources\, with due respect for the ecosystem and biodiversity. In 2009 the FAO Conference adopted the Agreement on Port State Measures to Prevent\, Deter and Eliminate Illegal\, Unreported and Unregulated Fishing. The Agreement is binding and stipulates minimum port State measures to prevent\, deter and eliminate illegal\, unreported and unregulated fishing. DESCRIPTION:The potato represents one of the most important contributions of the Andean region to the entire world\, as it is one of the five main food crops consumed in the world\, contributing to food security. \nSmall-scale and family farming production of the potato\, particularly by rural farmers\, including women farmers\, supports efforts to reduce hunger\, malnutrition and poverty\, and achieve food security\, and relies on and contributes greatly to the conservation and sustainable use of biodiversity. In December 2023\, the General Assembly decided to designate 30 May as the International Day of Potato to raise awareness of the multiple nutritional\, economic\, environmental and cultural values of the potato and its contribution as an invaluable food resource and as a generator of income for rural families and producers\, with a view to implementing the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and achieving its Sustainable Development Goals. A millennia-old food with origins in the South American Andes region that made its way to Europe in the 16th century then spread around the world\, the potato is much more than a source of nourishment. Potatoes are an important component of strategies to provide accessible and nutritious food and improved livelihoods in rural and other areas where natural resources\, especially arable land and water are limited and inputs expensive. The crop’s versatility and ability to grow in a variety of conditions make it an advantageous crop choice. \nPotatoes are also a climate-friendly crop\, as they produce low levels of greenhouse gas emissions in comparison to other crops. In the past decade\, the global production of potatoes has increased by 10 percent\, leading to growth in employment and income\, but more work still needs to be done to harness the full potential of the crop in the quest to end hunger and malnutrition globally. In addition\, there is a wide spectrum of diversity among potatoes\, with over 5\,000 improved varieties and farmers’ varieties/landraces\, many of which are unique to their original location in Latin America. The 150 wild relatives of the cultivated potato show a wide genetic variation with a range of traits\, including the ability to adapt to different production environments\, resistance to pests and diseases\, and different tuber characteristics. They are a repository of the heritable traits for the continued genetic improvement of the crop to respond to ever changing environmental conditions\, new biotypes of pests and diseases and consumers’ preferences. DESCRIPTION:De Verenigde Naties (VN) wil met Wereld Tonijn Dag dat we ons bewust worden van de cruciale rol die tonijn speelt bij duurzame ontwikkeling\, voedselzekerheid\, economische kansen en levensonderhoud van mensen over de hele wereld. \nDe migrerende tonijnsoorten zijn volgens de VN goed voor 20 procent van de waarde van alle zeevisvangstvisserijen en meer dan acht procent van alle wereldwijd verhandelde zeevruchten. DESCRIPTION:Terwijl supermarkten recordwinsten boeken en voedselfabrikanten de prijzen blijven opdrijven\, kijkt de overheid toe. \nDe prijzen in de supermarkt rijzen de pan uit. Basisproducten als brood\, pasta en groente zijn 20 tot 40% duurder geworden\, terwijl supermarkten en voedselproducenten torenhoge omzetten en mooie winsten boeken en hun bonussen veiligstellen. Ondertussen blijft de politiek hangen in onderzoeken\, halve toezeggingen en loze beloften: 0% btw op groente en fruit? In 2022 beloofd – in 2025 nog steeds niet geregeld. Transparantie over marges? Supermarkten en voedselproducenten houden de boeken dicht. Misleidende marketing en graaiflatie? Ieder huishouden geeft tot 2.000 euro per jaar uit aan misleidende boodschappen… In de uitzending Honger in de klas van Pointer zie je hoe kinderen zonder ontbijt naar school gaan\, zich schamen en achterstanden oplopen. Leerkrachten slaan alarm\, ouders doen hun best maar de prijzen zijn te hoog. Uit onderzoek van de FAO blijkt dat bij een voedselcrisis vooral vrouwen\, kinderen en sociaal kwetsbare groepen als eerste worden geraakt. Maar ook middeninkomens staan onder druk: torenhoge energiekosten\, stijgende zorgpremies en onbetaalbare boodschappen maken gezond eten tot een luxe. Dit is geen systeemfout\, dit is politiek falen. Daarom hebben wij 7 eisen in het leven geroepen om goedkopere boodschappen te realiseren: \n\nVerplichte transparantie over marges op voedselprijzen\nOm in te kunnen grijpen bij inflatie en torenhoge prijzen van voedsel\, is duidelijkheid nodig over de marges en margemixen van producenten en supermarkten.\n0% btw op groente en fruit\nGezond eten is geen luxe\, het is een eerste levensbehoefte. De beloofde btw-verlaging op groente en fruit blijft maar uitgesteld\, terwijl de prijzen blijven stijgen. Voer deze maatregel nu door!\nStop handelsbelemmeringen die voedsel duurder maken\nOnnodige regelgeving en bedrijven die mazen in de wet benutten\, drijven de prijzen op. Maak een einde aan inkooprestricties en stop de selectieve distributie die de interne markt verstoort.\nVerbied marketing op ongezond voedsel\nEr gaat jaarlijks 1\,6 miljard euro naar reclame – vooral voor ongezonde producten. Dat is 3\,5% van de voedselprijs.\nStel een prijsplafond in\nDe overheid moet –net als bij energie- maximale prijzen instellen voor essentiële basisboodschappen zoals brood\, groente en fruit. Zo voorkom je dat mensen tijdens een crisis de hoofdprijs betalen voor hun dagelijkse eten.\nMaak betere wetgeving en bestraf overtreders hard\nMaak krimpflatie (minder product\, hogere prijs) en beknibbelflatie (mindere kwaliteit\, zelfde prijs) strafbaar. Het is onacceptabel dat consumenten steeds minder krijgen terwijl de winsten stijgen.\nStop honger als verdienmodel – stop voedselspeculatie\nEis transparantie op de financiële markten: beleggers en grondstofbedrijven moeten hun posities en aandelen openbaar maken om honger als verdienmodel te voorkomen.\n\nTeken nu de petitie. Voor elke handtekening stuurt Foodwatch een mail naar alle Tweede Kamerleden. Voer samen met Foodwatch de druk op. Foodwatch wil 30.000 handtekeningen verzamelen vóór de Tweede Kamerverkiezing op 29 oktober 2025 om druk te zetten op de formatie. Geen mooie woorden meer.
